The Dance Hall 13: When You Dance on the Ice and Your Feet Twizzle Twice, That's Amore

This is a Minister of Justice website article. Charlène and Marco are at all effects police agents and considered "State athletes", as they belong to "Le Fiamme Azzurre", the sport group of the Italian Penitentiary Police, which is a department of the Minister of Justice and which pays them a salary.

I'm quite sure they couldn't reveal there that they are going to retire, as that would make it quite official and they haven't made an official announcement yet.

I think you can all rest assured they will not deprive the younger generation of the competitive experience.
So if they officially retire the salary is gone? Your body can hold up only so long. Can’t they make money touring?

I think they just want to make sure they get paid through the off season, so they're delaying the announcement a bit.
I thin they are allowed some time to think about the future without fooling their employer, the government, and they must have some vacation time they earned anyway. I'm sure those concerned are informed on their status.

So with one official top five team withdrawing, ZingKol have a shot at fifth place if FearGib are clean.

Re GuigFab staying in - if they are staying in due to addition of required partial Golden Waltz - well, maybe it will get them a world bronze for next season, but there’s the whole rest of the RD, and the FD, to get thru and they are entering their late thirties…I don’t see any supposed benefit of knowing that one compulsory dance beyond even one season.

I’m annoyed at ISU for not requiring one whole pattern of the Golden Waltz. This half-a&&ed approach is confusing

Oh, weird. I've tried it several times and I keep getting "not available." Must be a glitch at my end.

Or possibly even better than fifth?
Chock/Bates and Guignard/Fabbri are not competing at Worlds.

For Worlds competitors:
Season's Best order is: (1) Fournier-Beaudry/Cizeron; (2) Gilles/Poirier; (3) Fear/Gibson; (4) Zingas/Kolesnik; (5) Lopareva/Brissaud.
World Standings order is: (1) Fear/Gibson; (2) Gilles/Poirier; (3) Lopareva/Brissaud; (4) Zingas/Kolesnik; (5) Reed/Ambrulevicius.

p.s. I am excited for Green/Parsons!

Oh! They did? I swear to God I just read the other day that they planned on going.
Maybe what you're thinking of is the interview they gave where they said they're skipping Worlds in order to take the time they need to get ready for next season?

Guignard/Fabbri staying in is insane and kind of sad. Their skills (particularly his) are quickly degrading.

If they do actually compete next year, mark my words, they will be dumped worse than Moniotte/Lavanchy (4th in 1997 to 11th in 1998).

Looking forward to Pidgaina/Koval’s Senior debut next season!

With ZingKol now de facto US #1 (at least at this one event), it’s not completely impossible they could beat FearGib for third. IMHO of course 😜
LOL. I suppose this is possible if FearGib have a third major competition in a row with a massive error in the FS.

Frankly, I think US ice dance fans should brace themselves for another 2015-18 type of cycle with ZingKol, CarPon and GreenP potentially trading US #1 status through the entire Olympic quad depending on the material they have every season. And whomever winds up as US #1 in 2029-30 will be lucky to win an Olympic bronze at best.

This is the kind of post one lives to regret.

If Z/K are in the top 5-6 at Worlds and the other two teams finish at least a few points behind them, I doubt CarPon or GrePar will catch up. They’ve both been around a long time, the judges know them and without some surprising technical leap forward, they might be stuck where they are.

As for material, the Browns had the best FD of the season and still finished behind Bra/Som at Nats. Grrrrr.

And a year ago, no one expected CarPon to drop behind ZingKol the way they have this season. And four years ago, no one expected GreenP to wind up behind both of those teams by now. It really is dependent on good material for all of these teams.

I know the ZingKol ubers are riding high right now - as high as us CarPon ubers were a year ago and as high as the GreenP ubers were 3-4 years ago. Enjoy it now but nothing about any of these three teams makes me think ZingKol are secure in their position at the top of the heap.
