Like many around the world, I find myself with a lot of extra time right now.

I was thinking it would be fun if we all watched some vintage competition together in real time, and then could do some pbp/snark/comments in this thread. I'll share the watch party link here so everyone can watch.

The stream will start Thursday at 12pm CDT (11am PDT, 6pm CET).

Here are a few different competitions we could try, most around 1.5 hours:
1995 World Pros - artistic programs (1:30)
1998 Olympics - mens LP (1:45)
1998 Worlds - dance OD and pairs LP (1:40)
1999 Worlds - ladies SP (1:40)
2004 Worlds - ladies SP and dance FD (1:30)
2010 Olympics - dance OD (2:35)
2016 Worlds - ladies SP (1:25)

We'll watch whichever competition gets the most votes. If this works well, we can definitely do more competitions. If not, I'll have a monologue of comments here regardless.

Also, I'd love to take suggestions for other competitions to watch. Special shoutout to Hyacinth B and Sk8Frasch for providing these videos. :respec:

I was actually just telling people that I hope you organized something like this!

I have almost* no preference regarding events, but I will participate tomorrow and in any future similar threads.

*It would be interesting for me to rewatch the 2010 Olympics, because that was right when I started seriously following skating and I bet my impressions would be very different today. I was really sick during those Olympics and watched most of the skating with my mom; I remember being amused when she was enraged that Plushenko beat Amodio in the SP. But I would rather defer to others' preferences.

I was waiting to see if someone else was going to organize something.

The good news is that it looks like almost all of the 2010 Olympics are on youtube. :cheer: Plentiful pbp potential!

I'll try to watch, too. Today may be difficult (birthday of my niece), but if you also organize something at the weekend I'm so in! Great idea! I voted for the 1998 mens FP. I had such a crush on Kulik back than  (and even selfmade posters of him at the walls of my room ) but I'm fine with all other competition. The TTW OD 06 would be perfect for the weekend :D Thanks for organizing!

This was a tough call, because Boston worlds would have brought back the last glory of Pogo 😍
But as it’s too recent I went with Dortmund 2004.
Home soil bronze for Winkler/Lohse! Wheeee!
(Spoiler, ups 😝)

thanks @alchemy void for creating this! :cheer:

I've been in Dortmund. You may or may not see me in the audience after Kati&Renes FD :shuffle:

I voted 2010 OD purely to vent my spleen on Dominina/Shabalin

Now to check what time this actually would be for me. What time is CDT? Argh, it's gonna start at 4am. Enjoy!

I'm so here for this. Can we have some early-2000s dance? There really was nothing like those how-the-fck-do-we-implement-COP days. Also Khoklova, and my eternally beloved Sergei Sakhnovsky.

Can we do this again on a Saturday or Sunday too? Then I can drink while I watch. Since I am currently working from home, I probably shouldn’t day drink during the week.

ETA, and I just got a 12:30 meeting, so I guess I am out for today. I’ll have to watch tonight and read the PBP after the fact.

Wheee :cheer: I suggested that one already in the #ttw thread. 2 votes! Do we have footage @alchemy void?

I couldn't find full/partial event coverage of the 2006 Olympics OD on youtube. :drama: If anyone has a link or a playlist, let me know!

If this works well, I'll definitely do another one this evening, which may be a more reasonable hour for you. :)

I'll watch whatever and we need to do this again.

Totally! I have no work and very few plans through the entire weekend.

Does is start in 25min? :40beers: :watch:

Yes. It starts in 20 minutes!

Unfortunately the 2010 OD isn't working because the uploader disabled playback on other websites. :drama: I'm trying to find a creative work around. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. If not, we'll do 98 Worlds OD.
