Surprised Big Bang Theory is still doing so well - I used to watch it all the time, but found in the last season that it had really lost its charm. Most of the characters have become caricatures, and there's a certain meanness that didn't used to be there. I've tried watching it now and then in the last season and then again last night given that it's still so popular, but IMO it's lost its way.

I am hoping that the Sheldon/Amy breakup makes things interesting, especially if Amy has a rebound. I'm also (hoping not to anger too many people here) not a fan of Leonard and Penny getting married.

Looking forward to the return of Rick Mercer tonight. How on earth is he going to cram everything he's missed over the summer into a single half-hour episode ...

Big Bang Theory has become depressing for me, I'm going through a difficult break up and with all the relationship issues being front and center right now is NOT making it any easier. The humor behind the relationship issues of Penny/Leonard and Amy/Sheldon is completely lost on me, or mostly anyway.

My biggest fear is that the charm of Leonard and Penny will go away now that they are married, and so far this season, it has been the case. Is it just me or is that a certain awkwardness to Penny this season that hasn't been there in previous seasons?

I'm very curious to see where Sheldon and Amy will go, and if and when it will come out that he had a ring for her, and how that will effect things when it does come out.

So the ancient (by TV standards) NCIS was the only scripted TV show that registered rating numbers of over 2. That does not sound good for TV land but then again how many people watched the shows later via DVR, video streaming etc.

Yeah, if you look at the numbers in general, so many shows have taken nose dives... Someone needs to come up with a solution on how to make money with the streaming and etc and fast because the live numbers just aren't reflective of the people watching or of a show's popularity anymore. I get the feeling that if they don't do something soon then they'll end up cancelling show after show after one season because the live numbers are too low and that's not going to help anyone.

It's ridiculous. We have an antenna and can't watch half of the shows live because we just can't get the channel, but I know tonight on Hulu my husband will watch The Flash and Agents of SHIELD and I'll watch The Muppets.

So happy with the iZombie premier. They picked right up where they left off without a hitch IMO.

Not as happy with The Flash. I am not big on whiny super heroes who have to go it alone for no reason. And I was really annoyed with the father leaving. Another one of those "this makes no sense but I have to do it because they don't want to pay my contract as a regular" sort of things.

I"m watching Limitless now. I never would have watched this if it wasn't for people giving it the Thumbs Up here but it's definitely my kind of show.

p.s. Lots of streaming services are paid. So the networks still make money.

Finally finished watching Extant and despite the radical change in direction between seasons one and two, I still really enjoyed the show. Hope it gets a third season.

Going through what I DVRed from Tuesday night. I am officially done with Best Time Ever. I had to stop being a masochist about this. Having Shaquille O'Neal as the celebrity announcer should be a pretty good clue that this show will be done soon.

I understand that NPH may be doing this because he doesn't want to be typecasted from HIMYM. But I think the best way to do that is to do awards shows or Broadway for awhile. He can do a few interesting movies - didn't he receive positive reviews from Gone Girl?

It would help if they made better shows. The only great show I found last year was Agent Carter. The year before was Scandal but then Season 2 happened and I couldn't get over a plot point. A lot of people like it though. This year, I checked out Quantico, Limitless and Minority Report and I got bored. I will go back to watch Limitless ep 2 but I'm not wowed. I like Grandfathered and The Grinder but their second episodes were weaker than the pilot in my view.

I can't stand the all the popular procedural shows out there though so maybe it's just me.

Last Scream Queens episode was fantastic, that parody of Taylor Swift sending presents to her fans was really the best TV of this season so far

To whom do they whine if they are going it alone?

I mostly watch cable series and some British series, maybe 1 or 2 US network series a year before they get canceled or I get bored. Not much into procedurals. So much of my entertainment budget goes toward premium cable channels and Netflix.

Nephew: You watch a lot of shows with murders.
Me: Yes, but I've also been watching Call the Midwife on Netflix. No murders, not much death in that one. But there is usually blood and screaming.
Nephew: Birth is pretty similar to death that way.

Good insight for a 13-year-old.

The people who are trying to help them. But whose help they can't possibly accept because ..... fill in whiny excuse here .... Or, if we're super "lucky" they break the 4th wall and whine to the audience. Because that's always fun.

Loved the start of "American Horror Story: Hotel" !!! Really f*cked up...but gooood. Can't wait for the rest of the regular cast to be introduced.

This season is suppose to have shades of "addiction" as it's theme.

I agree. I didn't mind it when it was just Batman and Spiderman, but that trope gets super old super fast. I'm really not a fan of it anymore because I think it just feeds into people's fantasies of being a lone suffering hero who wallows in self-pity but sacrifices happiness just because it seems to be the "mature" thing to do. That's not maturity, that's just ego. I prefer it when shows turn that trope around and the hero realizes nobody does anything alone and it's condescending to make the decision to keep someone away for their own safety (and because they won't be happy with you) on behalf of someone else (especially if the other person is a woman). Let the person, whose intelligence and decision-making abilities you should probably respect because otherwise why are they even in the show/movie, make the decision for themselves.

Yep. Though, in the Flash's defense, the people around Barry told him to suck it up and they weren't going anywhere and he seemed okay with it.

Just caught up on the second ep of Blood & Oil. It's still farfetched in many ways, and many of the characters mumble (I'm lookin' at you Chace Crawford), but it's settling in to be a nighttime soap in the tradition of Dallas, Knots etc. I don't know if it will last, but there are some big names attached to it, so maybe.

I totally went off Big Bang 2 seasons ago, but kept going and really enjoyed the last season. So I am keeping an open mind on this one. I am also not keen on Penny and Leonard being married. It all seems a bit forced now, is it just me or has the spark really gone?

I also hope Sheldon and Amy get back together soon, or maybe that Sheldon finds someone else!
