But if they don't even have a coach, what is the point? Maybe they'll skip 4CCs, but this is so disappointing. No bronze in 2019, no world medal yet again in 2022 even though it would have been a cake-walk, and now seemingly no coach? In fact if their federation had allowed them to build momentum, they'd have contended for an Olympic medal last season too, they were underscored in both the team and individual events.

Well, I'll hope they escape China next season, in case they're actually wishing to compete.
I kinda buy that rumour that they had planned to retire but the fed wouldn't let them. I can see P/J being more keen to stay on with the absence of Russians but clearly the fed can't get their act together and support them properly even though they're unwilling to let them go. I don't trust the fed to do anything at this point because they've always failed on the most basic level.

Anyway, 4CC is looking unlikely for P/J at this point but god can they please please please come back for worlds. There's no way Zhang/Yang can get them 3 spots for next year and tbh I don't even really trust them to get 2 spots 😵‍💫

Edit: Zhang/Yang's season's best from Golden spin was 161 which is the #25 in the season's best score table. They scored 181 at nationals which will borderline scrape into the top 10 season's best but that's with (imo, very generous) domestic scoring. I don't trust them to get 2 spots for worlds at all.

Well I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a coaching change. I said earlier in the thread that they appeared in that Korean ice show which was basically just retired Canadians + Orser's students, and P/J were there, so maybe they can scoot to Toronto and room with jtt and/or cjh next season lol.

And yeah, Z/Y seem unlikely to get 2 spots, but it might also be COVID after-effects right now. I do hope P/J show up for Worlds. It's just been highway robbery from one end or the other for them.

Xiaoyu YU turned 27 on January 2nd. Three days ago she posted both of her programs with Hao ZHANG as performed in August 2019 (their videos originally were posted and discussed in the previous Chinese news thread): https://www.instagram.com/p/CnWqIcJJt7E/
Didn't show it to everyone the complete version of my two favorite programs on the stage of the world competition 🥲 Is my only regret in my career as a player
I still hope this two programs, can let more people can see and like it the choreography and performance.

A small update for Yu Xiaoyu, she was rehearsing a dance program with An Xiangyi for a nursing house visit in Beijing.

An Xiangyi brought back her triple-triple and 3Lz in recent training.

Jin Shuxian (11 yrs old and 4th in Chinese national) has landed a downgraded 3A in training.

Girls: Ruiyang Zhang, Yaxuan Zhu (Alternate: Jiaying Cheng. Ruiyang has replied to a fan on social media that she may not be going due to a competition schedule conflict)
Dance: Yutong Li / Linghao He, Shanjie Yin / Shirui Yang (Alternate: Xin'ai Ding / Hanchong Zheng)

All information from this Weibo post and the comments.

What is the winter gymnasiade? I've quite literally never watched it, and doubt I'd ever even heard of it before.

@Gris or @raruki are the insiders saying anything? I would guess it's covid related if these two withdrew but the pairs are both still there, along with cyd.
The top dance team is still coming (Wang/Liu), along with the two pairs and two singles men.

Also, three (3) Hong Kong women…so a part of China in the single Women.

Good thing they can still do juniors. Bad thing CFSA is CFSA. At least next season, 4CC is supposedly in Shanghai.

Visa issue. Hope Li / Wang can get visa to enter Canada for WJC in time.
Oh, right, Chen/Xing aren't even junior eligible! Wow, they got screwed. But hopefully Wang/Liu can get at least two spots for worlds next season so they can have a big competition to attend, and fingers crossed 4CCs do happen in China.

It's gonna be hard. (They'll probably have to at least defeat Muramoto & Takahashi at home, Taschlerova & Taschler on the way up, and France's #1 hope for a second berth).

But it's possible if W&L are now ready and do the job they need to do at 4CCs heading into Worlds.

Xiangyi An's new Giselle program.

Well that's that. Have to assume at least partly it's because he doesn't want to continue at all and hasn't retired yet because of behind the scenes force. Mentioned here:

Hope they come back only if they both want to. And hope Z/Y can hold up.

Well, that’s a balloon piece of news.

Yang Jin said in a radio interview yesterday that he (they) wouldn't be able to compete this season due to his knee and achilles tendon injury and would focus on recovery. He said he's 60%+ recovered currently.

By “Yang Jin” you mean Boyang Jin, right? Boyang is still on the roster, although it could change; hope not! I can’t wait to see him and Chen in the Men’s competition. 🇨🇳
