Watched Always Be My Maybe. Cute Romcom. Absolutely loved all the Asian food observations (spam and rice, the brusque staff at “real” Chinese restaurants, scissors dammit!).

Enjoyed Good Omens. I agree that it was a letdown whenever Tennant and Sheen weren’t on screen (although the Nuns were hilarious) but they were just so great that it was worth sitting through the boring parts.

My favorite scene was the four of them playing drinking games in Keanu's hotel room. I nearly peed my pants laughing.

I'm not Asian-American, so I don't claim to know, but this movie felt very Asian-AMerican and it's great to see that kind of representation.
 
I’m looking forward to watching Always Be My Maybe as well.

After having it in my list for awhile, I finally just watched Dumpin’. It’s a pretty good coming-of-age movie! :)

I had a different opinion on Always Be My Maybe. Hubby and I did not care for it and the only scenes we thought were watchable were the ones with Keanu. Maybe we're not in the age demographic to appreciate this, but we thought the acting by the principals was really bad, especially Ali Wong, and didn't feel any warmth coming from the characters. It was like watching a really bad stand-up comedy routine. Vivian Wang and James Saito were much more tolerable.
 
I watched Designated Survivor season 3. It's better than the last episodes of season 2. All in all it's more consistent, more political. I hope they're not going all West-Wing-y, if there was a season 4. I always liked the first season, something between politics and 24 and family drama.

I binge-watched the first season some years ago. This weekend I started with the 2nd one, and wished, I'd have more time, so I could binge watch again.
I heard the 3rd it binge-worthy, tooI:40beers:
Imo it's not much about science fiction, more about ethics and personal relationships. (I'm not particularly fond of sci fi)
 
I just started "Pose", I was a bit sceptical, because the episodes are so long and I prefer series where the episodes are about 30 to 45 minutes long, but I'm really liking it. It's more serious than I expected and really moving.
 
I watched the second season of Black Spot on Netflix - I think I'm the only person I know who is into that show! The acting (especially the lead actress, who is really too good for it) is a lot better than the writing, but I like it anyway. I thought the first season worked better in terms of its overall story - with the second one, it feels sort of like they didn't have anything planned and are just flying by the seat of their pants - but it's so atmospheric and I like listening to French and trying to work (largely unsuccessfully) on my comprehension, so it was a good way to spend 8 hours this weekend!

I was FANATICALLY into Dark Season One and so I am interested in Season Two, which is coming in a week, but I have a feeling it is going to be an epic train-wreck, much like Season Two of The Returned. This is another one where I have a feeling there wasn't a solid plan for what to do after Season One.

I liked season 1, but I'm also wondering how the whole "future" setup will work in season 2. But I'll certainly give it a try.

I liked the movie, so I would be interested in watching the show. But...I have a big distaste for Roy Choi ever since I saw him do an appearance on Top Chef and thought he was a downright nasty person.
 
I've been binge watching the second season of Absentia on Amazon Prime. It seems to be a love it or hate it series because I haven't found too many in between. But Stana Katic (from Castle) has a lot of drama and range in this show which I think she plays well. There are a lot of twists and turns to keep up with but overall I've been enjoying it as a suspense/drama.
 
A Silent Voice on Netflix. It is an animated movie both dubbed and subtitled in English. Shoko is a deaf 6th grader merciless tormented by her classmates. The ringleader is a boy named Shoya. Later as a teen Shoya decides to befriend Shoko to make amends. It is a beautiful story and shows the growth from their 6th grade selves to their 18 year old selves. Very moving, you really can see how being deaf in a place that is intolerant - well you learn to have more empathy.

I watched the first episode last night, it was better than I expected. I don't think it will be as good as season 1, but it seemed more workable than I was thinking it might be, at least so far.
 
Wow, was I wrong. Dark Season 2 is really good and not a trainwreck at all. I don't know if it matches the first season, just because for me I think I often love the getting to know the characters/world/mythology part the best, but it complicates it in interesting ways and I had to stop watching Episode 6 midway through last night because I felt so affected by what I think is about to happen. I do hope that they stop with Season 2 though, I find it hard to think that there could be anywhere left to go for a Season 3 after this, I'd love for it to just have a satisfying finale and leave it there. But I was wrong in my fears about Season 2 in the first place so who knows!

There will be third season, which will be the last. I read it on TvLine
 
Please watch A Silent Voice on Netflix. It’s an animated film based on a manga of the same name about a high school senior looking to make amends for bullying a deaf girl in grade school. Not to give too much away but he drove her out of school and resulted in the just-as-guilty class turning on him leading him to suffer from being a social outcast with social anxiety and his own dark thoughts of self-harm. It deals with some deep themes and it has so incredibly beautiful animation and scenes between the two main characters.
 
Just for closure, Dark finished out Season 2 strong although I do think it is relying on
the bootstrap paradox and intervention from future versions of the characters in accordance with the idea that things have to happen as they always happened a little too much - I would rather that there was intervention in a few key moments and that there were a small amount of meaningful bootstrap paradoxes than for it to be so pervasive throughout the plot
the thing between the spoiler bars too much. I'm looking forward to Season 3 but also glad that they have an endpoint so they won't drag things out too much.

I'm now watching The City & The City on prime. I loved the book, although it had such an interesting premise that I don't think Mieville was able to come up with an ending that lived up to the premise, but it was still really worthwhile. I'm surprised by how little I remember of what happened - the plot and scenario was so complicated that I really don't remember anything more than the fact that I liked it and that issue with the ending. It's a very literary concept and I don't think the show is going to be as good as the book because trying to show it visually means being a little un-subtle in places, but I do like the show so far and it's only 4 episodes, so it's not a huge investment in time.
 
I just finished the second season of Good Girls. I think I love Christina Hendricks. I’m not sure the story can really support a third season but it’s been a fun ride so far. Though I just realized that her husband on the show is Shaggy in Scooby Doo and I cannot see him as anything else anymore.
