From USFS' Fan Zone Jan. 1st article - these 4 teams shared their New Year's resolutions for 2023:

Emily Bratti and Ian Somerville
Emily: My New Year's resolution is to cook more of my meals.
Ian: My New Year's resolution is to wake up earlier so I have more time to eat a substantial breakfast!

Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko
Christina: My New Year's resolution is to procrastinate less. I always wait until the last minute to do my schoolwork. Procrastinating less would make my life less stressful.
Anthony: My New Year's resolution is to cut the average time I use my phone daily by half. This will allow me to be more present and less dependent on my device.

Lorraine McNamara and Anton Spiridonov
[Our resolutions are to] go to bed earlier, drink less coffee, learn Italian (Lorraine) and explore new ways to volunteer/serve our community.

Eva Pate and Logan Bye
Logan's New Year's Resolution is to work-out on a more consistent basis to gain strength for both off-ice and on-ice training. Additionally, Eva wants to stay more active off the ice throughout the year. In their free time, Eva wants to read more of her book collection and Logan wants to spend more time learning another language, or picking back up with the French he learned from college. It's also Logan's resolution to take Eva out on more date nights at their favorite restaurants and spots around town.

Cross-posting here and in the U.S. Nationals entries thread in the Kiss & Cry section:

Good news for Cara Murphy and Josh Levitt as announced by his club today: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm6iTs6Lx68/
They have been notified that they will compete at Nationals (after having missed qualifying for the final spot, taken by Leah Krauskopf/YuanShi Jin, at the U.S. Ice Dance Final in November 2022 by less than 0.3 point!).

ETA: I assume they were invited to replace Cesanek/Yehorov and fill out the 15-team field.

The US is sending the following teams to the Bavarian Open at the end of the month:

-Neset/Markelov in junior
-Sylvia Li/Rowan Le Coq in advanced novice (1st at the dance final, 1st in their international debut at Budapest Trophy)
-Julia Epps/Blake Gilman in advanced novice (they were 8th at in junior at the dance final, so I assume they're not age-eligible for junior internationally or else there was an error in what division they were placed in)

Full entries: https://bev-eissport.de/v2/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/EntriesBO2023-2.pdf

I believe Julia is too young for ISU Junior this season so Adv. Novice is correct. Thanks for posting the link :) - have just created a competition thread in the Kiss & Cry section.

I expect Olivia Ilin/Dylan Cain will get their first opportunity to compete internationally in Adv. Novice at Egna Dance Trophy in Italy, Feb. 9-12, 2023 (entries are due by Jan. 11).

ETA:

Livvy Shilling has teamed up with Belgium's Léo Baeten - they are listed in the 2023 Bavarian Open Senior Ice Dance event (I've posted 3 clips in the Dance Hall thread): https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...a-samba-2022-2023.109753/page-45#post-6361493

Ryan O'Donnell, Shilling's partner last season, is touring with Disney on Ice in the U.S. now.

12 Junior teams are listed in the 3 practice groups for 2023 Nationals - no longer listed are Anna Sophia O'Brien/Steven Wei (12th at the Final). Turns out O'Brien/Wei, coached by Kristin Fraser-Lukanin & Igor Lukanin, are listed to make their international debut for AZE at the Bavarian Open (just noticed this after I copied out the Junior teams in the 2023 Bavarian Open competition thread in Kiss & Cry) - here was the original list of 13 Junior teams for Nationals that was published on Nov. 21:
Junior Ice Dance
  • Anabelle Larson and Jonathan Young (U.S. Ice Dance Final)
  • Anna Sophia O'Brien and Steven Wei (U.S. Ice Dance Final)
  • Elliana Peal and Ethan Peal (bye)
  • Emma L'Esperance and Mika Amdour (U.S. Ice Dance Final)
  • Helena Carhart and Volodymyr Horovyi (bye)
  • Jenna Hauer and Benjamin Starr (bye)
  • Julia Epps and Blake Gilman (U.S. Ice Dance Final)
  • Juliette Shadid and Lucas Shadid (U.S. Ice Dance Final)
  • Kristina Bland and Matthew Sperry (bye)
  • Leah Neset and Artem Markelov (bye)
  • Michela Melillo and Sam Chen (U.S. Ice Dance Final)
  • Olivia Ilin and Dylan Cain (U.S. Ice Dance Final)
  • Vanessa Pham and Jonathan Rogers (bye)

Azerbaijan really does just give out opportunities to represent their nation to anyone, don't they?

Following up, I found Epps/Gilman's birthdays here: https://www.ice-dance.com/site/profile-julia-epps-blake-gilman/ so they'll be ISU junior age eligible next season.

Ilin/Cain competed at the Bavarian Open last year, placing 4th in advanced novice, but it would be great if they get another international this season! They'll also be old enough for juniors internationally next season

Ah yes, I remember now - they went with the Peals (placed 7th in Junior). Thank you! :)

The scores @Sylvia linked are from the ISU TES mins pages for Senior and Junior. Murphy/Leavitt have never competed internationally for the US, so they wouldn't be on that list, however Cesanek/Yehorov are because they have. ;)

Hawayek and Baker have withdrawn from Nationals!

“After much consideration, we have decided to withdraw from the 2023 Toyota U.S. Championship

Over the past 18 months, our team has dealt with significant physical injuries that have led to challenges in our mental health & we feel it is in our best interest to prioritize this currently."(2/3) #USChamps23

We are grateful to have the collective support of our whole team behind this decision and cannot thank them enough. We will use this time to come back stronger with the intention to petition for a spot on the 2023 World Team.” (3/3) #USChamps23

Noooooooooo I wanted to see them make gains against Chock/Bates. Yes I truly believe the could at least get their scores closer. But health does come first. I hope they come back strong for worlds!

Not that Green/Parsons and Carreira/Ponomarenko are lacking in motivation before these championships, but with a silver medal on the line now, maybe there will be an extra fire lit under them. Like I said, G/P and C/P are both already hungry and this won't ultimately hurt Hawayek/Baker's rankings domestically, as H/B have earned an opportunity to miss a competition, IMO, but every little opportunity to place higher than expected can't help but add just a little more motivation.

In addition, I think we need to face the realistic chance that H/B will not be ready for the world team. 1st Alternate status will be very important.

I’m sad I won’t get to see them at Nationals. I like both of their programs. As others have said, glad they are being transparent about their situation.

I’m sure with their petition to the world team there will be monitoring, so the young uns will need to be ready if needed.

Question: can another dance team now come to Nationals or is it too late?

Thanks, I should have made a separate post about Murphy & Levitt being added to the Senior roster. I knew they hadn't done any international events. I just hadn't seen their addition posted. I'm happy for them since they missed the Final cutoff by such a small margin.

The publicly linked Practice Groups document has not been updated since December 7, 2022. We only know about Murphy/Levitt because their club posted the news on Jan. 2nd:

The original USFS FanZone list of Nats qualifiers has been updated with the addition of Murphy/Levitt -- as well as the dance withdrawals.

(Off topic for this thread, but Junior Pairs has had three withdrawals: not only Smith/Deng, but also two other pairs.)

... Question: can another dance team now come to Nationals or is it too late?

I don't believe any other Senior teams have the required minimum scores for Nationals? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

ETA from November 22, 2022:

Ohhhh ... Klara Kowar/Thomas Schwappach are missing the FS minimum for Nats by only 0.26.
And they do have the SP minimum.

They are coached by Ben Agosto and Katherine Hill.
I wonder whether there is any chance at all that USFS would let Kowar/Schwappach compete at Nats?

(I know that the pairs discipline in the U.S. has needed to rebuild this season, but USFS gave special dispensation to certain pairs to include them in 2023 Nats ... so it would be great if Kowar/Schwappach could be added in dance.)
