2015 - 2016 TV Season

Tonight is the second episode of "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" on the CW. I thought the premiere was SO good! Unfortunately, it looks like the ratings for the first episode were very poor. The only good thing about all of this is that the CW gives it's shows more of a chance to catch on (whereas the big three networks yank some shows off the air VERY quickly). So I expect to get at least a handful of episodes of this wonderfully creative and imaginative show before it might becomes a distant memory.... :wuzrobbed

My two favorite new shows of the season are Blindspot and Quantico. But, I'm not sure how long those shows will hold my interest. Do we have to wait until the end of the series to find out who the real terrorist is in Quantico? I will get really annoyed if we have to wait a long time to find out. A whole series with scenes of Alex running while we wait to learn why will get old. Similarly, how long are we going to wait to find out who Jane Doe really is in Blindspot and why her memory was wiped out and she was covered with tattoos?

This is an interesting series reunion/renewal. The Gilmore Girls eight years later?

What happened to Jane the Virgin? Haven't watched since it started again - but I have it on my DVR.
It's on at 9PM on The CW. But has dropped in the ratings in the new season compared to last year. Last year it had "The Originals" as a lead in. Now it's "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend".

I've been loving Quantico too but have been wondering the same thing about whether it will get old fast. One thought that occurred to me is that maybe it will be like Desperate Housewives where there was a mystery in the opening episode that was wrapped up by the end of Season 1 while another mystery was set up in the Season 1 Finale to continue into the second season. I don't know if that would work as well with Quantico though, since the mystery often felt like a side plot in Desperate Housewives while it pretty much is the whole plot in Quantico. I definitely don't have the patience to wait past the Season 1 finale to find out who the terrorist is though...I think if it's going to go on like that for more than one season, I'll give the show up and catch it later on Netflix if it turns out to be any good.

I do, actually, like Code Black. I think that might be more because it's filling the void that E.R. left (never got into Gray's Anatomy) and it's on TV at a time when I'm usually looking for something to watch. I haven't yet decided if it's a good show, or just one that I enjoy watching.

OTOH, I am loving the second season of Fargo. Both on an on-the-edge-of-my-seat what is going to happen next level and the serious appreciation of the excellent writing, directing, and acting. It's like getting a master class in how to put together a limited series. Not to mention the brilliant bits of dark humor. When the credits roll, I just sit there and marvel at it all.

I'm finally all caught up on Jane the Virgin season 1 and just started the second! Charming as ever, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the show explores the evolving dynamics of each relationship. I will say though that first and foremost, I am #TeamJane. But between Rafael and Michael, I like Rafael for her better.

Also, Agents of SHIELD has been really good this season. I like that we're going to learn more about Simmons' time in the (I'm guessing) other dimension.

:fragile:
I'll be incredibly sorry to see it go. That said, I'm not altogether surprised. I found it really odd that they got rid of Carrie, Tory and Grant this season, and when I saw that, wondered if the end was coming.
I'll confess that I have found the show different, and less compelling, without that trio (I generally found them to be almost like comic relief if that makes any sense) and have actually probably missed as many episodes as I've watched this season.

I haven't seen any this season since I don't get Discovery any more, but was looking forward to catching up online. So it wasn't until I saw news about the show ending that I learned the build team had gone. I agree that they really carried the show along, and I can't imagine Mythbusters without them.

I tuned into ep 2 of this season of Empire on recommendation from a friend, and was sold before the first commercial break. I've now also picked up season 1 on DVD, so we're catching up on that as well.

If you like nighttime soaps - families, family business, lots of corporate intrigue and backstabbing, lives of the rich and famous, moments and quotes you'll talk about the next day, etc - you'll love this as it's also high quality in terms of writing, acting, well drawn lead characters etc. And if you like music, it's outstanding. Musical director is Timbaland, and it's all original.

In some ways it's a different version of Nashville - more urban, more edgy, more intense, more fast paced.

IMO of course :)

Uhm ... what did I miss. I thought the next live musical that NBC was going to do was going to be The Music Man? I just saw a commercial tonight that its going to be The Wiz. What happened to The Music Man?

Loved Supergirl last night and since this is only the first episode, I expect the show to only get better from here. :cheer2: I hope it lasts a few seasons but this is CBS so I am trying not to get my hopes up too high. Also what's with the weird 8:30 start time last night?! BTW I loved the waitress in the background who said, "A female superhero. Finally someone my daughter can look up too!".
