The combination of HBO and BBC One sounds potent to me: "His Dark Materials" with James McAvoy and Lin-Manuel Miranda might be a winner.

Also Ken Burns series on country music is a must-see for me. Ken Burns is a national treasure imho. It will air on PBS.

The creators of "The Good Wife" and "The Good Fight" have created a CBS series called "Evil" and I'm intrigued because they are attatched.

"The Righteous Gemstones": John Goodman, Danny McBride, Edi Patterson and Adam Devine star in a HBO series about mega evangelists and it looks raw and funny.

I like both Merritt Wever and Toni Collette and they are starring in a true story about two cops chasing a serial rapist in a limited series called "Unbelievable."

I think "Fear the Walking Dead' returns from its hiatus tomorrow night. If anyone is watching. In my view, it really doesn't compare to 'The Walking Dead' (past seasons, in any case, don't know if it will survive another season). It's like a mediocre appetizer eaten while waiting for the main course. Though I do love Reuben Blades (Mr. El Salvadore), though we don't get anywhere near enough of him.

I like the "Fear The Walking Dead" cast changes. But the storylines have been a bit uninteresting and slow. I still watch each episode "once", while with "TWD" I'd watch each new episode about 3 times during the week.

This is not a new show, but the old thread is locked, so does anybody watch Instinct?

I DVRd it Sunday night in case Big Brother ran over for some reason. It didn't. When I was deleting it, I saw the title of the episode was Go Figure real quick. Hm. Then it was too late. So I looked it up on On Demand and it was about the murder of a figure skater. I sat down last night to try to watch it and fell asleep during a commercial - sitting up!

So, female figure skater was dead on the ice. She had a male partner. At one point they said pairs and another part they said ice dance (figures <ha ha>, huh?). The main rival pair were suspects, but turned out the male parts of the pairs were having an affair (stereotyping, anybody?). That's as far as I got. There were other parts of the other people's stories mixed in there that I didn't know anything about. I couldn't fast forward On Demand, or flip channels during the commercials, so I just closed my eyes for a second! I woke up and it had finished and gone back to whatever regular channel I had on before. I would like to know who did it and why. All I see anywhere is the synopsis of having to investigate a figure skater's murder, not how it turned out. I will try starting it again this afternoon and doing something else during the part I saw, and then maybe jogging in place for the rest of it. ha ha

My suggestion - set a timer for 5 minutes before you estimate you stopped "conciously" watching then go do whatever you want until the alarm alerts you. (I know exactly how frustrating the no-fast-forward can be. This spring I fell asleep for the last 10 minutes of a 2 hour show grrrr. Then I accidentally found out that the particular channel to which the show belonged did NOT block fast forward nor skip ahead, thank goodness, probably because it was a cable station that doesn't have commercials during movies.)

Yeah. I have no idea how much I saw because there were parts with the other characters' cases and personal things in it between the dead skater. I think I will start the show and then do my few dishes very slowly! I just fell asleep reading, so I'm too tired to try that now.

I can't even watch stuff I already DVR'd at 10 p.m. because I will fall asleep. But at least I can start those over. (Funny - I used to fall asleep watching Project Runway while I was DVRing it and then fall asleep watching the DVRd program on Sunday afternoon.) I'll watch Bones reruns or Criminal Minds or something that I've either seen or don't care how it ends and not fall asleep and end up watching whatever's on at 11, 12, 1...... Last night after I woke up, brushed my teeth and went to bed, I turned the t.v. on to a rerun of a baking show on the Cooking channel. I haven't been able to fall asleep without the t.v. on since I moved back into this house and had a t.v. in the bedroom. It's small, so I only watch it to fall asleep, and I can't read anything on the screen without my glasses. (Funny 2 - before VCRs and stuff, if I fell asleep on the couch, Sadie would jump off the other end and wake me up in time to watch Knots Landing! Brilliant dog!)

Dancing with the Stars will be announcing Pros and Stars on Good Morning America on 8/21. Is it too much to ask for Tony to be on? I miss Tony. I've read there will be "tweaks" to the format. Hmmmm .....

o.k. semi-good news. I wanted to see if there were any On Demand "options" so I started the show again at 10 till 6. At 6, when I turned it off to watch the news it showed that it was "available till 7:50 today" (2 hours from when I first turned it on) and there was a resume button and start over button. So I ate and watched the news through the weather and went back to On Demand and the show. It let me resume where I left off. I did the dishes and sat through the rest of it and commercials. I almost nodded off during the last one. So now I know who did it and why. Most of it was what looked like a continuing investigation of the murder of a rich man who turned his small town into a ghost town when he moved his plant to Mexico, so there were a lot of suspects. Which would have been kind of interesting to watch from the beginning every week, but I'm not interested in those characters at all. And I've got way too much DVRd stuff to keep track of and catch up on.

Thanks for sparing many of us the pain of watching this film. :)

Watched a wildlife documentary called Born In China on the Disney Network Sunday and it was one of the beautiful things I have ever seen. I absolutely loved it until that heartbreaking gut punch in the end. Still haven’t gotten over it.

Wish I could be sure Dawa’s Cubs were okay.

I used to be annoyed at how phony the Mutual of Omaha wildlife show was, and other "Disney-fied" treatments, but now they are all far too real and I can no longer watch them because I mostly end up heartbroken.

Re - Instinct and who murdered the female figure skater.
It was the coach - he was harassing her. The skater had video.
I was laughing too at mention of dance and pairs.
Last episode of season 2 is next Sunday. I have watched from the beginning. Not perfect - but it was building a nice ensemble and getting better. Season 2 had a case of the week - but an overall case that was in every episode. I love Alan Cumming and Naveen Andrews from Lost is there. Nice summer show. Bummed it was not renewed. Maybe another place will pick it up. Bojana Novakovic - female lead - tweeted about the cancellation 'sucks balls'. lol

NBC is back on AT&T! Just in time for ANW finals. (I can record Monday's rerun of night one tonight.) And Alex Trebek is done with his cancer treatments and is back to work. At least Jeopardy! has been in summer reruns and I only missed one week at the end of last season.

In case it doesn't show up on the week's new shows - Jeopardy! is back Monday, September 9. They said they've already taped 40 shows (8 weeks).

My guilty pleasure is "Making The Team" (Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders) on CMT. The new season started in August. The show has been on for years and one thing that strikes me is how thin the women seem compared to squads in the distant past. It is worrisome. Of course those uniforms hide nothing.

Gosh, I saw a couple episodes years ago and I've actually been recording it this year! What always gets me is how much they all look alike. I haven't watched last week's episode yet. Have they done the "makeovers" yet? Funny - the ones that go into the interviews and don't even know who the owner is. Have they seen the show?

I guess some have not watched: Why waste your time trying out if you can't answer a few basic questions? I don't think they've done the makeovers yet. There does seem to be a lot of big hair đź’‡: Maybe that is a Texas thing.

Not new or returning - I'm trying not to watch the marathon of season 1 of Grey's Anatomy on FYI, back when it was good! And I've seen all the reruns 3-4 times anyway. :)

Well, I had to start watching the one that was the last episode of the first season where Addison shows up and Cristina is pregnant - and then I had to DVR the first four episodes of season two that were on after that! That's it for the marathon.

I've still got some Chicago PDs, A Million Little Things and Manifests from last season to watch. Oh, is Manifest not coming back? I don't event want to watch the ones I have.
