B/K would have been multiple World champions under IJS and probably Olympic Champs too - them and A/P battling it. They were a very IJS team IMO.
I don't how old they would have been in 2006...

Shae was born in 1976 so she would have been almost 30

No shade, just finding all the B/K love funny considering what forum we're on. ;)

Trust me... @dramagrrl and I got A LOT of flack back in the day. The haterz just never understood the incredibleness that was Bourne & Kraatz. They needed some Perk Kool-Aid...

I only think V and M can be accused of over performing in the SD this year.
And maybe Scott a little bit in the FD.
When they first emerged no way.
And it’s all subjective.
Sometimes I find Gabby overdoes it in the face.
And I love the face work. Anna and Piper also both do this very well and I enjoy it. :)

@Fizz I saw Riverdance live at Canadian Nationals and CSOI.

It was so cool to see.
I saw it at CSOI and the Sears Open Pro/Am competition (remember those??)! :cheer:

I remember at the Toronto CSOI show, the same thing that has been happening with Tessa and Scott happened to B&K - when they came out on ice in their Riverdance costumes, the crowd gave them a standing ovation before they even started. :D

Yep!!! Saw it at CSOI in '98. I can't remember when I saw them for Sears Open... think it was 2001. They guest starred in it.

Actually, yes, speaking objectively, because they have the same field of entry. In terms of fact, the gpf final is the same level (i.e. global competition) as the Os and Ws. The idea that the Os are more important is an entirely subjective one, which is why the claim that V/M are the G.O.A.T (which is based entirely on competitive Olympic achievement) is also an entirely subjective one, that doesn't withstand any form of intelligent analysis.

I beg to differ. I think that the claim that V/M are the G.O.A.T can be backed by an intelligent analysis.

One may disagree with that analysis, but that does not mean it is stupid.

I’m not even Canadian, I just really really loved Riverdance :D

You don't need to be Canadian as a reason for loving Riverdance.

It was a fun, upbeat program to a rousing, evocative piece of music. B/K skated it in the true spirit of the Celtic folk dance (just guessing as to what kind of dance it actually is here) and sold the heck out of it - while idea in a bit of hydroblading (BK's signature move) just for good measure. Maybe it wasn't a particularly technically complicated dance, but under IJS it should receive perfect marks for choreography, interpretation and performance IMO.

It's one program I'll never forget, and one I'll revisit from time to time.

It’s funny, because if you watch various commentators talking about Valse Triste and Umbrellas, it could be commentary from any P/C FD- ‘bringing true dance back’, ‘floating over the ice’ ‘lyrical, ethereal, moving as one’ etc. And while Umbrellas will forever be my favourite program of theirs, I think they’d be getting heavily criticised in a thread like this if they were still performing in a similar way a decade on. I appreciate that they took such a different approach to Moulin Rouge and the Latin SD, though I get why others wouldn’t. But matters of personal taste in performance aside, the quality of their skating can’t be denied.
V/M certainly did the right thing in exploring other styles. I just didn't particularly care for the ones they chose.

Pink Floyd was much more appealing to me in that respect. MR was like the overwrought programs of another era, though obviously a well-skated one.

I wish they’d been able to skate Pink Floyd full out. I thought the Worlds version of it was amazing considering the real lack of training.

Having been an ice dance fan through several different styles and sets of rules, I disagree. To me, MR was a much more modern style of “dramatic” FD. One could definitely not say it was anything like the typically overwrought dramatic programs of the past such as Annisina/Peizerat’s Carmina Burana or many of their other FDs, or G/P’s dances that were apparently so intense that “Pasha” often collapsed and dissolved in tears at the ends of them. Even more recent North American teams like Belbin & Agosto had several FDs that I would consider much more OTT.

I never saw them live but I have Riverdance by BK and Tracy Wilson/Rob Mccall Ragtime dance bookmarked and anyday which is gloomy or if it is not going right I watch them and feel better.

My fav B/A program was their 4 Seasons FD from 2000 Junior Worlds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isE0JoUx5qo It wasn't OTT and it does have some hydroblading in it, lol! I also liked their OD from 2003: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fj0UzrbSsQ That was a great year for ODs ("Memories of a Grand Ball").

Those were my two favourites of theirs, too, along with their 2000-01 foxtrot/quickstep OD.

People who have been on FSU for awhile will remember I was a huge fan of Tanith and Ben in their early days; I just wasn’t a big fan of their Linichuk-era programs once they switched coaches.

I also think they would have been great pro skaters back when there were still pro competitions and many more touring opportunities, because I have enjoyed many of their exhib programs from both their competitive and post-competitive days (Un Vie d’Amour, Bleeding Love, Falling Slowly, If It Kills Me, etc.).

- The global and audience impact of Moulin Rouge that only Bolero Rivals
- The junior ice dancers who look up to them more than any other team (H/B, I/K, C/P)
- Their unmatched versatility, Chemistry, and Athleticism
- bonus: Being Yuna Kims fav ice dancers and having Yuzu fanboy over Tessa (pics and quotes if you don't believe me)
- Being known in your own country as icons
- Being known in general in your own country
- Being the highlight alongside yuzuru hanyu of the Pyeongchang games.

But you know according to some people in this thread having the most seasons best scores and GPF golds are the only criterias for the GOAT title, Dang, sorry V/M I guess that would make D/W and P/C the GOAT which is totally accurate. *eye roll*

Pretty much all the above just centres around the fact they are Canadian (agreed) and they are they are the most successful Olympic ice dance medallists (agreed). A lot of the other "achievements" are irrelevant to any intelligent discussion of G.O.A.T.- "The longest-standing ice dance team in Canadian history" for example.

Anyway, well done for copying all of that from wikipedia.

Declaring G.O.A.T is a comparative statement: you can't just present facts regarding V/M: you have to present facts across the board regarding other skaters and also give timeframes and competitive contexts. Otherwise, it's just myopic fanaticism.

Maybe you should look at some other sources beyond the one team you are fanatical about's wikipedia page.

Also, don't misrepresent what other people have said: it makes you look bad.
