2015 - 2016 TV Season

Here's the new thread. I couldn't get Minam's link to work for some reason so I thought I would just bump it.

I'm hoping the Criminal Minds spinoff will be better than the episode that led into it. That episode was just bad. I also hope they (CBS etc.) treat it better than they did the last spinoff - Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. In that one they ended it on a cliffhanger and never resolved anything.

I'm still mad about the way Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior got canceled and that freaking cliffhanger!

J. L. Hewitt may just be returning to Criminal Minds next season as Kate Callahan.

I may be the third person who is pleased The Night Shift was renewed. I was kind of surprised, because the season finale had a series finale feel to it.

Looks like a hoot Alias...Lea has a different look. And I like Keke Palmer....I hope she stays alive for awhile. At the moment I am enjoying iZombie more than any other spring/summer fare so far.

I love iZombie! They are doing a really good job.

DH and I also binge watched Grace and Frankie. I really loved most aspects of it. The relationship between the kids and their parents and the experiences of Grace and Frankie seem so true-to-life. What has been disappointing is the relationship of the husbands. I have a fair number of gay friends, many who have been in long term relationships and many of those recently married and none of them act like the two guys. Their relationship reads to me like what women think a relationship should be like -- which since the show is produced and written by mostly females, makes sense, I guess. I have a smaller number of lesbian couple friends and the guys act more like them.

I've only watched two episodes so far, so I don't know if this will become obvious to me as I continue. What did you find not true to life about their relationship?

It's a couple of things. In the first couple of episodes, I thought they had no chemistry and seemed awkward with each other. Since they've supposedly been together 20 years I assume that was because the actors are straight and just getting used to each other. That part did get better as the series went on, luckily.

The rest is about the pet names they call each other and some of the fights they had and how they resolved them and also some of the body language. (A lot is the body language, now that I think about it.) Also, they are way more into PDA than the people I know even the younger couples who haven't been in the closet for decades (or at all in some cases).

The people I know in real-life seem more like two guys who just happen to be in love and so the way they interact with each other is more like the way guys interact. Less PDA, less calling each other "sweetheart" in a non-ironic way, a bit more high-fiving and fist bumps. Even the way my guy friends hug each other is different.

Has anyone heard about the fate of Switched at Birth? I know it premiered it's 4th season in January but it stopped in April and I haven't heard anything if it's being dropped or if it's just on hiatus.

Bumping this up since we're getting close, and also because I just came across this teaser for Samantha Bee's upcoming latenight show on TBS. (I'm already trying to figure out how I'll fill the Daily Show void ...)

No date yet, or even a title. But if she's anything like her Daily Show appearances this is going to be great. I just hope it's syndicated on a station I get! (Probably will, since Conan is.)

Thanks for posting the full premier date schedule link, that's helpful.

I haven't heard or seen much about any of the new shows, though, other than The Muppets (yay!) and Minority Report.

Any shows bolded, I'm really excited about.

New Shows I'm looking forward to: "Heroes Reborn", "Supergirl", "Minority Report", "Into The Badlands", "Blindspot" and "The Expanse".

And Returning Shows: "The Walking Dead", "American Horror Story:Hotel", "Agent's of SHIELD", "The Originals", "Flash", "iZombie", "Gotham" "The Leftovers" and "Hemlock Grove" (on Netflix).
