Update : his blades broke half way through practice, some people at the rink are putting new blades on it right now and hopefully the new blade won’t take too long to get used to in the 6 min warmup for him Let's keep our fingers crossed for him
Do we have to have Jacob skate for that, though? I'd skip that part. They interviewed Jacob’s mom, grandma, and sister after the short program in the arena. They were a ball of fun. I hope they interview them again!
Nakata needs to get over this I wanna win everything mentality. This title isn't the end of the world.
And whatever happened to Alexei? Can’t remember.Sanchez is first American men’s JGPF champ since Alexei Krasnozhon in 2017-2018 season.
IIRC, he couldn’t make an Olympic run because he wasn’t yet a citizen. He retired in 2021 and went to university. And whatever happened to Alexei? Can’t remember.

Hmm... not sure how that computes. He was born in Beijing but moved to NZ as a young kid, has lived and trained there for the last 8 years (he's only 16), and he is a NZ citizen.Well, Li is no more from NZ than any of them from Australia.
I always liked seeing him compete. Based on social media, he recently got engaged and has been doing martial arts. His LinkedIn says, "Assistant Store Manager for Johnston and Murphy (40 hours a week) while at the same time earning a 3.98 cumulative GPA at Texas Christian University."And whatever happened to Alexei? Can’t remember.
Krasnozhon retired in 2021 to focus on attending a college honors program in Texas (see post above - IIRC, he wanted to be a lawyer). Pulkinen won the JGPF silver medal behind Alex K. that year. And whatever happened to Alexei? Can’t remember.
I really wish Ted would stop calling New Zealand a "developing skating nation". Uhm, no, they've had, albeit sporadically, skaters at Worlds and even the Olympics for decades. A developing skating nation is one that's never managed even that and barely can qualify skaters to Euros/4CCs or Jr Worlds.
No idea. The ISU does have a Development Commission, but I'm not exactly sure what their exact aim is other than to grow and promote skating. Is this a formal definition provided in some documentation somewhere?

I just think the use of the word "developing" implies that there's no infrastructure or much knowledge to support the sport. Countries that have been hosting their own national championships for decades don't really fall into that category, even if the interest level in the sport or the population of the country is small enough that they don't produce many champions.Okay, so it's just your personal opinion which you are stating as fact.
