How long have the skaters time to make these transfers? I thought all coaching changes, partner changes etc. have to be confirmed until end of May?

The quote in EV's article came from Buyanova, so it sounds like she certainly thinks she is done with him. They can't force them to keep training together if they aren't willing, can they? Though I don't want him in Inna's team either (nothing personal against him, really, I just wish Sergei & Elena could be her only main priorities for awhile).

Not bad coaching changes IMO. Buyanova can concentrate on Pitkeev and Sotnikova (if Adelina chooses to compete, fingers crossed!), and Kovtun can try something different, he needs it.

But I don't think jumps are really his problem, it's mostly mental & I don't think he even knows what his motivation is to compete.

Hm, I am not a fan of Kovtun (far from it) but I guess all this situation is also TAT's and Buyanova's guilt - they forced him to move from juniors, add all these quads into the programs instead of working on PCS..
I mean, he may be lazy but TAT and Buyanova should also be somehow responsible for the result (and it is not the first CSKA male skater, who didn't succeed training with them)..

Kovtun was very clear. He knows how to do jumps himself and Mishin would be no help at all. Of course if you see his jumps you know Kovtun is horrible at them.

Ohh thanks for this! I love how he was pissed off that Mishin told him to change his jump technique had he changed it at the age of 12, he would be a contender now.

Kovtun's main problems are not mental, but his motivation (or lack of) and laziness. He sees skating as a means to an end to becoming rich and famous, getting celebrity status and living a party lifestyle. He is more interested in dating models than he is in training. No coach will be able to fix this.

TAT didn't exactly help him with his attitude by giving him expensive presents all the time and thus "bribing" him into training.

I think Kovtun should go to Tsareva, for the singular reason we absolutely need to see more of her in the K&C next season. Can you imagine her face after a Kovtun meltdown? Priceless.

He got a sceleton.of the LP working with Tchernyshev at nights and no SP. He knows his reasons, he is a 20y.o. man and is accountable for his decisions. "My love" -as you mentioned Plushenko - was in the same age when he received an offer from Hollywood to play a major role in a romantic movie. He would have been a talented skater who meets...etc. He accepted, but when he learned how much time making a film finally refused. I don't think that any other skater would have made this decision.
