Thank you for sharing @UMBS Go Blue - glad you got to attend!

Looking forward to reading your report from the front row, @alizadavida! :) You too, @kirkbiggestfan!

Ice Chips post with video links are in Nathan's fan thread here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/threads/nathan-chen-fan-thread-2.105575/page-65#post-6421552

I'm always happy to read a fan's positive first experience at a club show: https://twitter.com/Julie_AT1/status/1644902736150908928
... Although I’ve attended live comps and shows for some time, this was my first club show. While I did travel here to see Nathan, I enjoyed all the skating very much.
There were a number of elite skaters performing including Chan and Howe, Gabby Izzo, Max Naumov, Jimmy Ma and Will Annis. But there is something beautiful about watching skaters of all ages, abilities and body types skating for love of the sport.
Speaking of love of the sport, Nathan sported the biggest, most genuine smile during all of his performances. If that man doesn’t love to skate with every cell in his body, I don’t know who does.
Just imagine how inspiring it must have been for the club skaters, especially the very young boys, that he was there. He did not act like “the star” but just a regular cast member. Of course he isn’t just a regular cast member.
A few more thoughts: Very entertaining selections. The group numbers were a lot of fun while giving some of the club skaters time in the spotlight. The show was well paced- three hours passed very quickly. I met some great twitter friends. An outstanding weekend all around.

I have family members in the club and it’s really impressive how many kids signed up for skating, especially young boys. The club with new infrastructures is thriving and preparing the future. Most skaters are not in the competitive elite section but it’s amazing to see that many skaters sharing the rink with Nathan. They were telling me that his agent has a no-selfie rule so they had to be ok with group pictures 😊

The production of the show is very professional and they make beginner skaters look like mini stars.

Nathan is a class act and has improved his presentation. I wish he had put a little more work into his show programs. Same shirt in 2 colors, same program construction. He can obviously do a 3F in his sleep or include a backflip within a step sequence. The previous generation of champs like Boitano or Hamilton came up with elaborate show programs. He could even have a fun cheesy program once in a while. Jimmy Ma is one call away. 😜

I really enjoyed how they incorporated all of the skaters from their basic skills program to their elite competitors, with stepouts for soloists in most numbers. They had groups, solos, theatre, dance, pairs, synchro, and precision so a wide variety. I knew a bunch of them so was good to watch them skate - the skating was pretty dulled down though - I know some of them could've done harder jumps/spins than what they did last night. I really enjoyed Jimmy's gym routine. Nathan did two routines, but I expected a little more from him. Didn't get any videos b/c of a pole in my way, but got to high five the cast after. Lights and sound were good. Most of the seats were full - just some of the back rows remaining.

Brought back my moonlight sonata short program yesterday to surprise @rudyvalgalindo at his tribute show in SF!🤍

It’s definitley my favorite program choreographed by Rudy — the balletic transitions just feel so beautiful on ice. It was so fun pulling this out of my old box! And getting to wear this 2016 dress again? Loved it🤭
SCSF's Junior Council posted a highlights video (nice to see Kate Wang back on the ice after injury this season - she did a clockwise rotating 3T in a bodysuit): https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cq0yoV_AXkA/

ETA that Christina Carreira posted a clip of her and Anthony's "Wednesday" EX on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@christina.carreira/video/7220619961151065386

I understand the desire, but Boitano and Hamilton were full-time professional skaters while Nathan has been a full-time student at a prestigious university since September. Given the strains on his time, I just appreciate that he continues to skate in shows at all.

^^^ These are the tweets by the filmer of the 4K videos of Nathan at Ice Chips:

Thanks for sharing this link, @YukiNieve! :)
David Shapiro skated to Moonlight Sonata at SCW Galaxy on Ice, where Johnny Weir did his final US performance. My friend shared her video with me. David's flexibility and gorgeous line have not changed!😍

David will skate at Kana and Daisuke's show, Ice Explosion, in Japan during 5/12-5/14.
This same YT account also has fan cams of Johnny Weir's performances to "Clair de Lune" and "Creep" from the March 31 and April 1 Wilmington. DE shows.

Oh, I did not know that there are official videos; I deleted private ones.
You misunderstood me - the fact that the SC of Boston re-tweeted the fan cam videos (links that you posted in post #37) indicates to me that the club is okay with them... I think!

You should re-post the links that originally were in your post #36, Yuki! :)

Detroit Skating Club's 2023 Ice Show, Skating Across the States, April 28-30 in Bloomfield Hills, MI - Eva Pate tweeted on 4/24 "Come see us perform #Riverdance at the Detroit Skating Club's Ice Show! We are performing Friday 4/28 & Saturday 4/29 at the evening shows only."
Tickets: https://events.eventgroove.com/event/23rd-Annual-Dsc-Ice-Show-73273

This article about St. Clair Shores (Michigan) FSC's annual ice show includes quotes from Emilea Zingas (longtime club member who started there in singles) and says she will perform with Vadym Kolesnik in the Friday & Saturday evening shows:
“It’s a little bittersweet,” Zingas said. “I love going back to Shores. It was a home for me for so many years. I still represent the St. Clair Shores Figure Skating Club, which is something I’m really proud of, but it’s different for me this past year not being there every day and not seeing my coaches I’ve had for the last 12 years every day. Going back there is so great being able to see everyone, but it does make me a little sad that I kind of had to leave that part of my life behind, but I’m really excited to skate in the show and see some old faces and some new faces.”
The Friday show will start at 7:30 p.m. while Saturday will hold two shows, at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The weekend will conclude with a 2 p.m. showing on Sunday.
Tickets are $10 for children and seniors, while adults are $15. Tickets can be purchased in advance or on the day of the show at the Civic Arena.
For any interested young skaters looking at potentially being a part of the club, Zingas had high praise for her relationship and time with the club, its skaters and coaches.
“Shores is a big reason why I’m the person and the skater I am today,” Zingas said. “It just means a lot to me.”

He will have a meet and greet, so hopefully we will hear about his summer plans and new programs! :giggle:

Jordan Cowan filmed David Shapiro's "Mercy" by Max Richter at the Patriot Ice Center’s 2nd annual ice show in Newark, DE - "Choreographed by David’s long time choreographer Irina Romanova and himself": https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cr_KeHpvwIN/
David’s words on the piece:
“From my understanding the piece was written as a metaphor of our worlds socio-political spheres: a world lacking in “mercy” but more specifically tolerance, acceptance, and equality. In the album, the piece is supposed to be a balance point between what the world is right now and a potentially better future. Personally I feel like the program is more focused on what the world right now has been lacking for centuries—human equity—and less on hope.”
Link to watch on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkufRFZbPQ0
(CC: @YukiNieve :)) David will next travel to Fukuoka, Japan to skate in Daisuke Takahashi's second "Ice Explosion" show.

From Jordan's IG post: "Filmed on May 6th, 2023 at Patriot Ice Center in Newark, Delaware. Look out for the full showcase, featuring guest skaters Polina Edmunds, Ting Cui, Emmanuel Savary and more, coming to YouTube soon!"
