DWTS Season 25

I had to record the episode due to Monday Night Football on instead of DWTS. Watching the video I agree that Frankie and Witney were spectacular as were Jordan and Lindsey. I saw Nancy Kerrigan smiling in the audience.

I completely agree that Jordan and Frankie were FANTASTIC! Lindsey was as well (I think more 10s could have been earned by her). IMO those three are the frontrunners. I personally prefer Jordan and Frankie to Lindsey, but at this point I'd be okay with any of those 3 winning.

Vanessa didn't seem to be herself. She seemed very quiet and 'off' during their interviews. Drew gets my award for most improved. And Emma had the most beautiful dress of the night. And I think Lindsey was wearing the blue dress that Meryl wore for her foxtrot (that Lindsey performed during). This season is also the most likeable Artem has been (and the most relaxed, it seems).

I saw Nancy in the audience too. And I think Alfonso has his own permanent seat in that front row, probably engraved.

But the best part of the night was Gleb channeling his inner Derek Zoolander, talking about moisture being the essence of water and insisting he's a merman!

...Vanessa didn't seem to be herself. She seemed very quiet and 'off' during their interviews. .....

I thought so too. In my "I watch too much TV" little world :P, I wonder if those rumors about Vanessa and Maks are more true than made out to be, that they are still fighting and can't stand each other, and that they are simply putting up with each other because of contract obligations and just in a "teach me the dance but otherwise don't talk to me" mode. It still seemed very tense to me between them. But eh ... what do I know, I watch too much TV. :P

I wonder if part of it is having Drew nearby to run to, interfering with the "you're too hard on me/apology/detente" cycle that Maks' partners typically go through.

Did you mean to say her husband Nick, not Drew? Otherwise I don't know why Drew would comfort her.

So IMO the best dance was Jordan and Lindsay's.

Mark and Lindsey had such a creative routine, but I didn't absolutely love it. In that first lift, I found her awkward going from position to position and exiting. But man I've missed Mark and his weirdness.

I also really liked Vanessa and Maks, but she should have been docked a bit for so much out of hold. Aside from that, the dance was spectacular!! And they look like they're getting along well now.

I also liked the concept of Victoria and Val's routine too, but thought Terrell and Cheryl were overmarked a bit.

The right team went home this week.

Next week should be fun - Halloween and team dances. I'm assuming Jordan and Lindsey will be the team captains.

I didn't mind Shania as a judge, once she started improving at spitting it out a bit better (she stumbled over her words a lot). She actually had some insightful comments.

I'm guessing Dhania wanted to be a guest judge in order to have a tape for trying to judge other reality shows.?she wasn't super confident, but didn't embarrass herself at all. Mercifully she stayed away from tech details.

I have thought for a long time that Cheryl Burke was the best female dancer but now I think Lindsey Arnold is just as good, & Lindsey also is a brilliant choreographer. She is so inventive. I loved their routine.

I have thought that Victoria (is she the Paralympic?) has been overscored for several weeks but that is really business as usual.

I think Cheryl is far from being the best dancer. For a long time she was the best female partner. She knew how to bring out the best in her celebrity no matter his level. Lindsay Arnold is both a terrific dancer and a great teacher. She grew up learning the craft from her mother, who runs a dance studio in Utah where Lindsay, Witney and Jenna all grew up. Lindsay is also trained in other styles besides ballroom, which makes her so versatile.

It seems they went a different route for the team dances, and didn't use the highest scorers to pick teams. Instead the captains were Terrell/Cheryl and Drew/Emma.
Drew/Emma, Vanessa/Maks, Victoria/Val and Frankie/Witney are dancing to Phantom of the Opera. (I'm kind of sad this got lumped into Halloween, as much as it fits. I think it could have made a beautiful regular DWTS dance)
Terrell/Cheryl, Jordan/Lindsay, Lindsey/Mark, and Nikki/Artem get the Monster Mash (which should be fun). Bot teams are dancing freestyle.

For the individual dances, I'm excited for Nikki/Artem if only for their song. Nikki better dress as a Sanderson sister, and I hope Artem is in costume as Billy Butcherson (the zombie)

The other dances/songs don't really seem that Halloween-y to me.

Nikki Bella and Artem – Jive (Song: “I Put a Spell on You” by Bette Midler (“Hocus Pocus” version))
Drew Scott and Emma – Charleston (Song: “Remains of the Day” by Danny Elfman)
Victoria Arlen and Val – Viennese Waltz (Song: “The Night We Met” by Lord Huron)
Terrell Owens and Cheryl – Tango (Song: “Super Freak” by Rick James)
Frankie Muniz and Whitney – Contemporary (Song: “Every Breath You Take” by Chase Holfelder)
Vanessa Lachey and Maks – Paso Doblé (Song: “Game of Survival” by Ruelle)
Jordan Fisher and Lindsay – Paso Doblé (Song: “Animals” by Martin Garrix)
Lindsey Stirling and Mark – Paso Doblé (Song: “Roundtable Rival” by Lindsey Stirling)

I remember Lindsey & Witney from So You Think You Can Dance. I don't think I've watched since their season but both were very good on all styles. I don't think Jenna was on it at the same time as Lindsey & Witney, if she was I don't remember her.

Lindsay and Witney were on in 2012. Jenna was the following season in 2013. Jenna's season the dancers were outstanding. A really interesting match of genres and styles. Jenna's dance with all-star/choreographer Mark Kanemura is one of the greats of the series.

Totally agree. I get the first two, that's acceptable for a Halloween show. But the rest?? How about 'Dead Man's Party'? How about 'Thriller'? Hell even the theme from 'Weird Science' would be passable. How about something even remotely related to Halloween? 'Every Breath You Take' and 'Superfreak' don't exactly scream "Halloween" to me. :P

Lindsay Sterling is a freaking warrior, I hope she can hold out for the team dance and has a quick recovery. I'd hate to see her have to withdraw when she's one of the best this season.

She did well considering the injury, and I appreciate her acknowledging the pain instead of playing it off. Despite the injury, though, I found her a bit sloppy, so I'm glad she didn't get 10s.

LOVED Frankie and Witney. That was so creepy and well done.

Kinda cool that previous competitors are coming back next week for trios.

Ouch. Kind of a sucky way to announce a double elimination? Once they narrow it down to two in jeopardy and then *boom* you're both gone.

I kind of knew that was going to happen based on Tom's facial expression when he opened the envelope (even before he said 'kind of a surprise').

I saw some timing issues in Team Phantom, and some lackluster performances from some. Frankie was definitely the stand-out. And smart for Team Moster Mash to put Jordan front and centre. I don't think that needed all 8s (I would have probably given them a 9).

Happy Frankie had a perfect night, though. Witney looks happier this season than she has in the last few.

Kristi Yamaguchi will be on DWTS next week. She'll be doing the trio with Lindsey and Mark. Kristi has been away from the ballroom the longest of any of the returning people - should be interesting! I'm surprised it's her and not one of Mark's more recent partners.

The other Trios:
Victoria Arlen and Val with Laurie Hernandez
Jordan Fisher and Lindsay with Corbin Bleu (the only non-champ returning)
Terrell Owens and Cheryl with Kelly Monaco
Lindsey Stirling and Mark with Kristi Yamaguchi
Frankie Muniz and Whitney with Alfonso Riberio
Drew Scott and Emma with Rashad Jennings

Kind of interesting to see that Cheryl is the only pro with a returning person who is not the opposite gender. And everyone other than Cheryl and Lindsay has brought back someone they partnered with during their time on the show. Maybe Jordan and Lindsay picked Corbin because of the Disney connection? Wondering about the choice of Kelly for Cheryl and Terrell, though - seems random.

Frankie, Whitney, and Alfonso should be a lot of fun.
I wonder if Maks would have brought back Meryl if he had made it through this week?

Okay, I take back what I said about 'Every Breath You Take' not screaming 'Halloween' to me. That was downright creepy! I have never interpreted that song in that way before. Frankie plays the psycho/stalker role quite well! That dance was freaking brilliant.

Oh, and that music from Lindsey/Mark?? Somebody get that music to a Top 3 skater(s)!! ANY Top 3 skater(s)!! That would make a brilliant program in any discipline. I've already got a SP choreo'd in my head. :P

The Dancing with the Stars ballroom, yes, but not ballroom. She did Cheryl's Love on the Floor tour in Japan last year. Maybe others know if she did it this year as well. So she's been dancing a lot more recently than Kelly Monaco.

Kelly Monaco must be there to promote something related to GH OR another ABC property. There are so many other celebs to choose from.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Jordan & Lindsey's perfect paso doble. I thought it was the best paso of any season. After that I was surprised that Lindsey Sterling got 9's for theirs. I hate that she got such a painful injury but it did affect her dancing & that's what they should be judging. But I knew she would get sympathy points before she even danced.

Re the double elimination, I won't miss either Vanessa or Bella. I enjoy the show much more when there are less contestants, like 6 or less. At that point everyone left is either really good or really appealing.

Yup. No deadwood left. No drama queens.

Others may not have wanted to do it. Dancing is work. Either they don't want to make the time commitment or they're not in top shape or they don't want to potentially look bad.

Kelly was the first champion, and she's still in good shape. I can see why they bring her back.
She also came 3rd (I think) in the all-stars season.

I liked Vanessa the first few weeks, then she kind of started grating. I didn't have any feelings towards Nikki either way, but I liked Artem this season. I also found Nikki got the short end of the stick last week and the week before. A disney song from a movie that's not even out yet, and then foreign for their movie genre.
