2026 Junior Worlds - Pairs SP & FS

It's a shame that Ukraine doesn't have more pairs teams - Hannah & Ivan are guaranteed to earn Ukraine 3 spots in every JGP event now with only 3 countries potentially able to place higher than them.

ETA - from the JGP General Announcement regarding how JGP entry #s are determined:

Canada won the Junior Worlds pairs title the first three years it was held, 1976-78, but never since.

Tonight, two more cracks at being the first since Underhill/Martini.

FlorWang - 3tw - rough landing again; SBS 3s+2a+2a (she doubled the S); SBS 3t - fall for Olivia; throw 3lo - steps out & looked to be two-footed; first lift - alright; second lift - struggle; throw 3s - beautiful; BODS - decent; combo spin - meh; choreo seq - alright.

That program was a struggle overall. I don't know who is available as potential partners for either of them but they really have outgrown each other & should consider starting the new Olympic cycle with new partners.

Well... On the positive side of things... The USA won't finish worse than 6th & 7th overall, so we have 3 teams for Jr Worlds and 3 entries at each JGP next season.

Second throw fall. If they get those under control this team could be a menace.

What do these costumes have to do with The Greatest Showman?

Guo/Zhang - 4tw - okay; throw 3f - fall; SBS 2a+1a+2a - rough, two-footed landing for her on the 2nd 2a; SBS 3s - she fell & he was a mess on his landing; first lift - very nice; FIDS - FFS, can the Pairs Tech Committee take away the bullet point for the blade grab feature? Combo spin - pretty decent; these costumes do NOT read "The Greatest Showman" at all; throw 3s - both hands down & a fall; second lift - good; choreo seq - mess - they nearly fell on their ending position.

Honestly, I'd have Herrera/Khobta ahead of this team. I doubt it will happen because their TES was ahead of HerKhob before it disappeared from the screen; but that program was a hot mess of some really good stuff and a lot of messy elements.

WOW! The judges didn't hold them up just because of the 4tw! Herrera/Khobta medal!!!!!!

KempEliz - 3tw - bit over his shoulder on the landing but nice air; SBS 3s+1a+1a - decent; SBS 3t - and she falls; throw 3z - small but landed; first lift - decent; throw 3lo - rough landing, hand down & a bit of a stumble; combo spin - lovely; second lift - very nice; choreo seq - nice; BODS - solid.

Wellllll, not their best but their lead from the SP will surely keep them ahead of HerrKhob.

Everyone watching should probably brace themselves for DesThra to be a hot mess in this FS. They've never responded well in pressure situations & having the lead with the Jr World title on the line is the biggest pressure cooker situation they've ever face.

Such a supportive post :D

DesThra - 3tw - okay; SBS 2a+1a+2a - bit messy on the 1st 2a for her; throw 3lo - step out; first lift - good; throw 3s - fall; BODS - decent; second lift - nice; SBS 2s - done, but... choreo seq - fine; combo spin - disjointed.

Well, that wasn't nearly the mess I anticipated but they absolutely did not beat KempEliz here today. They'll stay on the podium and probably beat HerrKhob - though I think HerrKhob are the more promising team longterm.

If you asked me to pick a team from this event to pose for the cover of Vogue, it would be these two by a mile. And their basic skating and performance is great.

But the jumps and throws remain a work in progress, and I don’t really think there’s been all that much progress.
