I believe the implication was fatigue at the end of the season, but who really knows?

Whatever the reason, I hope it is what.she wants to do and has a great time doing it. The trip should be fun and the money is always nice.

Somebody here said that she said the day of the Worlds long program that she was going on vacation and was not going to WTT. I was never able to find that information anywhere else. I would think that USFS had provided her information about the timing and financial benefits of WTT a while ago. But, maybe she did say that she wasn't going to go and felt the need for a break the day of the long program but changed her mind. Other skaters love this competition, and she spent time with other skaters at the gala and banquet and possibly on the flight home. They may have told her how great the competition is.

It would be nice for her to end the season on a fun note. She hasn't posted anything at all from Worlds on Instagram. I hope she isn't taking her one fall at Worlds too hard. Not medaling is a rare experience for her, but she had such a great debut senior season.

Ah, okay. She hadn't actually said that she definitely wasn't doing WTT, and she said it was still to be decided. And she didn't say she had a planned vacation that conflicted with WTT and that was why she could not compete. I may have misinterpreted what you had posted.

But, it is pretty clear that she was very upset about having just missed the lutz/loop. At that moment, she might not have been in the mood to compete anymore this season.

In any event, I hope she wants to take part in WTT and isn't just being pressured to do it. It is a little bit more difficult for her than most of the other American team members. I think she and Amber are the only members of the American WTT team who did not stay in Japan for SOI. The others don't have to fly home and then back again and deal with such different time zones. Isabeau's had a long and intense first senior international season. But, hopefully, she enjoys the experience and finds it to be a fun way to end the season.

The WTT is not the most serious of competitions and each team member from all countries is making anywhere from $16,250 to $25,000 just for being in the final results. There’s honestly not a tremendous ‘pressure’ factor to it IMO and the US is pretty much assured a medal anyways. If she’s burnt out and doesn’t want to do it, then she could’ve declined. But I really do think with the very recent addition of bonus money, it made the incentive better to just show up and worry about a nice vacation/chill time afterwards.

Re Isabeau - Perhaps now that Worlds is over and she has had some time to reflect, she feels like she has one more set of strong performances in her before the season ends? Or that she wants to end the season on either a strong note or a fun note. Or that she finally feels like she needs to implement / test a Plan B.

I also feel WTT is the perfect place for Amber to finally land the 3axel. It's international competition yet it isn't that serious.

I am surprised they are sending Yelim over Chaeyeon. Yelim already looked absolutely exhausted at Worlds.

Kaiya is listed as a substitute - so it's not like she doesn't want to practice her senior programs again or what not. It looks like Skate Canada simply prefer sending Sara-Maude over her.

For men, Wesley is the substitute but not Conrad. Is Conrad's boot problem so bad that it won't be resolved for another 2 weeks? Or that Skate Canada feels disappointed by his Worlds outing?

Similarly Sota is not even a substitute...

I think what will be interesting is that the first time country to the WTT (Korea) will also very likely win the bronze, considering how heavily the scoring is weighted towards singles. US and Japan will probably be fighting for first and second, and maybe Italy fighting for bronze with Korea? I think that France has too many weaknesses, and will probably be in last place, but I think Korea's singles strengths will keep them above the remaining countries.

I will also be curious if Ye/Quan will manage to get a fifth place in the competition. It's incredibly unlikely, but it would be huge if they managed to beat M/T or L/B. In fact, it will be interesting if Muramoto and Takahashi are able to build on their performance at worlds and stay about Lopareva and Brissaud.

In any case, I think this competition will be surprisingly competitive, with two clear front runners, and an interesting fight for the bronze.

@Marco - the KSF selection doc made it clear their spots would go to the highest ranked skaters in the WS. Yelim & Haein are the top two Korean women in the WS, with You third and Chaeyeon 4th, so it was always going to be Yelim unless she declined because of injury.

I'm going to go out on a very short, firm limb and say she wouldn't have earned any points for any GP, Challenger or other international competition she entered last season, and I doubt she would have been named to the Olympic, 4CCs or Worlds teams either.

I`m assuming she would have been skating healthily in which case she would have gotton plenty of points; She didn`t compete because she wasn`t in the mood; she was injured.
