2019 Oscars Red Carpet & Ceremony - All Awards Lead To Roma

Coleman is good, and she will be playing the Queen in the next The Crown installment, so more awards to come. But again, Bleh! Glenn Close deserved to finally win. And Coleman needs to wrap it up and get off the stage!

Wow. That's a surprise. Shallow note: I don't like that gray thing around her. I did think she was fabulous in The Favourite. I was rooting for Glenn Close just because she has had such a stellar career and she hasn't won one. I haven't actually seen Glenn's performance.

Wow. I liked the Favourite but more as a fun costume drama than serious film. Never expected Olivia Colman to actually win for this type of film.

Now I want BoRhap to win best picture just for the exploding heads.

Bleh to you as well. It's not about who wins in any case. It's about NOT GIVING UP, as Gaga opined.

The actual best is relative anyway. I don't really care which choice wins best picture, but it would be nice to see Black Panther, BlackKlansman or If Beale Street Could Talk win Best Picture. :P :D

None of this is worth heads exploding, btw. In a month, most people will have forgotten exactly who won anyway. Forget about remembering a year from now.

I would have picked Glenn Close over Olivia, mainly because hers was a more subtle performance, but the academy often goes for the overly dramatic. Not saying Colman was undeserving.

They should give Glenn an honorary Oscar now.

It was a broad performance in The Favourite. I didn't like the picture nor the acting. Interesting way of approaching the subject matter though.

I'll be more interested to see what Coleman does in The Crown. If it's an affected performance, I will be disappointed.

Disappointed in Alfonso Cuaron winning, when others were deserving. Oh please re getting on a soapbox about issues involved in the film. There's often something pretentious in going on about that. I'm sure he was sincere, but I find it a bit self-serving and empty.

Roma already won for Best Foreign Language picture. It better not win for Best Picture.

Close's role was not Oscar baity and it was really surprising how far she got in the awards season with it. Colman's performance was simply more entertaining.

Cuaron is going to walk away with Four Oscars. Not fair.

I am going to turn off the TV when he wins for Roma again.

I don’t agree with his Best Director award either.

ETA- my prediction was wrong, and I am so happy!

I'm beginning to think it might. Planning to watch it tomorrow night, regardless.

For the record, we have people expressing dislike for Bohemian Rhapsody, we have people expressing dislike for Roma. This is a PBP and people express opinions. We're not all going to agree so maybe everyone should chill out instead of sniping at each other
