UPDATED: OMFG . . . Adam Rippon, Tonya Harding and Mirai Nagasu are on the DWTS' all-athlete cast

All I know is that Tonya, like her or not, always gives you a choice regarding whether or not to watch her. It is within your free will to choose whether or not to watch a clueless hot mess. At the end of the day, Tonya can continue telling the types of lies she tells because they are completely inconsequential to anybody else's life at this point and have probably kept her from committing suicide.

. . . it is not like Nicole Bobek, who is a convicted drug trafficer, where the business model is that you create repeat customers by getting people addicted. Moreover, the drug was METH, METH!

One thing I will say about Tonya is that post 40 she appears to have maybe broken the cycle of abuse she grew up with. I wish her luck.
Yeah, her continued insistence that Nancy was unlikable and she, Tonya was the true victim of the whack is annoying as heck, but at least she seems to have stopped battering people.
 
Jeff was the one that abused Tonya. Jeff was also charged with abusing wife #2 (the one that ended up dying in drug rehab). I Haven't heard of any incidents with wife #3. You are allowed to defend yourself if someone attacks you. No one did anything when they saw LaVona abuse Tonya, and Jeff never paid for abusing Tonya. I think he might of done some time for his abuse of the 2nd wife.

No, he got away with abusing her too. I believe the charges were dismissed.

He only copped a plea for the whack because prosecutors were hotter to get Tonya’s head on a spike (after all, she was the memorable “big name”) and offered him a sweetheart deal.

I've never watched DWTS before, but this entertainingly batshit thread is convincing me to give it a shot (and the season only being 4 weeks certainly doesn't hurt, either).

Sure isn't like Bobek, whose arrest served as a wake up call to change her life. She has had zero incidents with law enforcement since her release. She's rebuilt her life, developed new skills, gotten married and been nothing but positive these past eight years. Let's see Harding go eight years without playing off being a victim. Not excusing what Bobek did in the past. Some dark, bad things. But if someone is being served up as a positive example, it should be how she has truly moved forward.

The media also isn’t ready to pounce and denigrate her at the slightest provocation. I doubt if she had done anything noteworthy, except getting married, we’d even hear about it.

DWTS has always taped at CBS Television City on Beverly. I can walk to the lot. Most popular lot in Hollywood.

Just because a show is on a certain network doesn't mean it tapes at its corresponding networks studio. Will and Grace is at CBS Radford. Now its on Universal lot. It has never taped at NBC studios. CBS Television City also has American Idol (Fox) and on and on and on. Then theres Sunset Gower, ABC Disney studio, Paramount lot, Warner Brothers lot, Sony lot, Fox lot, Culver lot (Gone with the wind, The Nanny). Hardly anything tapes or films at the network studio that distributes it.

YOU ARE EXCUSING BOBEK.

Bobek permanently injured other's people's brains, and you want to associate the word "positive" with her.

Moreover, how in the hell is Bobek becoming a circus acrobat any better than Tonya doing TV piece work on shows like "America Dumbest" when it's all just "look at me, look at me" show business. The funny part is that it is documented that Tonya has her GED while all sources say that the last time anybody checked, Nicole had not earned a GED as of 2010ish.

If you think Bobek is redeemable but not Tonya, then you are crazy. You are possibly not crazy, if you think they are both redeemable because Bobek did far worse and paid far less than Harding (.)

So any ice skating U.S. woman skater who isn’t the equivalent of the perfect princess is trash? I take nothing away from the wrong-doings of Harding (and now) Bobek, but maybe this crazy pressure of having a squeaky clean image is an example of what contributed to their past mistakes. Some of you may claim to get it, but generally it tends to be those that are living a comfortable life and whose idea of dysfunction is mild that tend to have the luxury to follow this sport. This all just really shows why the “pretty princess” image continues to be alive and well in the U.S. system. I have no clue how Bobek came into the conversation but she seems to be on a good path in her life now, and Tonya might still be a compulsive liar but it’s not like she’s the worst of criminals. Like come on :rofl::rolleyes:

AS for Nikole Bobeque, she is the queen of substance abuse she makes Maria Sharparova seem like a innocent bunny. Anyone whom tried to defend Bobeque should of taken a long, hard, deep, thick hard look into the mirror.

My wife and I spent the evening making puffy fish tacos and sorting are hankerchiefs by color, now we log on to this sight and people are saying both Tonia and Bobeque are worth defending? No!

Lots of people use drugs, and some of those end up dealing drugs, or committing various crimes. Their lives are totally derailed, and that lucky ones find their way back. Figure skaters and other athletes may be less vulnerable to going down that dark path (I would think they are), but they are certainly not entirely invulnerable.

Likewise, figure skaters and other athletes can be prone to depression, and depression can lead to drug abuse.

Given the scandals surrounding celebrities of late (like Cosby), I won't depend on media coverage and image to decide who is good, bad, genuinely repenting for past wrongs or not. Some guys media painted as good guys could turn out to be bigger crooks than all the bad girls in skating. For all we know, Bobek could still be blaming other people in her life for her past wrongs and we just don't know it.

Yes I do think Bobek caught a break with the meth thing and people were eager to forgive her. But she isn't dealing meth now and Tonya isn't helping other people hurt people. Aside from that who knows what is going on with their lives other than what media want to paint?

I will just add this; I often wonder what Tonya's life would have been like the last 24 years if she would have just owned up honestly to what she did or didn't know or do, and not change her story every time a camera got turned on. I think the chances of her being cut a break would have been much higher.

Tonia would of never been honest about her criminal evil acts no matter what or whom got turned on! She has never deserved a brake of any sort, NBC is basically saying to her "Your sins do not matter come on TV and have fun dancing and getting fans!

NBC is trying to pretend to act like they are Jesus. NBC is looking more like Satin, so is Tonya and it is so bad I allmost forget that Adam "alternative life-style" is on the same show. There has not been an hour of T.V. so evil since Who Wants To Mary a Millionaire.

I would say more and in fact I would write at least 322 post's about a program I refuse to watch but my wife and I are going to Wall Mart to purchase prayer candle's to use during the show airing tomorrow. We may also buy beef and or turkey jurkey depending on it's costs.
