Sounds like an Ari Zakarian production. I would expect the fire guy from the show in April and some other Ari novelty acts. Interesting that Ilia is not mentioned but I would expect him to perform? It's a Friday night so I don't think I'll go. Maybe if Ilia is there.

It is not summer anymore but the cast for the 52nd An Evening with Champions show have been finally announced - Bradie, Lucas, Will and Patrick, among others.

Host
Paul Wylie

Women
Bradie Tennell
Caitlyn Kukulowicz
Sharita Taylor
Shaye Taylor
Sophie Joline Von Felten

Men
Lucas Broussard
Matthew Markell
Will Annis
Patrick Blackwell

PAIRS & GROUPS
Luke Witkowski & Sofia Jarmoc
Phebe Bekker & James Hernandez
The Haydenettes
Was this show any good? Seems like a less stellar cast than usual. I was very discouraged by the VERY late cast announcement As it turned out I could not have gone any way even if I had bought tickets.

I was surprised at the rather empty seats in this otherwise beautiful film of Patrick Blackwell:

This place used to be packed when it was filmed for PBS in the 1970s and 80s.

I would say that EWC tended to be packed well into the 90's and sometimes even into the 00's. Back then the show was well-publicized and that it far from true today.

Findlay Silver Blades annual ice show is April 4th at 7, Apr 5 at 7 , and Sunday April 6 at 2 pm (the one I will be attending). Guest skaters are Starr Andrews and Pate/Bye. The Gliding Stars ice show (special olympics program) is March 30 (sun) at 2:30 and I will be unable to attend this year since it directly conflicts with my college alma mater's musical Bingo. I will still buy some raffle tickets since you don't have to be present to win. I might also attend Chance to Dance on Saturday Apr 5 at 7 (the local ballet school's show that usually includes the Findlay High School show choir FFE, sometimes St Michaels (the catholic school) drama club, and/or the marathon center (our venue for shows and concerts) youth theatre kids.

FYI - if it hasn't been mentioned elsewhere - I was wondering why I hadn't heard anything about Ice Chips at the SC of Boston this year. Turns out SCOB decided (last fall, perhaps?) not to produce a 2025 edition of the show because it'd be too much to handle on top of the club's hosting of Worlds:

Ice Chips

Club management and the Board of Directors have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2025 production of Ice Chips due to the conflict with the Club’s presentation of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships® 2025. The Club does not have the personnel to produce both events in the same quarter, and it would be folly for the Club to try and sell tickets to both events simultaneously and expect a good turn-out for Ice Chips. While the production of Ice Chips is an important annual tradition for the Club, and an incredibly fun and rewarding experience for our members, it is also the Club’s one annual fundraiser. The show is not inexpensive to produce, and there is too much financial risk for the Club to compete against itself in selling both events at the same time. Because the World Championships is rarely in the United States and not likely to return to Boston again for several decades, it will always win if
there is a choice between it and another skating event. And for the Club, it will likely generate the same profit from producing the World Championships this next year that it would take more than 15 years of producing Ice Chips.

We fully recognize the disappointment many members will feel as a result of this change, and management is actively working on a schedule of activities throughout the coming year that will offer Club members other options to perform for the public and be recognized for their competitive performance over the course of the season. We plan for the year to end with a fresh take on the Club’s Awards inner that will likely include rink-side dining and multiple skating performances. Stay tuned for more information as these plans develop further and are communicated to the membership.

Ilia Malinin was just announced as the special guest performer for ITNY's Spring Gala. Scott Hamilton will be honored with a lifetime achievement award at the post show dinner on May 5th.

Ilia was also the guest performer last season, so he must like performing in NYC! I hope he does "To Build a Home" and not "Hope" again.

Also, I may be going to the Open Road in Newark, DE the previous Saturday and take the bus from NY. Is anyone else attending the matinee on Saturday. the 3rd at 3:30?

I haven't seen this posted here but I found out some interesting intel in case you are interested in attending any of the dates for the Ice Dreams "tour."

Tara Modlin Maurizi has produced the Ice Dreams tour for the past few years, featuring skaters like Gracie Gold and Nancy Kerrigan. Apparently the tour was announced in March with the following dates, featuring the following cast: Jason Brown, Gracie Gold, Rohene Ward, Ashley Cain and Ellie Kam/Danny 'O Shea (with a caveat that skaters vary by location)

March 14-16, 2025 - Workshop Only

Cornerstone Community Center
1640 Fernando Dr
Ashwaubenon, WI 54115

April 4-5, 2025 - Workshop Only

Glenview Community Park District
1851 Landwehr Rd
Glenview, IL 60026

April 25-27, 2025 - Show - No other skaters from the list above are on the website except Gracie.

McFetridge Sports Center
3843 N California Ave
Chicago, IL 60618

May 2-3, 2025 - Show I confirmed this with the GM of the PIC that this is not happening at their venue. It also conflicts with the Open Road show posted up thread.

Patriot Ice Center
101 John Campbell Rd
Newark, DE 19711

July 18-19, 2025 - Show and Workshop - this cast includes Andrew Torgashev. Jason is not listed.

Veteran Memorial Community Center
8055 Barbara Ave
Inver Grove Heights, MN 55077

July 21-22, 2025 - Workshop

Centre Ice Arena
1600 Chartwell Dr suite a
Traverse City, MI 49696

September 13-14, 2025 - Show

South Davis Recreation Center
550 N 200 W
Bountiful, UT 84010

There are no ticket links for the venues except Chicago and Inver Grove Heights, a suburb of St. Paul, MN. I find a few things "sus" about this whole thing.
  • Tara hasn't promoted this tour on any of her social media channels (including the Ice Dreams and Fireworks IG accounts).
  • I don't see Jason appearing at any of these locations, either when I checked out the local websites. I know he is touring with SOI in Japan and the US thru May.
  • Listing a venue like PIC when the GM herself said in an email to me when I inquired that listing their venue was "out of date" information.
  • Promoting Danny and Ellie as appearing on the tour when Danny is recovering from foot surgery. Perhaps by the July date, he might be ready to skate but who knows?
  • Andrew Torgashev is appearing at the St Paul date, but he is not listed anywhere on their website as a participant. You can only find this info on the ticket purchase link. Fans of the Pizza King should not have to dig to find this info, lol.
Just seems a bit half-assed, IMO. I have no beef with Tara, by all means she seems like a lovely woman but this is not a Tour and she needs to update her website as to not cause any further confusion. I usually don't care about off season ice shows that much, but I am planning to go to the Delaware show on May 3rd and a friend sent me the Ice Dreams link and saw that they were planning to have a show the same date. I thought 2 ice shows on the same date was probably too good to be true but I wanted to ensure that I had all the facts before making travel plans and potentially needing a hotel room.

Sorry for the long rant, but I wanted to save any other fan the hassle of figuring this all out!
