2019-2020 Fall - Spring TV New/Returning Shows

I think I do this every year too - Happy New Year, Charlie Brown is on tonight at 8 p.m. on ABC.

The second half is She's a Good Skate, Charlie Brown. They don't advertise that part.

I have it DVRd, but I'll still watch it.

I don't know if we have talked about this before, but since it's been the second half of the Happy New Year, they leave out the part in the fabric store where she buys denim for the dress. It used to be a whole half hour by itself, years before the Happy New Year part was even made. And the end showed silhouettes of the real girls skating? (We know Peppermint Patty's routine was done by Charles Schulz's daughter, but the other skaters in the competition were modeled after real girls too.)

I have the whole thing on a VCR tape from when the Disney channel was a pay channel and I got it for free for one year back in the 90's. I have no way to watch it now, but anyway.......

My favourite new shows for this season are: Prodigal Son, The Witcher, See, and The Mandalorian. Only one is from the big three networks. :shuffle:

ETA:
Make that five to include Truth Be Told. :D

Wondering if Flirty Dancing might be worth a view.

I'm on the fence. I saw a preview and I summed it up as "the Bachelor but with dancing". Its basically a dating show but with dancing from what I saw. Each person learns a dance (not with each other) then meet blindly and perform the dance ..... or something like that. I'm leaning towards :blah:

I don't have Apple+, so haven't seen Truth Be Told or See. But I agree with your other choices. Prodigal Son, The Witcher and The Mandalorian are all excellent. I also very much enjoyed the new season of Jack Ryan, and it was fun to watch The Night Manager again (it's free on Amazon Prime right now). I'm about to start watching His Dark Materials (HBO). Has anyone seen it?

I have not felt motivated to buy Apple until I saw the "Little America" preview: It is based on true stories about immigration and could we ever use something positive to combat the ignorance that Trump spews on a daily basis. It looks good.

We watched His Dark Materials. I really liked it a lot and already can’t wait for season 2! But—full disclosure—I’m a big fan of the book series, so I was predisposed to like it. 😁

FBI: Most Wanted starts January 7th at 10pm and I can’t wait! I love FBI and hope this new show is as good. It stars Julian McMahon who usually plays bad guys.

Binged all 10 episodes of "Spinning Out" on Netflix New Years Day. Enjoyed it....but....too many plot lines going on at once. Especially climaxing at the most crucial time in every scene. That said, hope there's a second season.

I thought flirty dancing was cute. The settings for each dance made it special. And I was happy to see Travis Wall. The part with the girls on bicycles each going to the side until the dancer girl was the only one left was sweet. His reaction was unexpected. And the forest of lampposts was a great romantic setting for the evening dance for her.

The premiere of Party of Five is available to watch on the Freeform app. I thought it was really good. I loved the original so I wasn't sure how I would feel about this, but I was drawn into many of the characters from the start.

I am SO ready for S2 of Manifest! I've been watching the marathon on SyFy today (I had to start watching after I got home from work...apparently they aired the whole first season today) and it's gotten me all excited about it again. It started off slow last year but really picked up in the latter part of the season. So excited! :cheer:

Anything Jane Austen and I'm in so Sandition is high on my list next week.

I keep reading it as Sandition, but I believe it is Sanditon.

The Outsider looks good but unfortunately I don’t have HBO. :(

I am surprised that HBO picked this one up because the book was disappointing IMO. The reviewer on NPR wasn't too impressed with the series.

I stand corrected. I just watched the trailer for the new season of "Fargo" and it looks awesome: Chris Rock, Ben Whishaw and Jason Schwartzman are just a few names in this impressive cast. I have enjoyed every season of this show and so of course I am all in on the new season.
