German Skating News - Part 3

German Ice Dance drama: Muller/Dieck is not listed anymore! Koch/Nuchtern are skating instead. L/P and U/S are still listed.
Wondering why M/D pulled out. On the one hand it makes sence to not skate the week before nationals against L/P but on the other side they could score again towards the euros/worlds race. Good for L/P. Kick butt and get those points!!

ah, cleve bastards they are :P
makes totally sense not having the travel stress and concentrate on nationals for m/d.

though i really dislike the factor, that they might book their ticket due to nrw and nationas all alone. besides their good senior-b's, their challenger results were quite underwhelming.

but, it's within the rules, who can blame them?

I also think it would be fine to wait another week and to show just two lighter programs at nationals.
I fear though that they might think they need the GPF price money to pay off the Bruno debt. But without being able to show their best in Marseille it will be difficult for them to medal anyhow.

Perhaps they do need the money and its not just about reputation and results going into the later season??

Another question for the experts/archive heroes: Does any of you have the wording of the "Nominierungsliste" from last year or even the year before? (The links on the DEU official site do not work anymore). The reason I ask: I was assuming this is the first season only 2 scores (including, if the skaters wish, nationals) count towards euros qualifying and that it was 3 before. So I sent a press request and was told that it has always been just 2 that count...

last 2 seasons only 2 scores counted, see post #777 and #225

the 2 scores counting do work for me in the ladies, as they often competed against eacht other directly.

with the men, i don't know what to say. same for dance. bit strange here.

do you know if we will have a livestream again?
german fed is not to good in responding to request via mail.

Thank you for the info, the links are not active though as they are leading to the DEU site as well.

Anyhow, at least some skaters do believe and have believed in the past that it is 3 scores that count, glad that it did not result in a bad surprise for any of them so far.

I still find it weird that it basically means you can just take the 2 results from the most overscored competitions of them all being NRW trophys and nationals. And they are both, for a reason, events that do not count towards ISU rankings or personal bests.

NRW does count towards the rankings as a simple senior-b, or?

But I admit, am not happy with that decision too, although it's clever to get lots of german skaters for the audience. I personally would prefer Nebelhorntrophy for that, though I think they cannot enter that many national entries into a challenger.

All of the senior internationals on the ISU list of internationals count towards WS points if:
  • There are the minimum number of skaters competing (or listed as WD in the final standings) from the minimum number of members needed per discipline. (Ex: Five Pairs from three members, minimum. This covers Rule 107 definition of an international competition, or at least two members, one foreign, invited, which is the minimum needed to earn championship TES minimums.) At this time, the minimums (skaters/members) are the same for Challenger Series and all other senior internationals, although points awarded are higher for CS.
  • The minimum number of judges (five, Rule 520) and technical panel with the right credentials are officiating
  • The Controller and Tech Specialists can't be from the same member (Rule 520)
  • No member can have a majority of judges on the panel (Rule 520)
Also, there can't be certain geographic limitations. I think that's why Nordics only are restricted for the younger categories.

Streubel is removed from the nrw-trophy-entries. this literally takes him out of the euros race.
(in theory he still has a chance, but that chance is around 3%)

Any updates on him? He competed at volvo cup, that's not that far gone.

The first half of the season may not tell anything about worlds. Most of the major players (S/M, S/H, S/K) are out from the GP/GPF...
On the other hand it's a good chance for the up and coming teams (S/B, T/M) and the shuffled chinese teams to enter the podium conversation.

Ladies showdown pt.1 at nrw

SP:
1. Schott 57,60pts
4. Weinzierl 51,18pts
8. Bock 46,89pts

Schott seems fritghteningly secure this season :D

Tim Dieck mentioned during commentating NRW that Anton Kempf (now switched to Wende/Wende) does pairs since august too, and will finish his singles career this season.

do we have updates about his (potential) partner?
@Eislauffan maybe? ;)

Hoping this means she is moving past that tough welcome-to-adolescence stage and adjusting. I really think this hit her very hard last season and that she needed time.
schott was just injured during off-season heading into the last season and at the beginning of the season; this did not help either. but either way, good she is on the right and healthy track now! :respec:

can we hope for a bavarian open outing?

Outing at Bavarian Open is planned, said Kempf in talk during ice resurfacing at Men's FS at NRW Trophy.

For next two weeks he will forcus on his outings as a single skater (Golden Spin, Nationals). After that: Focus will shift to Pairs and working on FS with his partner.
