There's no reason to worry, everything looked fine a couple of weeks ago in practice and I heard from other sources non related to Gadbois already a week ago that they weren't planning the team event, so it sounds like it's all part of a plan.

Maia has her hair in a braid again. I wonder if she's going to keep it that way for competition.

yes, the white one is pretty and she looks like a doll but I think it's the least Latin dress of the competition. It looks like she should be skating to the soundtrack of the Barbie movie.

I've watched Latin ballroom competitions where some dancers wore dresses that don't look at all like stereotypical Latin dresses. Virtually every dress I've seen deemed "not Latin enough" by a skating fan this season, I've seen a similar dress on a Latin ballroom dancer. I think the definition of Latin in the ballroom world has evolved and modernized and the skating world is still catching up.

Okay, well then I don't think it suits the program at all.

Less than half an hour for the Team Event Short Dance.

Here are the judges :

OLOZAGARRE Marta (ESP)
ZHANG Tianyi (CHN)
ROGERS Sharon (USA)
CARON Leanna (CAN)
MAKAROVA Anastassiya (UKR)
OZKAN SILAOGLU Tanay (TUR)
TAKINO Kaoru (JPN)
ZAYDMAN Albert (ISR)
CUCHRAN Vladimir (SVK)

Sharon Rogers had better not pull any of the nonsense judging she tried at last year's 4CCs. And I still don't think federation presidents should judge. A problem for another time.

Fingers crossed for a clean competition.

Are these the same judges who will judge the individual event?
No, since it's not the even same countries. For example, no FRA judge will be judging the Team event, but one might be picked for the individual. (according to the draw)

Well the caller was really strict, did any if the teams actually get a sb? Virtue/Moir were the obvious highlights, but Muramoto/Reed and Wang/Liu skated pretty well too.
Maybe it was not a bad choice for P/C to skip the event..

1 Virtue/Moir 80.51
2 Shibutani/Shibutani 75.46
3 Bobrova/Soloviev 74.76 4
4 Cappellini/Lanotte 72.51 5
5 Muramoto/Reed 62.15
6 Lauriault/Le Gac 57.94
7 Wang/Liu 56.98
8 Lorenz/Polizoakis 56.88
9 Min/Gamelin 51.97
10 Tankova/Zilberberg 44.61

The Tech Panel compared to the GP series is incredibely tough with everyone - a bit like Dostatni. No major mistakes, but absolutely everyone got much lower than their PB.

Yeah, except the Shibs got a great score under Dostatni this season. At least the Shibs TES went up under review. Not as high as they'd like but they can use what they learned here for the individual.

So what are we going to do before the ladies event?

The panel was really, really tough. B/S`s base value was 1.5 higher than the Shibs, but their GOE was 1.8 lower than the Americans. It`s going to be tough for the Russians to win Bronze in the individual event.

Wow, C/L lost a point because of a fall that did not happen. The end of their lift where she's in a split ? Counted as a fall... And now they have to think about that 7 days before the SD. Yepee.
