ISU statement on Mariah Bell and Eun soo Lim

How do you disprove such a thing? It's not like Bell can present an alibi, and skaters who've said that they saw no bullying or that Raf wouldn't stand for it (Rippon, Wagner) were accused of enabling bullying. Given that the one accusation for which relevant video emerged turned out to be false, it really undermine's the rest of the allegations.

The onus is on ATS to provide evidence that supports their claims. If they can't, they owe Bell an apology at the very least.
Well ATS made some claims related to the bullying that are easily disprovable- that Mariah got an official warning from someone (the rink?), that they had to be seperated for training sessions, and that they had to be seperated in the locker room.

Again - how can that be disproven? If it never happened, there's going to be no record. But ATS can still claim it happened and wasn't recorded. They can argue that any bullying happened off-camera or when other people were not around. And the people who believe that Mariah Bell is the most evil skater who ever evilled will continue to move the goalposts.

Actually, whatever happened I hope we never find out about it. It’s for the parties involved to address. Not everything has to be public and our business.

Lim is talented, some coach will definitely take her.

Her options are a bit limited though as I’ve never heard of Japanese coaches taking foreign skaters and it is a really rare occurrence for Russian coaches to do so. I would assume Brian won’t take her because of ats (but you never know.). However, Tom Z would jump at the chance, l bet.

Tom Z already has Young You.

You'd think the video would show it clearly did not happen, but some Bell attackers are cutting the NBC Nightly News video to just the part where Lim gets nicked without sound or context that Bell was running through her program and think it shows Bell did "kick" Lim or something based on the way Bell kicks forward as she's skating preparing for her double axel.

Of course she can apologise. There are plenty of newspapers present at worlds. If she is unhappy with how her agency is working on her behalf, the easiest thing would be to give an interview explaining that the injury was her fault because whoever’s music is playing has the right of way and she wasn’t paying attention, and adding a public apology to Mariah for negative publicity, it would stop all this mess. Saying that she can’t do anything is not true. She was old enough to sign with an agency, so she must be old enough to take responsibility for the agency’s actions.

She did not sign with her agency, her parents signed her up.

I would agree in normal circumstances, but the fact is that this was made very public and I believe any resolution/outcome should be made public so we can all have closure and move on.

The way to clear up the alleged stabbing and assault would be for someone in Eunsoo’s team to clarify Mariah had the right of way, it was Eunsoo’s responsibility to move, and the contact was unintentional and then post the video of Mairah’s run through. The end.

I watched GMA early this morning and the video was replayed several times. Mariah's program music was playing and she was skating during her warm up practice. She was concentrating on her program, and it was unintentional. It was also the only time she had to practice her program especially since her program music was playing and it was her turn to practice. She didn't even realize that her skate struck and injured Eunsoo. In other words, it wasn't done on purpose. Period.

I think the video is pretty clear that it was very unlikely an intentional act. These types of collisions happen every day at rinks around the world. Trust me, I have a multitude of scars to prove.

Also, another thing to keep in mind is that at high level, congested training centers, it's fairly common for rivals to use different locker rooms, even if they aren't necessarily on bad terms. Another thing to remember is that we're talking about two girls who are mid-teens and early twenties. They may just not get along. That happens all the time in sports and life.

I have no insider knowledge about this specific issue, but I don't get the impression that Raf is one to let a lot of drama go down under his roof, and I would be surprised if there is a lot of truth to what is being said. I'd imagine they are two top ladies who don't get along/aren't bff's. But who knows...

I agree, but I feel thats not going to happen. ATS started this narrative and they need to save face. This was never really about Ensoo or Mariah in the first place.

The allegations can from an agency who said Mariah "suddenly kicked and stabbed" their skater. That clearly didn't happen. Why would anyone believe anything else they say?

The narrative some people are going with is "Mariah had bullied her so much that she naturally thought the incident was intentional."

Tom Z already has Young You.

He has had more than one American at a time too. But if Eunsoo wants to be THE skater at her rink (which maybe what this is really all about), perhaps Carolina Kostner’s coach is an option.

Are people looking at different video? Are there two videos? The video I've seen (TSL/NBC) shows Bell skating past Lim and then Lim reaching down to her leg. But any contact was NOT captured by the video I've seen, as the board is blocking it. You can see Bell swing her leg, but it's impossible to determine from the camera angle & the boards to see that contact actually happened. That's not to say that it didn't, just there are limitations to what the video tells us. It certainly tells us that there was no kicking, stabbing or deliberate intent if there was contact. It tells us that if there was contact, it was a slight graze at most, since Bell didn't not notice nor lose her balance. But the boards prevent us from seeing the actual contact. Unless there's another video floating around I haven't seen that shows another angle.

The thing is Mariah was doing her run through and she was in the moment. When you are in that frame of mind how can you intentionally hit some one?

I noticed the tension in the K and C with them as well. However, he wasn’t all warm and fuzzy to Mariah Bell, a pat on the arm and saying something about how she was a bit slow. So, while there was tension it wasn’t like he was a total teddy bear to Mariah either.

LOL! I was beginning to wonder if people had him confused with Kori. Anyone remember his reaction to Bell at US Nationals? He's not one to be happy with a skater after they make an error. If the skater requires ego stroking this is the WRONG coach.

Im not surprised. They will never own up to the fact they were misinformed.

Will she now say coach bullied and hurt her? This girl, some posters say is child, mightt not be someone ready for seniors. She can’t understand practice rules and seems immature based on her representation. Raf should send her home

More importantly what person in their right mind would intentionally kick/attack/injure someone when nearly everyone in the rink is watching you? It was an official practice in "Figure Skating Hollywood" aka Japan in an arena with dozens of journalists, photographers, reporters and spectators all over the place. PLUS her freakin' music was playing which meant even more attention was on her b/c she was doing a run-thru. She'd have to be the dumbest mean girl on the planet to attack someone while everyone is looking at her.

Not to mention a narcissistic sociopath. It’s basucally impossible to fathom that Mariah, in front of the entire skating community at the world championships during her run through, , stabbed and kicked and assukted a 16 year old. I can’t even believe people were waiting for the video to have an opinion. 😂

Meanwhile, this accident is not discussed at all:
"
Our intrepid reporter on the ground has managed to find Vanessa James for a quick chat following her earlier crash and fall.
"I was a little out of it after the six-minute warm-up and the collision with Matteo. I didn't see it but people told me that he really did try to save me and he had really good reflexes so I thank him for that.
"During the program, I started getting really tired, so I think it was just the shock and a little bit of a headache but all in all there's no serious injuries or anything so."
When asked if she had undergone concussion protocols, James confirmed she had seen the team doctor, "to just make sure, because I have a headache, but other than that my eyes aren't dilated or anything so it should be fine."
Will she skate tomorrow? "I think so. We've had some hard situations but we always push through them."
