Royalty Thread #16: the best of times, the worst of times

The evening dresses worn by both Catherine and Mrs. Macron have short sleeves but then the sort of cape from the shoulder that drapes over the arms and can be pulled forward to cover them or pushed back to expose the lower arm and hand (I think). I know this is not entirely new and others have worn dresses with this same cape effect. I think it looks good but I would probably end up dragging it through the soup.

The hair is way too long. I feel like she's trying to say she's a trad-wife with that hair.

My hair is not as long as Catherine's but it is past my shoulders. I'm 72. I think my entire family would fall down laughing if anyone said I was a trad-wife. Gorgeous hair is to be displayed.

I understand why tabloids milk non-stories for years but I find it annoying when news sources that I don't consider tabloids use Will-Kate-Harry-Meghan drama from 5 years ago to beef up their content. I really don't believe that H&M live constantly in W&K's minds anymore than the reverse is true. It appears both couples are just living their lives without regard to the other couple. I don't consider Anne changing her hairstyle earth-shaking news either.

As someone sitting in a humid hot fog ATM, will trade you for thick curly hair that is a mass of frizz.

Nope. My dils both have longer hair, as do many of their friends (40+). Definitely not Mormon, Fundies, Amish, Mennonite

My hair is really long, mostly because I just like it that way. I cut my own hair (trimming the bangs and trimming the length) so I save $$$ on hair stylists. What's annoying is that I live in the world's worst place for long hair. It is almost always windy here, which means I have to tie back my hair and wear a cap/hat, neither of which I like to do at all. But if I don't, my hair ends up looking like a rat's nest in just a few minutes in the wind.

My hair was really really long because I'm lazy as hell with my hair. And we have one local beautician who gives everyone the same haircut. I got so frustrated with my hair with this heat and humidity, so I told my middle child to cut it off. Now it's just as ugly, but much shorter. In December I'll be back at square 1. I'm no trad wife. I'm just lazy.

Yeah, it's really not a trad-wife thing to have long hair. Younger niece has mostly had longer hair since she was a tween. She's neither Mormon nor terribly conservative.

Also, I don't think anyone would mistake a single member of the Kardashian/Jenner clan as being Mormon or conservative and they all gravitate toward the same blow-out styling as Kate. Same with the Hilton sisters and I could keep on with numerous other Hollywood types who have similar hairstyles.

Since I'm house-bound, I had to miss a haircut when I was trying to grow my hair out so it was already pretty bad. It's atrocious now.

I work for a manufacturing company. The woman that looks after the tool crib has hair past her waist. She's a tattooed former welder who lost part of a finger in a work place injury, lives with her divorced boyfriend who works at a cannabis store, smokes pot and plays video games. Not a trad wife, fundie, Mormon, Amish or Mennonite.

I've always disliked cape dresses bc I find it adds a squareness and boxiness to the shoulder area.

It must be a challenge to get the temperature right when you have men attired in suits with jackets and ties and then women with light evening dresses and often bare arms. I guess I am assuming those old castles and wonderful historic buildings are a special test in having everyone somewhat comfortable. Kate has lovely well muscled arms (not sure about currently) but I can say that sadly as an older woman I much prefer to have my arms covered. Now when the men wear kilts, I wonder if they adjust the thermostat up?

These are moments when I think to myself that they should just let them live in peace. I know they're public figures, the former two maybe more so than the latter two. However, they're also human-beings. And Will and Harry have gone through a lot. So, maybe whoever does the report should remember that they're not objects and that it's probably hard enough on them without having it used to beef up content.

Natasha "Tash" Archer, who has been a close confidant to Princess Catherine for 15 years, and also her stylist, is leaving the royal employment to run her own business. i believe she is responsible for the blue polka dot, yellow, and red Jenny Pacham dresses she wore following the birth of her three children, as well as helping establish her style moving away from her days as a university student. Predictions are that we will see Catherine in more items like the Dior suit she wore for the Macrons.

I agree with all of you and I especially appreciate that she looks like a 10 year old, a confident happy girl, but not a teenager yet - even with her pretty painted nails. No need to grow up too fast.
