Biggest difference between senior rhythm dance and junior is that there are two pattern steps - the woman is required to perform the man's (traditionally) steps either on the first or second pass, up to them. We've seen some senior teams opt for this in their one pattern step, too.

No choreographic sequence here.

Which both makes the junior version of the rhythm dance look more cohesive and is more of a technical program for apples-to-apples comparisons between teams.

Is the loose approximation of a theme the same?

Mark trying to explain these changes are going to help the longevity of the sport. What does it matter? People sit and play bingo and talk about costumes and judging politics more than learning the rules. Year after year. It won't matter if the rules go back to what they were in 1980 and go back to traditional ways.

I blocked out everything before the "visionary" comment. Did Ted & Mark mention which new ice dance horrors may be coming our way?

It's that moment when you're sitting in the audience eating a sandwich and a little bit of meat is sticking out between your lips (you can't quite suck it all in) and .... voila .... there you are on the big screen!!

This looked like a lot of work. Twizzles so.. scrunched up in the bodies, the pattern steps performed very cautiously, even the lift didn't really have oomph.

I know, I know. It's juniors. But everything they did seemed half-done.

Peal/Peal

Low level on first pattern and only 2 on second, I think they’ve performed this with more energy and elan in previous performances this season

there's not a lot of boogie in these shoes but maybe i just don't get the vision

no i will not let this go any time soon
Please, don't. FSU as a whole needs to embrace this new definition of the word "visionary" and make it a regular part of our snark.
