Royalty Thread #16: the best of times, the worst of times

I read that Louis is now the most google searched of the Wales kids. I don't know what would be earth shattering to find out about a 7 yr old kid or for that matter about any of the kids as they haven't done anything note worthy yet. To each his own.

???
Louis is a cute kid. Not sure why your panties are in a bunch over something so innocuous.

Not sure why you think my panties are in a bunch. I just don't google search for any strangers (except Michelle back in the day), especially children who haven't done anything interesting yet except being born. I expressed that I was surprised that others found it interesting. As I said, to each his own. Does that expression mean "my panties are in a bunch"?

Harry’s off on one!

Oh, this promises to be VERY dramatic.

In more pleasant royal news, Princess Ines made a balcony appearance, not that you can actually see her. And when did Princess Estelle become so grown up?

Charlotte went full-on tomboy for her birthday photo:

I miss the pretty dresses and ruffly socks and the whole girly-girl thing, because that's my sort of thing, but she's a cute kid. :)
The most Windsor of the Wales kids!

Charlotte was the one who asked David Attenborough if he liked spiders, so clearly she was never 100% classic girly girl ;)

Kate when she's not "working" actually usually wears Doc Martens, jeans, hoodies, etc. Looks like Charlotte copied her mom's off-duty style.

Louis trolls George. George responds with a death stare.

Meghan showed her cork board with family photos amassed over the last 7 yrs. One photo showed her exposing her bare pregnant belly. Maybe that will finally shut up the positive haters who have said that Archie & Lili aren't hers, that she's never been pregnant. Or maybe it won't - I'm sure some ignorant haters will come up with another theory. Note: I know she's been caught in silly lies at times but I never believed this one. Archie looked exactly like her when he was born.

is there a photo? Where was she appearing?

Really alarmed by Kate's appearance today. She looks positively skeletal.
She looks the same to me. Since finishing her cancer treatment & starting to attend things in person she has looked very slim but I wouldn't say skeletal. For example her face is not gaunt & her legs don't look like sticks. I remember when my mother went thru a health crisis she looked like the walking dead.

Catherine has always been tiny.

I've cared for anorexic patients, I do not see anything concerning in the photos.

Really unless you are a healthcare provider seeing her a state of undress a photograph doesn't tell you anything.

I was thrilled to have my King read the Speech from the Throne. I know it is mostly the words of the elected government. In his own words, King Charles's recognized Canada as a sovereign nation with a rich history as well as strong ties to Great Britain and a valued member of the commonwealth. I know not all Canadians feel as I do but it was also wonderful to see him receive such a warm welcome. I watch "Palace Confidential", a show I feel that really has their finger on the royal pulse, and I know my favourite panelist, Rebecca English, accompanied the King and Queen to Canada - as she does on most of their trips. There was considerable concern about the King making such a long, fast trip to Canada and then dash back for cancer treatments. He also shook many hands and had to be pried away to get on the plane. He may have a shorter reign but I believe he is doing all he possibly can with what he gets. Those who travel with the King give a lot of credit to the Queen and speak very highly of her.

I also watch Palance Confidential. Rebecca English is very good. I think the commentators on that show work well together.

Watching Palace Confidential today, I thought i would share a touching personal comment shared about King Charles. The discussion was about members of the royal family and the planting of trees. British royalty have always planted trees to commemorate special events and they are especially dear to the heart of King Charles who has always been a very devoted environmentalist. While in Canada, he planted a tree at Rideau Hall and it was noticed that he has a little gesture that he made to the tree. He apparently does the same with each tree he plants - and Rebecca knew what it was. He shakes a branch of the small tree - as if shaking its hand - and says "Good Luck little tree".

Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands fell off her horse and had surgery.

I have been pleasantly surprised by his reign so far (except for his blind eye re Camilla). He was such a mess when he was younger that I didn't expect him to be so thoughtful & balanced.

I just read that Harry and Meghan requested passports for their kids’ and the last name in the passport is Sussex. I thought the last name on your passport had to be the same last name that is on your birth certificate which, in their case, is Mountbatten-Windsor?

I think it has to do with H&M wanting the passports for the kids to have HRH titles and if you look at the Line of Succession the kids are listed as Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex. In contrast Sophie and Edwards daughter is listed in the LoS as The Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor. So I guess if H&M also chose not to give their kids HRH titles then the Mountbatten-Windsor would have been used?

The news reports that H&M want the children to have the option of being senior working royals whereas Sophie and Edward have raised their kids to not expect to be senior working royals and would have to find their own careers.
