Do the parents of these two have nothing to say? Or are they the ones making them be coached by this man (as opposed to it simply being ordered by the higher ups in the Jilin team)?
Well, they believe in him, just as other IAM skaters believe in Soerensen.

Entry list for the 5th Interclub league competition (COC selection) is out. The two other host spots for pairs are gonna be ZHANG Siyang/JIA Ziqi and YANG Yixi/DENG Shunyang because they are the only two senior eligible entries.

Not necessarily. China could decide to give one or both of the spots back if neither team skates well.

Sure, but why would they do that though? Doesn't benefit them in any way does it?
They didn't use all three ice dancing spots last year. There's not necessarily any point in putting teams in who are going to finish last or second to last.

Those were already given up during the initial assignment. This year China also gave up 1 dance spot already during the initial assignment.

Last year they assigned all host spots that were kept after the initial assignments and had skaters finished last/second last in every discipline so I don't see why they wouldn't do the same this year.

Also I doubt they will give up the host spot especially in pairs because last year they sent Yang/Deng out to a challenger (not a common thing for Cfed) to get their senior tech mins (which they didn't get). Letting them do COC saves them an extra trip for a chance to get mins.

The confusion continues? I guess? Earlier in the thread (first page) it was claimed Jia was skating with a 13 year old. Now, he's with Zhang Siyang (who previously used to skate with Yang Yongchao).

CFSA is by far the most "we're making this stuff as we go along" federation.

The point is that if the team doesn't score well enough to even likely make the TES mins then there probably isn't much point of even giving them the CoC spot at all.

CFSA can do as they please with their host spots but there is also an element of pride with how well these teams perform.

That was the rumour some time last year, clearly it didn't work out. There were rumours of the Zhang/Jia pairing this year during the pairs training camp which has been confirmed now.

Yang/Deng have their FP mins for both 4CC and Worlds and missed out on the 4CC SP mins by less than 3 points with an invalidated spin. They're not that far off.

Also there's a dire lack of senior pairs in China with Wang/Zhu out for the season. Cfed will want whoever they have to be out to get their mins. They already did that for Yang/Deng last year there's no reason they won't do it this year especially since they have even less options this year.

CFSA can do as they please with their host spots but there is also an element of pride with how well these teams perform.
There is no element of pride right now on the Chinese senior scene 🤣

[13 year old girl pairs skater/Jia] That was the rumour some time last year, clearly it didn't work out.
Was it really about "working out", or was it about the national games and their provincial team looking to make some money again? I mean, I genuinely give up on trying to understand all this, so yeah.

What I heard was that the girl bailed after seeing what Jia said about his previous partner.

Well @crzesk8dad must be happy!
THRILLED!!!! Now if he (and Keira Hilbelink) both get a JGP, I will be a happy crzesk8dad! :cheer2: (My understanding is that this competition will be used for JGP selection at either Thailand or China JGP).

Jayden works really hard and due to schedules, he and Sean have been having to do "virtual" sessions. Sean was "at the boards" virtually.

So after the 4th Interclub league competition (JGP selection for women, men and ice dance), the skaters secured the JGP spots are:

So did Lin Yufei / GAO Zijian move up despite the new age rules making them eligible. Ig w all the new partnerships there’s a vacuum in dance so maybe they can clinch one of the coc spots (idky they only kept 2 instead of 3)

It seems so at the moment. But if no current JR teams hit the CMTS this season, maybe they will be asked to prepare a new RD and go to JW since they’re the only team with a JW CMTS.

Here's a timely reminder on why Zhang Tianci is an irresponsible psycho coach who should be banned

video

It's 2024 and he's still posting new videos of Sun Youmei (12 years old) doing quint twists by being yeeted into the air by a full grown man. Except now it's with a sparkling new Russian partner weeheee /s

LI Xuantong/Grigory Rodin's first competition in Chinese interclub competition.

Again, I really like Rodin and think he is a competent skater internationally. The speed and edge control from Rodin are just incredible. I can see an upgraded program compared to last season. Getting a competent skater like Rodin means
you can showcase harder elements in a program like various difficult holds. Although I can see some progress on Li's side, She still has a long way to catch up with Rodin. Rodin is very competent and I think he will be a very popular skater to pair up with in Europe and North America if these countries offer him a chance, so Li, you need to work much harder :rollin:

Ehhhhhh... I'd say she needs to work hard to keep him as a partner if there are other talented Chinese women in search of a stronger partner but he'd need a release from the CFSA to dip out and get a European or North American partner and represent another country wouldn't he?

Also, thank you for sharing @raruki! I hope we get more videos from this Interclub comp! This is the one that is deciding the TBD GP spots, correct? Or is that next week?

True, is he still waiting for the release from Rusfed? they only compete in competitions at the club level.

It is happening right now! I will update everything this evening when everything is settled.

I'm not sure if he's gotten his release from Rusfed. That info might be in the Russian skating news thread. But it's also so early in the season - the only int'l dance competition we've had so far is Lake Placid which was just last week and YGA has never brought any teams over to compete at it, so he may very well have his release already. Lombardia Trophy would make the most sense for them to have an international debut and entries for that aren't due by name until next Friday; Nebelhorn entries are due in two weeks. We'll have to keep an eye out for those entry lists later this month.

Thank you!

It was Matteo Zanni who suggested Rodin to approach Li for a partnership. So I hope they will stick together at least for this season.

More RDs:
1st
Li & Rodin (training with Matteo Zanni):

2nd
Zixi XIAO & Linghao HE (training at IAM)

3rd
Yufei LIN & Zijian GAO (programs choreographed by Pascal Denis)

4th
Junfei REN & Jianing XING (training in Lyon)

5th
Shang SHI & Xinkang WANG
There are some mistakes but this The Guadians of the Galaxy program is so fun! Xinkang is certainly very Starlord!:cheer2:

Huh, so does this mean there were troubles between Li and Wang before the switch? They were very close in terms of height.
