When you lessen the penalties for beating your wife, there are more wife beatings. (Wife, as in any partner.) The rationale was the same kind of misogynistic patriarchal swagger that Trump admires so much, and it’s despicable.

I’m sure Nikita is not the only male ice dancer reported to have hit his partner and I’m also sure that there are others who are not Russian. But the cases of partner abuse that we know about include him, Elena B’s former partner and Coughlin. I don’t think it should be a joke to us or to the skaters themselves.

Since this was not confirmed (I think it was only rumored)...why talk about it as if it happened?

I was referring to the post up thread with the convoluted “explanation” of who can beat whom.

I just say, that people often think, that a girl beating a man is right. Even the man whom she hit can think she was right. So girls can think it's OK to beat men. (Not because those girls are stronger, but because they expect people will say they are right, because girls are weak.) That's all.

And people are still skating to Hernando’s Hideaway.
.. pls enlighten me "what's in HH that is about abuse"..... wow, that's a twists..
.. but then women are still skating to "Evita", and her regime was rather "violent, murderous and abusive" and collaborated with Nazis..
... and...

Recently Pluschenko's boy skated to his old exhibition "Michael Jackson tribute" and got in trouble, because "as of today" Jackson has been declared "pedophile" and persona non grata ... That's going to be a tough one..... what should MANY skaters do with the programmes to "Michael Jackson".. :D. Well, not much was done what he insulted Jews in the past, on more than one occasion.. Let's see about "pedophilia" issues..

Since this was not confirmed (I think it was only rumored)...why talk about it as if it happened?
This is one instance where "not confirmed" does not mean "it did not happen"..;) The interpretation of "what happened" and how both parties involved "see it" in terms of seriousness, is another issue how ever. Navka was known to "snap" at Kostomarov, and he was told "take it like a man, she is a girl after all".... :D

When Pluschenko came to Mishin, he was subjected to a certain degree of "initiation violence and verbal abuse"... sort of like in some fraternities on US campuses (a lot less lately). The general sentiment at the time, when he finally spoke of it, was "that's what boys do", and many Yagudin's fans defended Yagudin, calling Pluschenko a "whiner".

The new trend in Russia seems to be, in opposition to the common saying "He beats you, means he loves you", is "LOVE HIM RIGHT BACK".... :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

"If he beats you means he loves you? Love him right back... "

1. That’s a positive trend although it’s better to leave him than hit him back.

2. HH has nothing to do with abuse, it was a non sequiter. I’m a Pajama Games fan.

??? :)
Are you sure you need to hear once again, that Plushenko says, that those boys who were cruel indeed, were some other skaters, older than Yagudin? That when Evgeni is asked about Yagudin, he tells an impressing story about Yagudin kicking his legs when they played football?
That Evgeni says he kept "biting" Yagudin (not literally, but he does think he attacked Yagudin) - just because Evgeni had to fight for Mishin's attention?
That it is Mishin who broke Evgeni's finger kicking Evgeni? Not Yagudin.
Alexei Nikolayevich Mishin: "А я в ответ вспомнил, как иногда Женьку просто колотил." https://www.sport-express.ru/figure-skating/reviews/783852/

If your imagination is too luxuriant, it is your problem, not mine. :)
It is you who starts to attack, even though you know, that the others are tired of those "summaries" and "generalizations".

I don't like to attack. I do like Yagudin and his family, because I see they smile instead of saying "you are wrong". :)

Not sure if this is a good time to bring it up...but as far as I can tell, domestic violence wasn't even part of this ice dance partnership we were talking about. So can we get back to discussing Russian skating in this thread and start a different thread for this conversation if we want to continue?

Alina Zagitova will be a special guest at "Sabantuy-2019" in Moscow, a music/cultural festival celebrating Russian Tatar Culture.

She also made the cover of two figure skating publications.
Russian Quarterly Figure Skating Federation's Magazine "World of Figure Skating".
and "Eurasiasports".
new friend...

Sasha Trusova is now awarded the status of Master of Sports, International Category (vs. just Master of Sports) by the Russian Ministry of Sports (it means a higher level of funding).

Junior test skates were always closed, no links. The senior test skates in September are usually public.

I thought Erokhov has already aged out of juniors. Why should he be at junior test skates if her is a senior? Or am I wrong?

Khudaberdieva/Nazarov are also listed there , but as we know they broke up and she has found new partner.

I think that they just took the official list of junior team members and didn’t check anything

You are probably right. It would be unusual that they invited only six pairs and six ice dance couples. Usually they invite a bit more, so that they have better choice of to whom to give the earlier JGP events. The same I would expect with ladies.

A new interview with Alexei Rogonov. I guess he has accepted that he will not come back to compete, but he has a lot of other projects to keep him busy.

He was also featured in this video on Life.ru: "I Could Not Be The First," along with a ballerina and actress.

Ambitions make a person faster, taller, stronger. But what if it doesn't work out? Then ambitions begin to break life. About how to live on and not give up, another series of the project "Изнанька."

Does anyone know which show this performance of Valieva's SP is from?

I'm so glad she's keeping this program for her JGP debut. As of now, she's my pick for next OGM winner. She is just exquisite.

Saturn Eisgala 12-2018 in Germany.
Here is another video, she is skating with another Eteri's student, Arseny Fedotor.

Here is the same programme in her last competition.

Cute. And some of the first comments are from Viktoria Sinitsina, Tatiana Volosozhar, and Betina Popova. I think we have a formidable girl squad in the making.
