The Dance Hall 13: When You Dance on the Ice and Your Feet Twizzle Twice, That's Amore

12 March 2026: Deadline for submission of nominations for ISU positions to be elected at 2026 Congress, including chair and membership of technical committees

Any rumors on if someone is challenging Rettstatt?
Selby and Wolter are age-limited. So there should be at least 2 new members in the IDTC.

I like getting the third French team back and am happy for the Israelis, young Chinese and Fun Finns. But I assume we are still looking at 6 teams not making the FD? Or 11?

I really can't understand why C/B are going to Worlds.
They are three-time World Champions and the reigning World Champ.
Why would they want to end their career with a Silver medal (IF that) at Worlds?

I understand SA may pressure them, but what the hell, can't they decline?
I refuse to think it's for the prize money.

I dunno. Maybe they've never been to Prague and want a nice trip before they start the SOI tours.

But without c/b the other american teams will move up one spot automatically so it is a trade off

I'm hoping the top 3 teams are still weighing their options as most have only recently arrived home, are still on olympic high... and that we'll see a few withdrawals as the weeks wear on.

(Because I'm shocked at this list, wtf)

I hope this is not like 2022 world where no top dance team withdrew (but teams did move up because of the Russian ban)

In 2018 three teams withdrew so I guess three teams are on the high side in terms of numbers

Still a much better shot if C/B compete, obviously. (Keeping in mind that the Brits will probably finish ahead of Z/K, a direct transferal of the rest of the Olympic results would be a very near thing). And, of course, the latter mightn't happen. You'd be counting on the GPF results not repeating, for example.

Anyway, as said above, we often get a slow attrition following an Olympics so hard to know who will stay on the list.

Piper liked someones comment on one of her TikTok's thanking her for going to Worlds so I'm assuming that means Gilles & Poirier are at least currently planning on being in Prague.

She was on a podcast that released today (taped after she got back to Canada this week), where she did confirm that she and Paul were planning to go to Worlds (and that they were returning to the rink 'tomorrow' [I think yesterday] to train for that), then do the Stars on Ice tour. No word on whether or not they plan to retire after (she was asked, she said she didn't know).

Now whether or not that changes between now and Worlds, I have no idea, but as of this week, this is their intention.

(Other tidbit is that RuPaul did comment on one their social media posts, "you better skate" which is something I hadn't seen elsewhere).

I would think because Canada only just released their list and DS/D were not on it that those entered actually plan on going at this stage. But I can see for other Feds that announced their lists pre-Olympics that there will be withdrawals.
