ALL of those words are for one four-minute program???

And that they dropped that terrible Marie-France SP, for that matter. Although maybe Ophelia was 2019-20 now that I think of it?

Maybe Jin's is not temporary either, but I guess he's actually getting to go meet his choreographer now, which I doubt happened for him and P/J in China. Gosh, I wonder if P/J will even get to go to ice shows next off-season... I loved team china and Cha at the Korean ice show.
Seems a bit late to be meeting with his choreographer, given how soon the GP starts. I would hope his choreo has been done at least a month now.

Shiyue Wang / Xinyu Liu

Samba: Bananeira (Banana Tree) feat. Mr. Vegas

They're all out now!

Geez. I was pretty much expecting this to happen ... although I thought it would be earlier, not at the last minute, like this.
:(

Is it an injury? Retirement? or Chinese fed antics??

Says injury.

Peng/Jin need to get out of China. IDK how it will happen, but I hope they can make their way to Duhamel somehow. I'm genuinely not even sure if they'll be able to go to ice shows and earn some money anymore.

God no! I know it won't happen, but I'd rather see them at Great Parks, or maybe with Hotarek in Italy. I won't go so far as to suggest Dundee though.

I'm just not sure what is the reality. In the previous thread, raruki was saying they'd got an "internship" with Shen Xue to "battle politics" (https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...d-to-beijing-2022.100886/page-49#post-6254792), so like I'm not too sure if I believe this "injury" story. I brought up that Jin Boyang theory about what had happened in 2018 earlier, okay, I don't really know, but I generally don't trust this federation, and what they make their skaters say. So I hope they can follow Jin and W/L out of China. IDK how it will happen and where they will go, but I hope it happens.

Oh, I agree, wholeheartedly. I don't know how or where, but I do hope they can get out of China to train long term if they want to continue to compete.

Zhu Yi also just so happened to get injured when An Xiangyi did well on the JGP lol...

Yes, but I don't think that the two are related necessarily. Unless Zhu Yi realized she would soon be supplanted by An on the senior level. Peng/Jin are in no danger of being supplanted by Yang/Deng based on what they did at their JGP.

BTW, do we know if Shen/Zhao still hold official roles in Chinese skating? Or are they out?
It was being rumoured they were out, and that Chinese skating would be getting decentralised. The raruki post I linked a couple of posts rather says Shen Xue has been reduced to a figurehead role. I didn't keep up with it afterwards, raruki in the previous page says the team leaders have also changed. Not too sure, tbh.

What about the other Chinese dance teams that were training in Montreal? It seems such a shame that one of the major players in the sport has just decided to walk away.

It's most likely that Chen / Sun have quietly retired. Think she attended an online seminar for judge training a while ago.

ETA: Sorry, it seems I didn't recall it correctly - per this post by @coralline both of them were listed as coaches in a local seminar, not judges.

Hasn't posted anything on weibo yet. It's so last minute too. Practices about to start and all...
Very last minute. You'd think the Chinese fed would have had the decency to notify Skate Canada earlier than this if they were pulling him. If he really is in Canada though, then surely Orser will have something to say about whatever has caused the extremely late withdrawal.

This is absolutely politically motivated. Have any Chinese athletes competed since the Russians were banned?
Yes. China sent out skaters on the JGP in every discipline. 2 different men, women & dance teams, and 1 pairs team each received 1 JGP assignment.

Juniors have. To be fair, Jin only (supposedly) went to Canada a few days ago, and (supposedly) didn't have a coach until now, so it could be a completely understandable withdrawal. I'm waiting for the weibo post that hasn't come yet.

https://weibo.com/2084693953/Mcil7qhGF Oh here. "Physical condition" isn't too good. IP indeed Toronto.

ETA: And something about feeling pain in the surgery area when training (he had appendicitis, if you remember).

Not just IP, his post mentioned that he has arrived in Canada for a few days and he withdrew after discussing with the coaching team. So at least he's indeed training with Orser and co.
