German Skating News - Part 3

FS comeback of peter liebers, 4th overall (but behind fentz who came in 2nd)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Da-zrpTOjY

it's been a long time and it's good to see him back.
unfortunately, it's like the male version of weinzierl; nothing natural, all seems very staged and studied.

if he does not earn his euro spot by himself at nationals, i totally see german fed sending fentz to ostrava and having a skate-off later the season for worlds.

Ladies is the only discipline with no skaters left at Zagreb, all other discipline races might change after Zagreb once more.

For the top 3 ladies (because all the others won't stand a chance) these are the dates heading into nationals:

Schott goes to Euros, if...
- Weinzierl does not achieve an overall score of 176,52pts or higher
- Bock does not achieve an overall score of 180,44pts or higher
- she keeps the overall score distance to Weinzierl less than 10,59pts
- she keeps the overall score distance to Bock less than 14,51pts

Weinzierl goes to Euros, if...
- she scores 176,52pts or higher and keeps a distance of 10,59pts in the overall score to Schott
- Bock does not achieve an overall score of 159,91pts or higher
- she keeps the overall score distance to Bock less than 3,91pts

Bock goes to Euros, if...
- she scores 180,44pts or higher and keeps a distance of 14,51pts in the overall score to Schott
- she scores 159,91pts or higher and keeps a distance of 3,92pts in the overall score to Weinzierl

One of these 4 scenarios happening for Schott, she is in. With the scores not having inflated that much at the last nationals, Schott seems pretty much ensured.

2nd spot is Weinzierls to lose, but it's pretty close, and you should never underestimate the power of pink.
Drama awaits.

bock has been having one good and one bad competition this season. nrw was the bad after the previous pretty good one so Nationals should be good again if she sticks to the current trend

Bock seems so 'worrisome' this season.
I don't get it at all. Why does no one intervene?

A more simple layout might help for the moment but I have a feeling there should be a more drastic change. New coach?

Striegler seemed to work for her at the ending of the last season, but this Steuer/Striegler-mix just does not work at all.

Bock seems so 'worrisome' this season.

Wouldn't you too if you had to skate to The Artist in that dress every day for the past 2+ years!?

Question regarding Worlds: If Schott and Weinzierl make the Euros team; does whoever place higher at Euros get the Worlds spot, or do they still use cumulative scoring?

no, euros placement will determine the worlds spot.

and i can totally see schott winning warsaw, dortmund and nationals and then failing at euros :p
weinzierl managed to keep herself in the running the last 2yrs, you gotta admit it :respec: you cannot bring her down :p

though there is still the option of 'fed bye/intervention' but i fear they would not dare to mess with miss3lz3t :P

German dance drama at its best in Zagreb

60,12 Lorenz/Polizoakis
57,08 Koch/Nüchtern
54,94 Urban/Steffan

l/p won't give up without a fight. good folks they are!
where the hell did k/n score came from? did babs finally threaten to hit them? :biggrinbo
good they finally get some decent senior scoring. it's been a while since they were promising juniors. years passed bye.

u/s are just ****ing :smokin: that is all that matters :P
i have a feeling müller/dieck might bite their arses somewhere that they pulled out :EVILLE:

#germaneurosrace :hat1:

As Mari/Ruben did not show up in Zagreb, the standings in the pairs euros race are set before nationals:

Pairs

418,48 Aliona Savchenko / Bruno Massot (GP FRA 210,59; GP RUS 207,89)
344,58 Mari Vartmann / Ruben Blommaert (GP CHN 173,88; GP JAP 170,70)
278,65 Minerva Fabienne Hase / Nolan Seegert (CS POL 141,62; NRW-Trophy 137,03)

not that it would matter, with 3 pairs and 3 spots :D

Seems, like the plan of Müller/Dieck did not work out.
Great outing by all 3 german dance teams in Zagreb.

L/P could not even close the gap to M/D top score, they could top it and will go with a big confident boost into nationals.
They are in 1 point (assuming nationals score will count), but they have proven three times on challenger events that they get these scores, whereas M/D only scored high at senor-b's.
You have to be no crystal ball for whom german fed might root.
M/D could have shown in Zagreb how much they have improved and that they do not fear the head-to-head.
tactics did not pay out.

Ice Dance
301,66 Kavita Lorenz / Joti Polizoakis (CS CRO 155,34; CS SVK 146,32)
280,26 Katharina Müller / Tim Dieck (NRW-Trophy 154,38; CS GER 125,88)
262,84 Shari Koch / Christian Nüchtern (CS CRO 144,74; CS SVK 118,10)
139,72 Jennifer Urban / Benjamin Steffan (CS CRO 139,72)

I am just so happy L/P did so well. Seems like the internat. judges like them and if the federation is correct they should realise that they have the best chances to earn a olympic spot with only this team... great work Kavita & Joti. What a good fighting spirit they have.

I am happy k/j scored well, but I feel both performances were rather dull :blocjudge
They lost momentum due to the summer drama and above all: practice time.

But they scored great at challenger, while M/D did not and decided not to show up later.
So I am on team l/p, though they have to admit, that it got that close is their own fault, and no one others!

So, now after Kempf has finished Zagreb, these are the final standings in the euros race for the men heading into nationals

Men

398,97 Paul Fentz (NRW-Trophy 199,77; CS GER 199,20)
307,36 Anton Kempf (CS CRO 157,79; NRW-Trophy 149,57)
195,50 Peter Liebers (NRW-Trophy 195,50)
174,37 Franz Streubel (CS GER 174,37)
122,78 Dave Kötting (NRW-Trophy 122,78)

it's between fentz and liebers obviously. hard to say who will make it.
fentz has great jumps this season but is still kinda trainwreck mental.
liebers even harder to tell.
all can happen.

So at least it's spot-on for nationals this year. Only pairs is boring, drama in dance, ladies and men to come. hell yeah!

Sophia JONES / Ian STEPHAN just debuted in Budapest.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6ASRgLdxP4
They were decent to watch and scored 42,65pts in the sd with 3 deductions.

unfortunately their blades catched into each other in the sbs steps and both did fall. but i enjoyed it. they had a voidy touch i appreciate :p

5 german dance teams, hell yeah!

So, here the scenarios for the relevant men and dance teams heading into nationals:

Fentz goes to Euros if...
- ...in either of the following scenarios Liebers gets no wildcard
- ...he wins the the title
- ...Liebers won't score at least 203,47pts
- ...the gap between Liebers and him is not higher than 4,27pts

Liebers goes to Euros if...
- ...he gets a wildcard
- ...he scores at least 203,48pts and keeps a distance of 4,27pts to Fentz

Streubel goes to Euros if...
- ... he gets a decent haircut

---

Lorenz/Polizoakis go to Euros if...

- ...they will win the title.
- ...Müller/Dieck won't score at least 147,28pts
- ...the gap between Müller/Dieck and them is not higher than 0,96pts

Müller/Dieck go to Euros if...
- ...they score at least 147,29pts and keep a distance of 0,96pts to Lorenz/Polizoakis

Still no news about a livestream for nationals?
competition starts in 4 days :drama:

If you got it once, you become greedy :2faced:

My heart is with Liebers, but I just watched Fentz (for the first time this season! How did I miss him?), and can see why people would be pushing for him. He's quite good, he's younger, and with less injuries weighing him down.

I'm concerned for Liebers not making it out of Nationals, but if Fentz can skate well at worlds and get two spots for Germany at the Olympics so at least Liebers can make it back there, then more power to Fentz this year I guess.

Also, Streubel needs more than a haircut to help his skating. :slinkaway

but if Fentz can skate well at worlds and get two spots for Germany at the Olympics
In which world? :D

I think we should be pleased if the man who is send to worlds is able to secure ONE olympic spot. That is not a given...:violin:

annette dytrt made it into the final of tv show germany got talent.
she did a roller skate routine with yannich bonheur.
final is scheduled for saturday.

Nicole Schott OUT of German nationals due a injury. She fell hardly on her Tuesday practise and can't compete this weekend. My heart aches for her. If I'd be the German federation I would give her a free pass for Euros if she can get ready for it but nobody knows what kind of injury she has... she did say in her Facebook that she will prepare for the 2nd half of the season.

I dont think she needs the wild card ;) She will get her ticket in any case. She will have Warsaw Cup and NRW Trophy counting now and I cant see Bock and Weinzierl getting both more than 333.62 points. Bock needs 180.43 and Weinzierl 176.51 and honestly I dont see them getting near those scores at Nationals either.

:wuzrobbed

seriously, this season sucks for me. :drama:
schott was in such great form and now this mid-season injury. this is really depressing for her.

she most likely needs no bye for euros, as she scores really high, and Bock/Weinzierl need to score around 180pts to surpass her in the rankings.

So I guess, less worry here, but really a shame as the title would have been hers to take in her current form.

Get welll really soon Nicole!

Always, #teamschott :gallopin1

Preview article of german nationals:
http://www.sport.de/news/ne2545789/savchenko-massot-bei-dm-ausser-konkurrenz/

S/M will skate in both, sp and fs, without jumps/throws. so they are not official part of the competition.
Official word is: they skate to gain practice to skate in front of an audience before euros.
(i guess it's obvious the fed wants them to be there :P)

Side note: it was mentioned by dönsdorf (head of german fed), that the fed invited (refering to dance, noc lue about the other disciplines) an international judging panel. i really like that. the last few years it was only the an international technical panel. i like this.

Lutricia Bock injured her knee and ahs to withdraw too :(
https://de-de.facebook.com/lutriciabock/

what a shitty season for her.
means no euros.
schott and weinzierl safe for euros.
Guess this is not the way @sus2850 wanted Weinzierl to get her ticket

so much anticipated drama, so boring in the end :(

now watch dastich winning :scream:
