Sanchez kept it together but gave away GOE points here and there. I’d have it third in the free, but enough to lead overall. We’ll see what the judges do.

Sorry but Jacob is going to be the first skater today I'm not enjoying on any level. Very rushed, choppy technique on the jumps, off music and over pretending to be artistic.

Not my cup of tea.

Out of all the skates so far, this one to me unfortunately shows the least choreography and the least interpretation matching the music. Phoning a lot of this in to zzz music at that and stalking jumps. I'd easily have him 3rd on the day and probably behind Seo overall.

Maybe you have an argument for 3rd in the FS so far, but he had a 10pt lead from the SP over Seo and there's no way he should be behind Seo overall.

Fought through a few messy jumps and got it back together, good speed, continued improvements in interpretation

I did like Seo a bit better today

I'd have had the GOE and the PCS much stronger for Seo in this performance, making things much closer.

Mindlessly, and I really mean mindlessly, throwing himself around for the final 3 jumping passes from one part of the rink to the next.

Rio is rounding nicely into a mid-tier Japanese male skater with skating skills and tech that would stand out in any other country, crowd-pleasing program choices, consistency issues & no connection to the music whatsoever.

Rio was so much more fun last year when he came from 6th in the SP with his amazing 007 FS to win the JGPF. This is just... Meh.

Darn. I thought Rio still had it until the second pop. But between the second pop, the problem on the second flip, and no lutz, I think he needs to be forth forth forth (as the Pasha trolls used to say) in the free.

Still he has amazing star quality. Best basics and best program in the field.
