Per, @YukiNieve request, I'm copying my post from the old thread.

I attended the Open Road show in Newark DE at the Patriot Ice Center this past Saturday.

The show was worth the travel from NYC via Amtrak to see World Champion Alysa Liu, who did a show version of her Donna Summer FS, Four CC bronze medalist Jimmy Ma and the amazing solo ice dancer David Shapiro. I also got to see Senior US Pairs team Sydney Cooke and Matthew Kennedy, who were junior bronze medalists last season and moved up to seniors and came in 10th at Nationals. I also enjoyed Jacob Fitzpatrick’s skate to Journey’s Faithfully, who skates for Disney On Ice.

There were skaters of all levels at this event, given it was a club show, including adult skaters and little kids just learning to skate. The Open Road theme included songs like “Life is a Highway”, “Everyday is a winding road” and “Car Wash.” As you can see in my videos, Jordan Cowan was there filming so you will be able to watch his videos without a hockey net in the way, lol. He filmed everyone at the two hour show and took the group photo at the end.

I’m glad I got to see this, as going to SOI is not feasible for me this year and the GA tickets were around $20, which was a good bang for the buck!

Also, I was lucky to attend the ITNY Gala last evening and took video of Ilia. He performed Cage of Bones, the same EX he did at WTT.

@apgold also posted some videos of the performance from this show (hope that you don't mind listing them here since I am so delighted to see David's skate ).

One of the reasons I took the trip was to see David skate. I had seen OIP's videos of him from previous shows in the Delaware area and I just had to see him in person. Of course I wanted to see Alysa in all her WC glory, but I had seen her a few weeks prior at Worlds.

I hope ITNY invites David to skate at one of their shows in the future. I'd love to see him do a duet with ITNY's Liz Yoshiko Schmidt, she in some ways is the female version of him in terms of flexibility and gorgeous positions.

Looking at his IGS, his effort for rehab and recovery seems amazing.
