Friday watch party: 1999 Worlds SP

Oh, Michelle. :(

You're still gorgeous. Even though that haircut doesn't work, and I'm usually all for the pixie cuts.

Indeed she did, and it kicked up just as much of a fuss (at least among skating fans) as when Felicity cut her hair. And if you don't get that reference, get off my lawn, whippersnapper!
OMG Felicity, I had forgotten all about her!

That was choreographically well-put-together. Mistakes and an easier solo triple (but probably some of the most steps preceding it) aside, that wasn't so bad...at least not as bad as I remembered.

Very unpopular opinion but this is probably my favorite SP ever from Kwan. Absolutely brilliant and unique choreography. Love the placement of elements, too.

I was a huge Butyrskaya fan back in the day (still am), but in terms of presentation, this program is on a different level.
Dream of Desdemona was my favorite.

And now Malinina who 21 years later has a 13 year old son at junior worlds skating as a homicidal/suicidal biker.

You know, those scores for tech were fairly low except for the 5.5 but placeholder and all of that. Even with a 5.4/5.4, the AUT judge put her in 4th.

Can I pull the foreigner card here? :wuzrobbed

I'll allow it! :) "Felicity" was a show about a college girl, and she started off with long curly hair but then cut it. I didn't see much of the show, but a lot of fans swore it was all downhill from there.

Strike 'cold,' the announcers said Kwan had the flu and was on medication. The fact she even skated is remarkable. Her sp was one of the more creative programs of this entire event. But Carmen turned out to not be perfect karma for Kwan. #MemoryLaneAlliteration

Can't believe her lutz did her in. GP final showed the judges were ready to give it to her.

I love Kwan's program, but I don't think I would put that behind Kwan, especially in a technical program. :drama: Soldatova should have been below both.
