I haven't seen an Almodavar film for years but saw Pain and Glory yesterday. Stars Antonio Banderas as film maker who has pretty much lost his desire to make movies. Lives with a lot of physical and mental pain. The film is interspersed with flashbacks to his childhood. Penelope Cruz stars as his mother.

I really liked this one. Banderas was great in the lead role and it had some very touching and beautiful moments in it. There are quite a few twists in it too so it made it interesting. Plus it had a great soundtrack.

Prescription Thugs is a documentary about the pharmaceutical industry and the damage it is doing to the people of America. There was one stat that said America is less than 5% of the world's population, but America's use of prescription drugs is 80% for the entire planet. One thing that stands out about this documentary is that the director has many people he knows share their stories of prescription drug problems before interviewing experts in the field. Getting information from two different sources makes it much more involving. If you like documentaries, I definitely recommend this one.

Just got back from seeing Doctor Sleep and loved it! Not sure how I feel about one major change from the book however.

I have a group of friends who we take turns selecting a favourite movie to show the others. It started off with getting together to watch GOT and has led onto movies. So every couple of weeks on a Monday we get together at one of our houses (large couch and big screen TV is a must) to eat popcorn and watch someone's selection.

Last night I picked Young Frankstein (my favourite Mel Brooks film). We have also watched The Goonies and Labyrinth (which I had never seen). Good fun and nice to do something social while indulging in one of our favourite pastimes.

Sounds like a great group!

Watched Parasite from Bong Joon Ho. Excellent movie mixing laughter, surprise, disgust or sadness. It is a very interesting social commentary on the state of our capitalist system and its impact on both the struggling and the rich. It is twisted, complex and certainly not black and white.

Saw ‘A beautiful day in the neighborhood ‘. I liked it. It is a story of Lloyd Vogel, a journalist, who interviews Mr. Rogers for a magazine article, and receives kindness and love that impacts his life. Tom Hanks does well as Mr. Rogers. Matthew Rhys does well as the writer.

I saw it last night - loved it. So much happens that you laugh out loud or shocked by - entertaining and makes you think too!

Saw Ferrari v Ford. Christian Bale gives another great performance. Good story, good acting, don't have to be a racing fan to enjoy
I saw this today. Not a car racing fan but thoroughly enjoyed it. Had some really good humour and the cars were beautiful.

I saw Official Secrets yesterday. Starring Kiera Knightly and Ralph Fiennes. Based on the true story of Katherine Gun who leaked a memo from the British secret service to the media which was aimed at trying to stop the US invading Iraq over the weapons of mass destruction.

Really fascinating story and very good performances. Worth seeing. Just shows the US hasn't changed their behaviour over the years.

Just saw "Knives Out" last night. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Standouts for me: Chris Evans, Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas. Christopher Plummer was also quite good, but his role was pretty small.

I laughed so hard at that scene toward the end when Chris Evans' character tried to stab Ana De Armas' character. About a half second before the blade made contact, I realized, 'Oh, it's a fake knife.' But I didn't see it coming until that moment. Well done.

I saw ‘A few good men’ on dvd last week. Enjoyed it. I had never seen this movie but I was familiar with the line “you can’t handle the Truth!”, by Jack Nicholson. The exchange between him and Tom Cruise was great. The acting was superb by all. What I really liked was the professional relationship between Tom Cruise and Demi Moore’s characters. They did not show romance between them. The movie stayed focused on the issue.

Definitely have to recommend Knives Out - such a fun movie! Well acted, and I thought the story was pretty clever. I want to see it again to see what details I catch next time- I have a feeling it's one of those that you notice new things upon repeat viewing.

Another rec for Knives Out. It was very clever. Had not seen Don Johnson for years. Ana De Armas is my new favorite actor.

Want to see Knives Out. Thanks for the recommendations.

I saw the new animated Addams Family last night. I really enjoyed it. I think they did a good job of it. Plus it had the best animated hair in it since Moama and Brave.

Me too! Just got back from Knives Out and enjoyed it a lot. I was never bored for a minute. Good stuff!

Also saw Honey Boy a couple of days ago. Shia Leboeuf was excellent in his role. I was honestly shocked how good he was. I think I liked the movie, but it was all over the place, and considering that the movie was inspired by Leboeuf's own life, some scenes were hard to watch.

Finally saw the Korean movie Parasite that others here have mentioned. Wow. I'm not sure how to describe it but it was very impressive. Reminded me somewhat of Shoplifters from last year in dealing with the complexities of the classes. Hubby raved about it. This film appears to be getting some Oscar buzz for a Best Picture nom.
