Sarina Joos is set to debut for Italy at Tallinn Trophy.

In Junior Ice Dance, Paolino/Tuba won over Tali/La Fornara at Mezzaluna Cup by 2 points a few weeks ago.
However, last week at Pavel Roman Memorial, Tali/La Fornara won the head to head easily (12 points lead).
T/L also lead in terms of Season Best in JGP season (146 to 141).
Selection criteria for Junior Worlds is
score at Nationals + score at Egna Dance Trophy + average of two best international score (excluding Egna)
For both couples so far the best 2 scores are those from Mezzaluna Cup and Pavel Roman Memorial.

I don't know what kind of benefits are available for Canadians vs the Italians, beyond just his placement at nationals, but there could be ?‍

I don’t think he’s ever said if he has UK citizenship (though during GP Sheff he shared a cute photo of himself as a baby in a union flag onesie). Since he was born here chances are he would be eligible, but unless one of his parents is British it would depend on their immigration status at the time and possibly whether or not they were married to each other.

Her father had UK citizenship and her mother did not, so she had to go through a whole process involving proving her parents were married when she was born (as opposed to getting married after she was born) in order to get UK citizenship.

Yes, you’re correct I don’t think he ever said he had UK citizenship. I was misremembering something he posted on Instagram with another passport. It was an Italian passport (I just went back and checked). I was thinking it had been a UK passport for some reason. So yeah, no reason to particularly think he has UK citizenship I guess.

The UK ended birthright citizenship in 1981, so Circelli and really any elite skater (even Deanna Stellato ) is too young to be a citizen of the UK simply on the basis of being born here.

No European country has birthright citizenship (except in very rare instances where the child would otherwise be stateless).

Many North Americans, like Circelli, do benefit from being born in countries with ius soli citizenship and descended from countries with ius sanguinis citizenship, making them dual citizens at birth though there's usually a process (long and involved) to get that citizenship recognized.

Italy has a number of quirks in its rules that makes entire lines eligible or ineligible. But if you happen to luck into an eligible line, that citizenship passes along forever with no generational limit, which is unique among European countries as far as I know. But, yeah, I don't see Circelli's results in Italy being much better than in Canada!

And when are Europeans? January or February? I always wondered why many countries have say the 2024 national championships in 2023
