Oy. My takes:
Singles: I didn't have to love their music, but it was really nice to see invested, musical skating by Glenn and Cain. Liu skated through her music, both sections, and I thought she looked sluggish, only finding the pulse in the Biellmann. It was a good choice for Ma to skate to Flamenco with the strong beat, Naumov was charming, and I really liked Malinin's program and even understood almost all of the lyrics, which almost never happens, so that confirmed to me that Levito's music is as awful as it sounded, and it wasn't the sound system. Brown looks like he's in great shape, and if he's going to skate to Tarzan, I'm glad it's in this SP form.
Efimova and Mitrofanov had lots of energy, and the mistakes didn't faze them. I'm sorry that Bratti was injured; Sommerville did well in a solo performance. Pate skates like she's in a Disney show, regardless of the music; Bye does not, and in the best way.
I'm glad local skaters got a chance to perform in front of the audience. It not only brings local families, club members, and friends to the rink, it gives them a chance to perform and be part of a show with the skaters they look up to.
