The Soviet system in general valued control, the North American individualism and self-reliance.
That's fine for the people paying the bills (including parents and sponsors), but that doesn't stop American- born and - trained coaches, judges, and federation officials to be unsurpassed in their control-freakishness.

I didn’t write that about what the officials prefer but what the skaters prefer. Ruslan resented Igor not designing his whole skating life, including diet. Igor, also Russian-born, clearly has the retail approach.

This is a huge issue in American healthcare, where you can have five great specialists who never talk to each other, it’s the patient’s job to coordinate.

I got a feeling that Ruslan was not only dissatisfied with the amount of time Igor spent with them, but mostly with the quality of his work when he did work with them. Ruslan said he didn't even want to attend Igor's practice sessions, so he probably felt they were useless or something. So I am not sure it is just the cultural difference.

According to this official announcement (in Chinese), Medvedeva, Zabiiako / Enbert and Sinitsina / Katsalapov will be at Shanghai Trophy (Oct 3-5).
Will the results count in the isu ranking list or is it all about the money?!

It probably doesn't matter, because WS points from only two internationals count (for a given season), and points for 1st and 2nd at CS events > win at a regular senior international.

It's an invitational for one full flight of each discipline, but according to the announcement, aside from a host spot in Ladies, Men, and Dance, the invitees have to have placed Top 12 at 2019 Worlds or, if not enough people accept, age-eligible medalists at 2019 Jr. Worlds.

Thanks. I see Aleksandre all the time on TV and was wondering who he is. Is the Gen Dir the head of the federation?
Yes, he is the head of the Federation, administratively; his official title in Russian is:
Генеральный директор Федерации фигурного катания на коньках России (ФФККР)
General Director of the Russian Figure Skating Federation.

I think he has been processing this for some time. But I remember an elite ice dancer stating definitively in an interview that if your federation does not support you it will just be a frustrating experience. I hope he has moved on from that uneasy time.

Victoria Safonova just skated in her first Belorussian event (12 hours ago) - Summer Cup of BSU.

She beat every local girl by almost 25 points, received 64.17 points in SP.
(unfortunately the event video is no longer available).
