DWTS Season 22 3-21-2016

Watching Jodie's jive tonight, I'd say that her knee action was definitely in the top 3 ever for stars doing the jive. IMO the overall dance was missing something, but her knee action was just spectacular.

Also, when they did Brunos dance, when it was just the girls up front on the chairs, it took me forever to see which one was Jodie (actually, it took me until Keo was visible in the background).

Ginger's tango was fabulous. I found she and Wanya had the weakest group dance (and I definitely saw her as the weak link in that dance). IMO the high scores were just for Len.

Nyle was overmarked this week. His dancing wasn't taht great tonight - to me he just got the scores because of the silent bit (which wasn't THAT amazing).

Poor Wanya!! Anyone else get Charlie flashbacks there?

Maybe this should in the "unpopular opinions" thread, ha ha, but yeah. I mean, it is really great that someone can dance so well without hearing. I couldn't do it and I can hear. I have no rhythm or hips...............

But don't they learn the dance steps without music, just the counting? I used to do ice dance steps on the floor, saying the words on the beat - 1- 2 - 3 - 4 - in - side - swing - roll - in - side - swing - roll - lilt - 2 - step - 4, without music. The pros are pros. They know how to dance. We used to do the "baby duck" thing, with the person in front with the headphones on and we would just do what they were doing - with completely different music coming out of the rink's speakers!!!

All the pros had to do was count when there was no music or keep the rhythm in their heads. I KNOW it was harder than dancing to music!!!!!! But geez. I had a hard time seeing all of the dances that were in the dark anyway.

Last night may have been my favorite of the season. I liked everything - all the couples' dances & all the teams' dances. Len's team was so fun & entertaining but the other 2 were just riveting. In all 3 I loved the part where the stars just danced with each other.

Wanya is by far my favorite. I loved his western dance. I don't get why the judges were so hard on him. They should have ignored his slip. It wasn't his fault that Lindsey threw her bandana in front of him.

Yup. You're nailing it on everything.

Too much smoke, fog, long shots, and darkness! Methinks they doth conceal too much! :p Last night there were several dances that were too difficult to actually see/judge the dancing (especially of the stars). I thought that Nyle was over marked because he didn't really seem that well balanced/steady in a number of places. Of course, having the camera only show him from the waist up in several places certainly concealed his footwork.

I was hoping that Antonio would be the one eliminated -- but his V. waltz was actually much better than I thought it would be. Since he made it through this week, I'm hoping that he goes home next -- evil of me, I know. Jodie is a much better dancer, but I know that dancing ability is only a small factor in who gets to move on.

I thought that Bruno's "Carmen" Argentine tango was fabulous! Really inventive choreo and well performed by all. :respec: At least Jodie got to be part of that memorable number. I've rewatched it several times already. :)

Thank you SO much for bringing this up!! It was so hard for my eyes to see what Val & Ginger were doing, I had to start playing with the colour setting on my TV and the smoke on the floor is a constant pet peeve of mine.

I had an especially hard time with Val & Ginger's number; I rewatched it on YouTube today and could see a little more, but there still wasn't enough contrast for my eyes. :(

I don't watch Nashville, but IIRC Derek was on last year as well...

I wouldn't be surprised if it gets picked up by another network. Hayden Panetierre has received a lot of recognition (including a Critics Choice Award nomination) for her role, and Connie Britton has received an Emmy nomination.

Of course right now the most important thing is Hayden's health, but like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if another network took it on.

Anyway, on DWTS this week is the trios!! All teams have their individual dances, then the 2nd round is the trio.
Nyle & Peta chose mugging annoying Jenna
Antonio and Sharna have Hayley
Paige and Mark have Allan (no surprises, since she already killed it dancing with him this year)
Ginger & Val have Artem
Wanya and Lindsay of course chose Witney

Witney did choose Lindsay twice. Is it awful to say I enjoy seeing Witney be Lindsay's back up dancer?
If I was in their position, I'd do the same. The three (Jenna being the 3rd) trained at the same studio and did duos and trios going back to their pre teen years. I'm sure it saves tons of time as they use the same language and are accustomed to working together.

I love that Lindsay has been given a chance to shine the last couple of seasons. Personally, I like her a bit better than Witney (who often appears to have a bit of an attitude). Plus, Wanya has already danced with Witney this season (in the switch up) so he's used to her too - hopefully this is a bit better than that one went.

I'm a little behind with the broadcast, just watched Paige/Mark/Allen's samba trio twice.. it was so good! And I think maybe the first time there's been a 3-person samba roll? I hope Allen gets a crack as a pro soon, I like him. Also way to make things mega-awkward, Erin.

Hines Ward, Rumer Willis, and Danica McKellar spotted in the audience sitting together. :)

Looks like they did the trios first. My favorites were Paige/Mark/Alan and Wanya/Lindsay/Witney. Sharna did a good job with the choreo but I just can't get into Antonio (maybe it's b/c he's a Steeler ;) ).

Loved Paige/Mark/Alan. And also liked how they showed Alan kind of taking charge during rehearsals - maybe his bid to be a pro next year?

Do NOT agree with the final results tonight. Paige definitely should be there, but Wanya should have made it too, replacing either Ginger (overmarked throughout the season, another dance where she spent 30 seconds not doing anything, and her Quickstep was very awkward at times) or Nyle (not as good as he was at the beginning - seeming very clunky lately). So all my votes are going to Paige - she deserves it most IMO.

Wanya:fragile:

Don't forget that you can start voting now for the winner!! I just gave all 5 of my facebook votes to Paige and Mark.

Just did that too. Why were all five pictures still there after two got eliminated last night?

Wanya and Lindsay were on GMA and had a very sweet interview. No Antonio and Sharna but there was the obligatory interview with Val and Ginger.

Wanya! :fragile::wuzrobbed I would have preferred either Ginger or Nyle to have been eliminated instead of him. Ginger is good, but not great and while it is remarkable how well Nyle can perform without hearing the music, I have thought he has been less than great most weeks. Last night was no exception, as I thought he was very "messy" and clunky, especially in his second dance. Oh well, I can agree that Paige belongs in the final and I have not been bothered by the fact that she is the "ringer" this season -- although Nyle will probably win. :slinkaway

SO agree! I wanted to see a showdown between Wanya and Paige.

I believe that Ginger got through on the strength of her Tango from last week.
If the result had been based on last night's performances, she wouldn't have.

Nyle has been mediocre most of the time; but, I was sure he would be in the final three.

With Wanya gone I don't really care who wins as long as it's not Nyle. I think he's arrogant & definitely narcissistic plus I really don't like Peta. Of those left I guess I will throw my votes to Paige if I watch at all. She really is a good dancer. I hate it when the best dancer doesn't win. When he doesn't even get in the finale it really stinks.
