They might keep the FD. Or chuck it & bring it back for the Olympic season.
I would like to see Chock/Bates bring back their last season's FD for 2020-21, because that romantic program did not get used for an entire season. Their spectacular 'snake-themed' FD would be wonderful to bring back for the Olympic season, IMHO.
However, C/B and their coaching team may well come up with another unique and engaging winner of an FD for this coming season. M-F Dubreuil & Patch definitely seem inspired by C/B's personalities, skills, and dynamic as a couple on and off the ice.
I feel so bad for C/B. Ugh, they were gonna get back on the world podium after everything they’d been through!
Maddie & Evan are tough survivors and resilient champions. They have weathered a great deal over the years. They are surely taking this disappointment re Worlds cancellation, in stride. As are most of the athletes, apparently. Also, let's not forget that C/B are GPF silver medalists, they regained their U.S. national championship, and they repeated as 4CCs champions, in addition to winning GP medals. All-in-all it has been a productive, utterly
charming, and exciting season for them!
OTOH,
a lucky break maybe for Hubbell & Donohue because they can ditch their crap programs from this season and hopefully come up with something great that suits them next year.
True.
Probably both C/B and H/D are pausing a moment to reflect and to take stock of their emotions altogether. All of these athletes have lives and family relationships off-the-ice that can be affecting them as well at this time. Although training and competition is their major focus, they don't live life in a vacuum. Being a champion athlete involves maintaining a delicate balancing act.
Ultimately, both teams will likely be feeling upbeat and positive about what went well for them this season, albeit that more went well for one team than the other.

Being a competitive figure skating athlete is always a grind, and it's probably important to take things as they come, enjoy and celebrate the good moments for what they are, and not allow the downside moments to overwhelm. In the end, every athlete/ partnership team must release what happened yesterday, take what they've learned, and get back in the saddle to apply those lessons.
