Interview with Aljona (video, in German, 26th Sept.): https://www.br.de/mediathek/video/5...enko-im-interview-av:5bab92c56702fa0018d43f09

I'm too tired to translate (up and down the mountains most of the day, Nebelhorn in sight  – sometimes)

_Last week they created a new program for Holiday on Ice with a new French choreographer. I hope, they'll show it at Gala.
_She talks about transformation.

Another interview from dpa (24th Sept.), also video, about Holiday on Ice https://www.sueddeutsche.de/kultur/savchenkomassot-versprechen-neues-bei-holiday-on-ice-1.4143384

Costumes look interesting

Now after all we might get some really close battle in ice dance this season for the euros/worlds spot.
M/D 3 chances left to score, same for U/S, K/N still4.

It will be interesting to see how high U/S can score without the tremendous host support and cheering abroad. I liked their FD a lot and thought they improved much, but we will see.
K/N totally ran outta steam in the 2nd half of their program, lots of work to be done here.
M/D have the best SD for me, but the FD is just no crowd pleaser at all; even in Germany the applause was very, let's say, limited.

Weinzierl could call herself lucky with the scoring regarding her jump issues. Let's see what Bock (if she shows up) brings at Finlandia and check if there might be a battle or not.

H/S improved a lot; rock solid in practice, so i take the FS just as a big nerve thing. Hope they will develop further in that direction.

If Stoll is the 2nd best we have after Fentz, oh boy :yikes:

JGP outings of Hess, Marold and Thomalla/Kunkel :scream:
Wolf/Liebers got the 2nd best GER dance score so far, so we have a nice battle in juniors too between 4 pairs for the 2 spots.

There's the Comeback of Kötting as you really should know :D

Where is Dastich? She had such a solid season last year. As much as I love her, I don’t see Weinzierl getting back to an acceptable standard for Euros.

And I seriously hope the Kotting rumors are true. This is his season to make Euros!

Of whom you are speaking? Starostin (whose link you posted) or Hess?
I am not sure if it makes sense for Hess staying senior as his skating is very very very much junior.
The link goes to Starostin so yes I am talking about him as you asked who our best skaters are.
And with Hess, I only heard that he is with Lindemann in Mannheim now, which surprised me as Lindemann was hired to coach the really young skaters, as far as I remember.

Kinda surprised to that Matthaei/Pfisterer get the JGP SLO spot. Of all 4 teams they had the worst-scored outing at the JGP this season

Underperformed in a tightly called event. I think it is not stupid to send them out again. Their potential score should be quite a bit higher. I like the FD, and obviously they need the experience.

Big skating weekend passed.

Bock returned to competition at Finlandia Trophy (SP, FS): 123,87pts
She matured, imho there is some improvement in her use of arms and overall skating, unfortunately PCS did not show at all; she still has her #splatordie attitude, which I usually like, but am unsure if it's the right direction for her right now going for a FS 2ith 2x 3Lz and 2x 3F. Maybe some easier jumps cleanly landed would help her mission in the #eurosrace .
Unfortunately she cut herself with her blade in the FS and had to go to the hospital for getting some stitches on her foot. Hope she gets back in shape to make the race at least a bit interesting.

Starostin had his debut at JGP (SP, FS): 158,98pts; I prefer his overall skating way more than of the other german junior guys, so with some consistency in the jumps this could be quite decent.
Still, what is his connection to GER? How did we get him? :D

Matthaei/Pfisterer improved their SB (RD, FD): 122,72pts.

What is the status of Schott, Dastich and Fentz?
Will Schott skate her first competition this season at GP? (Usually her first event each year is a real mess :shuffle:)

I have to say. I really like her skating, choice of music and composition. Did not expected that sort of high speed and good edges. Her jumps are not ready especially the Lutz. I agree. She should start with an easier layout.

Dastich is entered for Golden Bear next weekend. Junior category though.
Weinzierl, Scheidt Fentz, Dimitrescu on the senior entries.

Schott not entered for CS AUT, that leaves only 2 challengers for her.
Is she not allowed to skate 3 towards the #eurosrace as she has 2 grand prix's or what's going on here? :drama:

Senior Entries:
Weinzierl vs. Bock vs. Dastich
Dimitrescu vs. Hess vs. Stoll
Urban/Steffan vs. Koch/Nüchtern

The 2 best competitions count for Europeans, it doesn't matter if it's Grand Prix, Challenger, Nationals or just ISU competition. Schott doesn't need 3 challengers. She can pick whatever she likes. For Worlds the better girl at Europeans will be send.

I got that; but every skater can do 3 challengers, and now there are only 2 left for her to compete at. That's where my question was headed.
If there was a restriction how many competitions a skater can do at all (maybe not published). Otherwise one chance to score wouzld be thrown away.

I don't find a restriction in how many competitions a skater can do. Schott has been injured and might need her time to be competitive again. As far as I have seen Weinzierl I don't think Schott has to worry too much about qualifying for Europeans. She will do her Grand Prix and 1 or 2 Challengers, Nationals and if she really needs to maybe one more ISU competition. This should do for her.

I don't think ISU competitions count. According to the criteria only category 1 (Grand Prix) and 2 (Challengers) count.

What injury did she have? Do you know?
I think she had a knee injury, but didn't need surgery or so. She has been on crutches though. I don't know for how long. If she would do 4 competitions (2 challengers, GP and Nationals) it would be 2 out of 4. This should do. Even 2 out of 3 should be ok.

Müller/Dieck got the vacant spot at GP FIN. So they end up with 2 grand prix's this season. Great for them.
I like that we get a head-to-head with Koch/Nüchtern on a big stage :watch: #eurosrace

I kinda wished though U/S would have been the lucky ones.

I hope K/N will be ready. If they would win over M/D for the second time at such a competition... that would be huge!
Any news on young Schott with Joti? I wonder if Joti was in Oberstdorf to watch all the Germans compete at Nebelhorn...

Good skate from H/S today. Received the biggest applause (T/M got almost none). The throw was stellar. Only the costumes did not convince me. Look cheap.

Too many little mistakes from H/B in almost every element. At least the program looks like Aljona made.

Knierims continue to look nervous and insecure. They still need much more time.

Never expected to watch two German pairs in a GP again with Aljona staying in Germany.

If their nerves get to them, we always can blame the German fed for not sending them to Worlds to watch and learn – back then in 2015 :D

I hope, that their experience from Nebelhorn will help them. Keeping all possible fingers crossed.
