New Amazing Race! Hopefully with stubborn animals!

I thought it was brilliant of the bikers to take extra supplies along so they could fix the cake en route, if necessary.
Yeah, and to dismantle the cake on purpose so it would be easier to carry and balance. They really deserved 1st place, and not just because they had a head start on everyone else. They raced very well.

Agreed - they stayed calm, were creative, and thought ahead

Very impressed with the bikers this round. I was so relieved when they found their receipt- they had been racing so well for the round, I would have hated to see it all become derailed.

And those blinding white teeth are creepy, but not nearly as creepy as He-Dentist's cold, dead eyes, especially when She-Dentist was all on about how great it was to know that 'he has my back'. Um......I'm not so sure about that.

:yikes:

yeah, the teeth are scary, but it is his eyes that really make me shudder.

This is the lamest speed bump ever. It wasn't difficult, wasn't interesting, and was boring to watch.

I never really paid attention before tonight until reading it in this thread but ...... Scary Dentist Eyes!!! How did I not see that before!

The Speed Bumps seem to be nothing exciting but just a time consuming task. I guess its the point of getting some kind of penalty for coming in last on a NEL leg, and much better than taking their money and making them beg for more (especially in poor countries), but couldn't they be a little more exciting?

Didn't Lady Dentist still do the Tea Task incorrectly? She had her free hand at her side, not behind her back, so why did they still get the next clue?

Bethany is amazing! How did she handle that bike with all that weight on it and keep it balanced and upright! I woulda been falling over every few feet. I haven't been on a bike since 1983, I wonder if I could even still ride one.

More animals next week!!

Love the cyclists and the surfers - esp. Bethany! Liked mom and daughter at first but now they have become so annoying. Yay - more animals next week!

I just watched this week's episode (ironically at 8 tonight!). I agree about the mom/daughter being ultra annoying and loving Bethany!! She's amazing!! The dentists have an odd relationship. I think his OTT intensity must be tough to handle, she was weirdly unhelpful and passive in the set up the food cart challenge. But then he seems to want to take over everything, so it must be confusing. Ugh.

I found myself yelling at my tv for mom and daughter to U-Turn the Dentists, just so that maybe they would come in last and have to give up that stupid Safe pass. (I'm so tired of hearing about that thing.)

This is the lamest speed bump ever. It wasn't difficult, wasn't interesting, and was boring to watch.

It was a dumb task, but then they usually are. Didn't someone have to sit on a block of ice for certain period of time on a past season? And on another didn't someone have to sit in a sauna?

I think one of the contestants drove over a homeless dog's leg..... First there was a dog walking on all four, then few contestants with bikes went by..... and few shots later the dog was limping pulling front paw up....

Animals are always on my mind in this show... I love this show, but hate the fact that they use animals in challenges. Not all contestants are gentle....

Dentists - Jim - his eyes are scary and his facial features - steroids?? I do not like them personally even though they have game, they can stick around for entertainment, but do not win, preferably out by final 4. Shan - on Misti being passive in challenge - she might be smart, get out of his way and let him do it as he is all knowing/capable.
Mom&Daughter - just do not like them and their dynamic. Please be out next week.
Bethany rocks- her doing so well is putting a target on them - will they be roadblocked?? Bethany and her husband - such a nice loving couple - would love it if they won - they are nice and hardworking and not complainers.
Female cyclists - liking them more and more.

Bethany Hamilton is a champion surfer. Here's her Wikipedia page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bethany_Hamilton

She survived a shark attack in 2003 when her arm was bitten off. Since was 13 years old at the time. Since then she has won surfing competitions against women with two arms. A movie of her story was made called Soul Surfer which starred AnnaSophia Robb, Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, Kevin Sorbo and Carrie Underwood. In the movie they show her preparing breakfast for her family with one hand shortly after getting out of the hospital. She basically failed at that task, but it showed her determination to get back to as normal a life as possible and not let having just one arm keep her from doing what she needed to in life.

I imagine she has been riding bicycles since childhood and re-learning how to ride one with just one arm was much easier than re-learning how to become a champion surfer. :respec:

Just watched this week's ep (since I was at Skate America :D ) I always love when they go to Africa. Marrakesh seemed like such a happy place with very nice locals. The little bit we saw of them reminded me of the Egyptians when I was over in Egypt. Arguably some of the nicest people I've ever met.

Adam & Bethany are my favorites right now -- at the beginning I thought that she was a stunt casting choice and he was her prize-winning boyfriend, but they have seriously proven to be competitive. And they don't argue. And they THINK before they do. AND they don't complain. About anything.

Kym & Alli are right up there for me too. They're more on the entertaining side of my favorites list, I think it's Kym (the one with the deeper voice) is hilarious and has one of the funniest senses of humor. I hope these two teams are in the finals.

She-dentist really isn't one for the details, is she?

Shelley & Nici.. I'm so conflicted on them because they were my favorites the first couple of episodes. Obviously not the last couple. But part of me wants them to be in it for the long haul to see if they overcome the tension between them.

Every time Brooke & Robbie say something dumb ("Morroccas!") it kind of makes me like them a bit more for some odd reason. :P

Not sad about Keith & Whitney being Philiminated. We got to see a bit of their personalities on TAR (since they were so invisible on Survivor) and they weren't exactly full of sunshine and daisies.

OMG ... that Roadblock was !!!!!!!!! How did they go across that bridge so quickly!!! Or was it editing that made it seem like they just flew across? I know they are on a safety line but still ....... I would have froze up once I got to the part with no planks to walk on. That was an actual tourist attraction, right? What do they do if someone really does freeze up while they are out there, or actually slips off the friggin' thing?!

Goats!! :cheer2:

I just realized that I like all the remaining Teams .... except for the Evil Dentists. As long as anyone but them wins, I will be happy. :p

With only 6 Teams left, likely 2 more NEL's (one is usually during Top 3-4, right?), I don't see a way that Evil Dentists won't be in the Finals since they have that stupid Save. :(

Lady Evil Dentist has already done 3 Roadblocks, so Sir Evil Dentist has to do the remaining ones because there are only six Roadblocks, right? I wonder which of the remaining Roadblocks will cause Sir Evil Dentist's head to explode. That should be fun.

^^ Did you watch the preview for the second half of the season? Because there's another similar steel rope course that they do, and someone (didn't see who) slips off. What happens is that you just hang in the air by your safety harness...I imagine you would wiggle yourself around until you could grab the top cable with your hands and hoist yourself back up. It would be scary and not easy at all, but you definitely wouldn't be in danger of dying.

Loved Brooke's verbal freakout on the bridge...she was definitely complaining loudly, BUT she kept moving. I bet verbalizing all of her thoughts was actually distracting her and kept her from actually panicking. Props to figuring out a way to get across even though she was clearly not a fan.

Bethany and Adam are the winners of this season regardless of where they place at the end. She is fearless and he lets her be. I usually start rolling my eyes at the lovey dovey couples, but these two are a testament that sometimes the right people totally end up together. They are :rockstar:

The whiners are pitiful when a girl with one arm manages that bridge roadblock with grace and determination.

I enjoyed this leg, although I found myself cheering against the dentists. The only saving grace for them in my eyes is that they are good racers. But I hope that they don't win. Does their save expire?

I also love Bethany/Adam! I'm so impressed with her determination and their relationship. They are so sweet together. My only worry for them is that sometimes they are almost too laid back, and need to be a bit more intense.

Mom and daughter leaving didn't make me sad at all. I wonder how long they drove around before stopping to ask. If you're both saying you don't know that to do, I'm not sure continuing on the same way is helpful. I kept thinking they should stop and figure things out.

The rest of the season looks great! :)

I have no experience with those bridges, but I have done quite a bit of zip lining (I so want to do that zip line!) and if you don't make it across, someone has to come out on the line to get you. I would guess it's the same with the ropes courses--you either have to pull yourself up (which many people can't do) or someone has to come out and get you back up.

Eys, I do that when I am stresssed--blah blah blah. It annoys the heck out of everyone, but it helps me focus.

The beginning of the episode was so slow to get going with so many teams lost 2 steps off the starting mat, but once they got to the tasks and things got going the episode really picked up.

I'm glad that when Kym & Alli weighed their options with the detour, they were smart enough to ask how long the task would roughly take, and then switch back when they realized the other task wasn't going to go any faster. Sure they lost a bit of time and probably should have stuck with the goat task from the beginning, but in the end they were ultimately thinking about what would get them done the quickest. Small squabbles in the middle, but they seemed to get over that really quickly. Kym's improv chant/songs were hilarious  "I forgot my sunscreen!"

Not only are Bethany and Adam incredible, but I just love how much they seem to be enjoying everything about the race. Some of the teams past and present get into such a tizzy that they are taking the fun out of the tasks and locations for themselves.

I have to give She Dentist props for handling the roadblock so well. If I'm remembering right, He Dentist even complimented her in a non-sexist way along the lines of "she's smart and strong." They're still my least favorite, but he didn't come across as badly as he has in prior episodes.

Loved this episode. Animals, challenging roadblock and teams pretty much kicking butt. I really don't dislike any of the remaining teams except the dentists and even they were relatively inoffensive this episode. I would so love to do that zipline and I would have been swearing all the way across that bridge just to distract myself. :)

I think one thing that really turns people off on the Dentists is their appearance...he's pretty freaky looking and she has that bleached pageant queen look. But, if you shut your eyes and just listen to what they're saying, they're not all that bad anymore. I think the vibe they give off is super intense and crazy, but they actually seem to be quite level headed and good racers.

I would have no problem with them being one of the top 3, along with the two biker girls. I just want Adam and Bethany to win. I like all the remaining teams. The wrestlers aren't the smartest tools in the shed, but they try hard and I sort of wish they had the save.
I was cracking up at the chicken on the guy's head at the matt. There've been so many animals, I wonder if they'll be part of the final puzzle.

The opera one was actually very easy, though, even if you don't know opera. I was laughing at everyone fighting to paint, as that looked hideous to me.

I really like the biker girls, but I have to say that I liked He Dentist for the very first time when he cut the one off in the go-cart and then let loose with a cackle of evilleness worthy of a diva ice dancer And I really enjoyed watching the She Wrestler racing up that hill--it's good to see someone having fun on TAR. I LOL when she spun out at the finish. You go, girl!

One of the few occasions I am happy with a NEL night!! :cheer2:

But why the two week wait! Competition shows like TAR and Survivor should never do two week breaks.

Is there a round where the Save expires? Like they must use it by 5 Teams left or something? I hope they can't use that to "Save" their way into the Top 3.
