For me I am looking forward to: Inhumans, Star Trek,(if I can find it somewhere) and maybe Lethal Weapon.

I watched Discovery last night. While I certainly spotted a hole or two when it comes to the Star Trek timeline, I generally enjoyed it and am looking forward to seeing next week's episodes.
I've read comments about it a few places, and am astonished that the things most people are complaining about are things that they have been very public/upfront about in the trailers and promotional materials. So many comments I've seen whingeing about the speaking of Klingon and the subtitles.

I have some happy news. Apparently DirecTV negotiated with Raycom Media, Inc. because it is now 7:45 p.m. as I'm writing this and I'm watching Young Sheldon on my local CBS station. The blackout was supposed to happen at 7 p.m. (central) here. So, I am a very happy person at this moment! :biggrinbo

I sure wish The Voice and Dancing With The Stars didn't come on at the same time. I guess this would be a good time to have HD DVR. Anyway I've been seeing previews of The Good Doctor for at least a month now. It's coming on next after Dancing With The Stars! :)

I just finished watching the first installment of Alias Grace. To be honest, I have never read a Margaret Atwood novel, so I am coming in completely blind. But I like Sarah Polley. This has some of the hallmarks of Canadian movies. Kinda laboured, kinda static. But I will stick with it. At least, I like it better than Book of Negroes.

Don't normally watch American sitcoms except Big Bang Theory but checked out Young Sheldon and Me, Myself & I. This despite finding the promos for both shows rather underwhelming. I don't know if I will continue to watch either but in particular thought Me, Myself & I was a lot more interesting than I had expected.

Caught the first 2 episodes of Star Trek: Discovery on Space in Canada. The look of the show and the special effects seem really good. Sorry, but I am going to join the ranks of those who found the Klingon dialogue with sub-titles to be heavy going. I am saying this as someone who has studied a number of languages, and someone who often uses closed captioning rather than turning up the sound when watching a show where the soundtrack overtakes the dialogue or when a particular actor speaks much more softly than others. (I'm talking to you, Jonny Millar.) Last night I found there was so much reading to do that I was having trouble following which character was saying which line and I was missing the acting. Also the delivery was all so forceful and choppy, and mangled by the prosthetics that it did not have the rhythm of a real language to my ear. As for the rest of the story, very dark and unrelenting so far. Once we get more into the characters and how they relate to each other I will find that a little less oppressive.

Young Sheldon was cute, but I don't see how they can sustain interesting storylines for a full season or more. The character has so many childlike qualities that we've already seen for the last 10 years, so perhaps this will be about his adult-like qualities when he was actually young?

Casting of a younger version of Laurie Metcalf is perfect, the older brother has possibilities and the father isn't bad, but the sister is already annoying IMO, and lacking in any depth. Interested to hear what others think.

Also, for those who follow Big Bang more closely than I do, I recall Sheldon's twin sister in the early seasons but then rarely if ever mentioned again, but was the brother ever mentioned? And what became of his father?

Not really. Draggy. Also, lead actress not that great. Only really compelling character was Cuba Gooding Jr.

The woman who plays Young Sheldon's mom is Laurie Metcalf's actual daughter! And the first episode Sheldon's mom was on BBT, she mentioned something to the effect of how her two other two kids were pretty dumb, so Sheldon was not as hard to handle.

I didn't remember the older brother either. I used to know what happened to the father. Can't remember now but you can see cracks in their marriage so maybe divorce?

I love Sheldon's twin sister. You can kind of tell that she also doesn't buy into a lot of the parent's beliefs but is just more emotionally intelligent and therefore able to hide it better. Plus she's not actually dumb, just not a genius like Sheldon -- which jives with the character when she appeared on TBBT.

Oh, I loved This is Us. That fight between Beth and Randall was so traumatizing.

I am not a parent, but how would adopting an older child affect the two girls. Would it make no difference or would it be more disruptive? Would it be better to adopt some older than the two girls?

Although I still don't know how I'll be able to watch it in France, I can't wait for Will & Grace revival. It's one of my favorite TV shows !

I watched The Good Doctor but I'm not sure if I'll bother with the 2nd episode. I felt clubbed over the head with a formula.

Poor kid has a hard life. Everyone is so mean. There are pure asshole people and pure saints with no in-betweens. Wooden boy with difficulty expressing emotions asks pointed personal questions that makes everyone have the big feels about their own humanity and meaning of existence. People get to look sappy, smug and self-righteous at each other as these big points are made. (barf, barf, barf).

Maybe I was just in a really crappy mood but all of it just ended up pissing me off. The more they tried to force me liking the main character the more determined I became to not like him.

^ Weird because, while I did not watch it, I got so sick of the commercials that I formulated in my head what the show would be like and that was it exactly! I watched The Brave instead. I'll stick with that for now because I like stories like that. I'm also going to check out Seal Team tonight. And I can't wait for SWAT to start!

I thought The Young Sheldon was really strong. And I don't watch The Big Bang Theory...I've just seen bits and pieces of it here and there. I thought the cast was all very strong and the writing was top-notch. But now we have to wait until November 2nd for the second episode? :wuzrobbed

Star Trek: Discovery was pretty good, but I'm not too disappointed that it's moving to a channel that I don't get. The highlight was the look of the show, the costumes, the sets and the special effects. It looked like a big-budget movie instead of a tv show on a specialty channel. The lowlight was the two leads. I thought their characters were both rather wooden, probably because their voices are awkward/annoying. It sounded like both had been criticized at some point for their speaking voices and they just spent five years taking diction classes. Although Michelle Yeoh's English hasn't improved much since she started taking on English-speaking roles. I've enjoyed her in pretty much everything I've seen her in, but not here. I liked the supporting characters much better and kind of wish the two leads had had some sort of fight scene where they mistakenly projected themselves into outer space, never to be seen again.

The best thing to ever happen to Chicago PD was Sophia Bush leaving (IMO) because for the first time in about two years, I was completely caught up in the entire show and didn't get bored and start doing something on my computer halfway through it. How nice it is when the rest of the cast actually gets to shine and be part of the story! :p We also officially have Antonio back in the Intelligence Unit (I knew it was coming but I'm still happy that it's official) and that makes me extremely happy since he's one of my fave characters (love me some Jon Seda....). All of this has me very excited to see where CPD is going this season. Really enjoyed their season premiere! :cheer:
