"Legacy on Ice" benefit show in D.C. (March 2, 2025) and ways to help those affected by the air tragedy over the Potomac River

We arrived early and Cesanek/Yehorov did a full program to music before the event got started. And There was a group on the ice when we came in. Seemed more official than just a warm up so we weren’t sure if the event had started early, but it was just a bit of “pre-game” I guess.

There were three skates before the live broadcast started. One was the pair you mentioned another was skaters from a club where one of the skaters died and the third was (I think) it was Ashley Caine - I could be wrong on that.

We didn’t see Ashley until the number with Ye Bin and Gracie. The group was on ice when we came in, then the ice dancers, maybe Ashley was first?

Yes, there were definitely 3 skates before the broadcast, so I guess that was first.

Ashley was first up with Footprints in the Sand, then DC Edge synchro with You Say, followed by Cesanek & Yehorov with Come into My Arms.

When Peacock turned on, it was clear the event had started. It was a bit weird.

What time did this start? My mom and I got in the arena at around 2:30 but didn't get to our seats until 2:40 or so. Whatever happened early was already over.

The pre-show started at 2:30. I only figured it out because I overheard someone say that Molly & Yehor were in the pre-show, and then I saw skaters gathering near the entrance at 2:24. I also overheard someone guessing that it was due to timing restrictions on Peacock, and they realized they had too many minutes of programming.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering why we didn't see Molly/Yehor in the show (I know they were in the Imagine number but I didn't realize that until I watched the replay on Peacock). Grrr, Peacock with their timing restrictions.

I am pretty sure I saw USFS X(tweet)ing about the pre-show earlier that day (March 2), but I cannot find that anymore. Maybe it was a last minute decision.

BTW how was the security at the door about the things to bring in?

My bag was “too big” (probably 5x10”) but they just searched it, didn’t make me put it in a locker.

An amazing honor for Sasha Kirsanov:

"Blue Hen Classic" has been an annual intercollegiate competition hosted by University of Delaware, where Sasha was a team coach for nine years. This year's event held a tribute to Sasha this past weekend.

The loving remarks/anecdotes about Sasha as a coach and as a person already were making me emotional ... and then I was completely blown away when one of the speakers announced that the name of the event will be changed to "Sasha Kirsanov Memorial Classic."
