Charlie White and Jackie Wong both tweeted about a Super Bowl tackle looking a lot like one of V/M's lifts.

I feel like I’ve seen this in figure skating before

When football players try to imitate @tessavirtue / @ScottMoir’s lifts. #SBLII #SuperBowl #figureskating #Olympics

Okay, but where’s his back flip entry into the lift? Ice dance still rules every time :D

BTW, Baz Lurhmann posted V/M’s Moulin Rouge FD on his FB page and tweeted their FD. That’s a huge compliment. I thought the comments would be full of skating ubers, but most seem to be by fans of the movie. It’s bringing attention to ice dance, which is wonderful. Lurhmann also directed Strictly Ballroom. How fitting!

They have the momentum, I do not know why they would risk losing it in the team event.

Because if they don't skate, they run the risk of giving their opponents confidence and losing momentum anyway if V/M are really great. If they do skate, at least it's on their own blades. That's how I see it. Plus it would be good experience- I don't think one short dance would exhaust them.

Apparently they are implementing changes in their programs and are not ready yet..
I don't know what to think about this!

They did not say they weren't ready though  More like : "Giving the small chances that France has to win a Team medal" :D
I'm surprised because I thought the interview for ISU said that they were going to do the TE. But yeah, it's not like it's going to change anything for France, however it might change something for Russia vs Canada vs USA (espcially since big names like Sui/Han and Boyang Jin aren't doing it either). I need to reevaluate my predictions !

I meant that they are still working on those changes and want to perfect them before the individual event, thus the withdraw on the team event...
But yeah it has no great incidence on the French team result, it's more strategically speaking that this choice is "intriguing"... :)

They seriously need to put that team event AFTER the individual though. :wall: Make it a real competition :EVILLE:

They say on golden skate that apparently P/C aren't in Korea yet, prefering to advantage of their training environment in Montreal until the last minute to work on their 'surprising' changes. So they won't be at the opening ceremony either...

The plot thickens.

Are we sure about that though ?
(Let's continue this conversation into the P/C thread if you want, not to hijack this one)

With the news about the norovirus, it is a very wise choice.

I just mentioned that I expect to see changes in PC's programs in another thread. What I'd absolutely love is an extension of the presto section in the FD, so that we have a chance to see a more full interpretation of that section. Right now so much of it is crammed into the spin, and that's where the program loses me.

Thanks Anyasnake, I read the articles, just speculating. Teams will never admit to injury as it could appear to weaken them in the judges eyes.
It seems that the last few snippets of info fluctuated as to their participation, and now we have a new reason, I’m no insider but I don’t think they just started working on the “surprises”
Hope all teams are able to perform to their physical potential.

The goldenskate thread suggests that they've been working on the surprises for a while now, but need more time to perfect them.
