Jonesing for GP 2018-19

The Hendrickxs siblings will both be at SkAm... I think I need to go!!!!!

Although I wish SkAm would NOT pit Nathan and Vincent against each other... can't we spread them out and give better chances to qualify them both. I dislike when they do this.....

^^^ Although now that I have seen the full mens SkAm lineup I think they could both medal!!!

WOW, SkAm selected Team Japan's PowerHouses for ladies......

OMG! Pinch me -is it really true? If so, then I am thrilled Kevin Reynolds has not actually retired and will skate in the GP this season and possibly push all the other Cdn men, as well as himself, to be their very best selves in order to win Cdn nat title that Chan has recently vacated!

After that super fun exhibition Reynolds had last season, we now know that there are some sides to his personality he has yet to fully showcase, if he can conquer past boot and injury issues, then why not go after the National title that has eluded him throughout his skating career!

Go Kevin! Be strong, do your thing and hopefully also push Messing, Nguyen, Sadovsky, Phan, Nadeau and all the other young Cdn guys to train hard to count themselves in the mix, cuz 2020 home worlds is just around the corner and the time to shine their brightest and be counted as top contender's is fast approaching...

Congrats to Finland!

No Marchei & Hotarek????
No Cappellini/LaNotte either.

I see Finland is using only 1 host spot for both men and ladies. Interesting! The Viveca vs. Emmi showdown continues...

And there's 1 TBD spot reserved for a Finnish pair even though the only one we had split half-way through last season. Interesting! (I hope this means our Liubov has found a new partner but who knows...)

Coomes & Buckland are off the list along with Cappellini & Lanotte and Bobrova & Soloviev.

Garabedian & Proux-Senecal are listed even though she is on IPS?

Japan & Russia both got the full 18 spots in the ladies events. They certainly had the scores to do it, but I am impressed nonetheless.

So mandy random WtF assignemnts but all exciting!! Quick random thoughts:

Men:
*Yee, Lee, Aymoz, Reynolds, Zandron , Paniot, Fentz, Harris , Erokhov and Lazukin beneffited from the post olympic retirements.
*Denis Ten still competing! only 1 event though :(
*Nothing outraging here but I wish Kerry had 2 events and Carrillo and Hayrapetyan were invited. I think every skater that made the LP at Worlds should get 1 event at the least.

Ladies:
*Full rosters for RUS and JPN !!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
* Rika Hongo is the only single skater from the Top SB/WS lists to only get 1 event :(:(
*Samodurova debuting right away
* NO more Perkova
*Shiraiwa sneaking in!
*FIN only using 1 spot!!:wall: This is their best discipline and a huge opportunity wasted.
*Hicks and Wang getting reaaally lucky
*Happy for Gracie making a comeback.
*Lots of OES skaters missing but that's a consequence of the JPN/RUS dominance.

Pairs:

*No more Marchei/Hotarek :(
*Where the hell are Stolbova and Klimov !
*US Pairs benefitting big time from all the retirements.
*TBD FIN pairs spot?? For who???
*Esbrat/Novoselov only team on the SB/WS lists only getting 1 event.

Dance:
*No more Cappellini/Lanotte and Coomes/Buckland . They will be missed.
*RUS inviting the armenian team not checking first they have already split!:rolleyes:
*Lots of lesser ranked teams making their debuts: Muller/Dieck, both young GB teams, Yanovskaya/Lukacs, Reed/Ambrulevicius.
*Carreira/Ponomarenko making their senior jump already. Ambitious.

Not really. Everyone higher than them got at least one GP spot or they were too young or their country had already maxed out. Wang (SB39) and Hicks (SB41) are ranked higher on the SB list than Rajicova (SA & FIN), Li (NHK), Schott (FIN & RUS), Lecavelier (SA & TDF), Andrews (SA), Chartrand (SC), Meite (TDF), Algotsson (TDF), Paganini (RUS), and Austman (SC). I'd hardly say they were the lucky ones. :shuffle:

Ok fair enough although half of the skaters You mentioned are host picks so not chosen based on SB.

Of the other half Schott, Rajicova and Li had better major international results. Only Algotsson and Paganini were really luckier IMO.

I'm just happy to see Bychenko's going to keep on keeping on for at least one more season! Oh, and Laurine getting two assignments again, best of luck to her. :)

"Where the hell are Stolbova/Klimov?" - my thoughts exactly.

Denis Ten withdrew from several events last year. I wonder how his health is now.
