March 27 event celebrating G/F:

I hoped soo much!! that Lara Naki Gutman will surprise everyone by getting individual bronze medal:-(
but being 5th at Worlds is a great achievement itself ( = consolation to me)

Grassl to meet the Pope

“..... then I have something really exciting coming up: on the 9th of April I’ll be meeting the Pope. A couple of Italian athletes, some of the medalists will be invited to the Vatican. I’m so excited about that. I was also told that he actually watched my performance. He’s very athletic himself, really into sports, used to play tennis when he was younger, and I heard he’s writing a book about the Olympics.”

Cross-posting from the retirements thread -

Sara Conti & Niccolo Macii held a joint press conference today where he announced he is retiring & has a coaching position lined up; sounds like she is looking for a new partner.

Their PR firm posted several IG stories with clips from the press conference here, beginning here -

And this X poster provided a rough translation -

New interview with Memola about injury, missing the Olympics, and future plans:

Not one to dwell on what could have been, Memola now looks ahead to next season—and he’s dying to get back out on the ice again. He hasn’t skated at all since European Championships, as his injury worsened after attempting to compete on it. He isn’t in a hurry to get back on the ice before he’s fully healed, as one lesson he’s taken away from this season is to take the time to recover when need be, and to listen to his body.

“I just need to be patient and try to make everything work. And not rush things, because that was the problem for the whole season,” he admitted.

I hope they know that while it might have been a long(er) shot, many of us were hoping before the injury that they would have been the second team in Milan. The passport processing may have gone faster had they been contenders.

I don't know if this has been already posted, but here is an interview with Guilia Paolino and Andrea Tuba in Italian from 5 months ago. They talk about their partnership, coaching change and the decision by the Italian Fed to send them to the Beijing Olympic Qualifier. Even if it's an older interview, it was interesting to find out a bit more about them and their partnership.

25th July is Election Day of Italian Fed

Candidates

Presidency

Walter Andriolo
Andrea Gios (incumbent since 2014)
Fabio Labia
Tommaso Teofoli

Andrea Gios 1.315 votes (63,9591%)
Tommaso Teofoli 432 (21,0117%)
Walter Andriolo 221 (10,7490%)
Fabio Labia 49 (2,3833%)
Blank 39 (1,8969%)

Gios was running for a 4th term and therefore he needed 2/3 of the votes to be re-elected (since 2018 there was a national norm not allowing more than 3 terms for the heads of sport federations, but in 2023 it was changed allowing them to run again but adding that they would need a "super" majority). He got just below that. Now he has to withdraw from next ballots.

New Junior pair of Manuel Rossi (he had teamed up with Nora Marleen Rothenbuhler for Switzerland in 2025 but they never competed, AFAIK) and Jolena Grohne (she skated in CO Springs previously with Reede Lunt at 2024 U.S. Novice Nationals), based in Bergamo:
He turned 21 in July and her Instagram profile says she's 16.

New Senior pair of Sofia Tridello and Alberto Tommasi are listed for the Senior B international at Lombardia Trophy - here's a March 10, 2026 article about them:

Congratulations to Sofia Tridello and Alberto Tommasi, the first Artistic Pair in Veneto, who made their official debut last weekend at the Palaghiaccio in Fanano, where the final competition of the season for the Elite category took place, competing in the Senior Pairs category.

The couple received excellent feedback from the judges, which marked a very positive first step in their sporting growth.
Sofia and Alberto have been skating together since the end of April 2025, both Venetians through and through, they train at the Padua rink, where they work daily with great commitment and determination followed by a team of coaches , made up of technicians Denis Giovannini and Roberta Rodeghiero, with the collaboration of the choreographer Jasmine Tessari.

A new name for me - saw on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/_gioiaafiori_/) that Gioia Fiori is an accomplished artistic roller skater! She placed 7th (170.02) in her Challenger Series debut at Lombardia Trophy - her not-yet-updated ISU bio has her competition history: https://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00110880.htm
Andrea Vaturi on co-choreographing, with Carolina Kostner, a female point of view Zorro FS for Italy’s Gioia Fiori, a roller-turned-ice skater who just made her CS debut at Lombardia Trophy:

I met Gioia last October during Artistic Roller Skating World Championship in Beijing where she won silver, only next to the incredible roller skating genius Madalena Costa. A wonderful skater both on wheels and on ice. So glad she did well on her first ice skating CS! Her SP Mamma La Rondinella is also choregraphed by Carolina Kostner.

Sara and Niccolò: a pair that made history ⛸️
Today at the Bergamo Police Headquarters, we celebrated an extraordinary journey: European titles, World Championship podiums, and an Olympic medal won against all odds. A unique partnership coming to a close in the best possible way.
Sara is already looking ahead to new challenges and the search for a new skating partner.
Niccolò has chosen to stay on the ice, but from the other side: he will be coaching the next generation.
Thank you for everything, guys.
