Friday watch party: 1999 Worlds SP

She had Cohen? I had no clue

For a hot spell. Wagner took over for Cohen right before 2004 Nationals, and then Cohen came to 2004 Worlds with a totally different Swan Lake LP for some reason. Then Cohen went back to John Nicks for the next season as she missed the West Coast and Robin Wagner was probably being all Robin Wagner to her.

Hmmm, the Hughes sisters did tend to get every ounce out of their talent, and they both had gorgeous layback positions (Dick would highly approve! :cheer2:). They both had lots of gumption and chutzpah. I was never a huge fan of either of their skating, but Sarah had her moments I suppose (good and bad).

A very bad video quality of Sarah's skate...

Poor Poor Fumie...that was a nickname a friend of mine and I came up with when I read all about how Fumie wasn't popular in Japan and how Shizuka, Miki were considered prettier and Mao had the Hello Kitty appeal whereas Fumie had no appeal to the Japanese. Poor Poor Fumie...

MESS! :(

I think she missed the FS cut....Valeria Trifancova of Latvia didn't....

Did you guys know Michelle Kwan taught Fumie Suguri the triple Lutz when Kwan was competing at 1994 Worlds and was practicing at a rink there and was helping Fumie out (who wasn't competing at Worlds).

Such lovely knee bend in the axel landing. Great speed in the steps. This competition was my first time seeing her.

I'm sure Fumie takes great solace that a minuscule group of gays around the world absolutely worship her. :p
