  • Wakaba with triple axel attempt and clean skates
  • Hawayek/Baker ahead of Wang/Liu and delivering a great FD (honestly, snake is overrated and this dance is soooo underrated :drama: )

RusJunNats:

  • Mozalev/Gumennik/Kutovoy on the podium
  • Khudaberdieva for Rus#1 :kickass:
  • Sinitsyna for title and Junior Worlds
  • clean skates for pairs. I don’t have any favorites so just want all teams to show their best

This is going to be a very old-school reference but does Rozanov remind anyone else of the actor Oleg Menshikov (as he looked back in the nineties). I've been on a post-Euros withdrawal interview and youtube binge and these are the kind of thoughts I'm having. I may need an intervention. This is a cry for help lollll. I think I may be getting to that stage of life where everyone starts to remind you of someone from when you were younger.

Since the caller, Yang, is the same caller as at Cup of China, I so wouldn't put any money on that. Also the Assistant Specialist, Elek, had Wang & Liu ahead of Hawayek & Baker on the TES mark in the RD by quite a bit at Nebelhorn. (He nailed W&L in the free there though). Anyway, as far as the warm-up split goes, it could wind up being significant in the opposite way. I would say that W&L's most competitive number all season has been the RD. If they do manage to upset H&B in the RD here (and this event is in Asia as well as being 4CCs, both of which are often a much better sign for W&L than competitions in Europe), then H&B would themselves probably wind up being on the wrong side of the warm-up group prior to the free dance--which historically is the portion of competition where H&B usually have their stronger results.

Well he has a 3 axel, but he has apparently transferred to another school that I'm not familiar with. At least he didn't go to any of the big name coaches. Will we see him again? TBD.

MT/M. I really don't like this team, but they have an awesome set of programs this season which works so well in their favour.
P/J. Would have had them in lead, but I am biased. Gap to S/H too close.
S/H. They lost all the spark to me this season? Am I alone here?
I/B. The non-jumps are such a turnoff. Lubov presence alone cannot compensate.
JPN. Duhamel that silent in knc is, ehm, interesting :D
CHN3. Where the hell are they? Wang/Wang? :drama:

US pairs. Dear Knierims, dear Gribducks, little story from german athletics: javelin field is very competitive here. Last season a guy called Bernhard Seifert was nominated for world championships. At that point in GER javelin guys still competing included the current olympic champion, the current world champ and a 3rd GER guy being ranked 3rd in worlds ranking. Seifert was ranked 5th in SB and was chosen by german fed to compete at worlds. He has never been to worlds before. He lost by some distance nationals to another 4th guy (germany has had 4spots for worlds) and his shape from early season has gone. Seifert decided to step down and leave his spot to 4th guy named Julian Weber who was left off in the initial selection. This decision needs some balls and fair sportmanship. But it's doable. Just sayin'.
 
BTW, beside some :gallopin1 deluxe happening saturday, we are losing The Leftovers folks.
