The gala is Sunday night.Busy weekend but I got my ticket. 119H1 on the aisle & fewer stairs which is good for my asthma. Excited to see my first SA (I saw Nationals & Worlds in Boston & have had tickets to others foiled by covid).
I live in MA but going to try to get a hotel Th/Fri at least. If the gala is Saturday I can probably drive home afterwards. I'll be exhausted but everything is a tradeoff & it's less than 2 hours home.
That's what I thought until I misread my calendar LOL. So hopefully I can find a decent hotel room closer than 30 min driving w traffic for Th/F/St then (that area is tricky because the map looks close by when you factor in traffic patterns, some are much closer than others)The gala is Sunday night.
Would you believe it, I have jury duty for the whole month of October! Already deferred once because they called me the month after I had a hip replacement. So I have to do it in October. Will we meet again in Norwood?
I think I haven't seen you since Greensboro 2011!
Is that grand jury? wow. Well phooey, I was hoping to see you. Sorry you won't be able to come!Would you believe it, I have jury duty for the whole month of October! Already deferred once because they called me the month after I had a hip replacement. So I have to do it in October.
No, county - we have the whole month down here in Worcester Cty,MD.Is that grand jury? wow. Well phooey, I was hoping to see you. Sorry you won't be able to come!
wow I never heard of that. I have jury duty in DC this month, one day one trial. No, county - we have the whole month down here in Worcester Cty,MD.
Only 52k residents in this county. I get called every 2-3 years for a month. Have to call in the night before to find out if you need to go in, hard to plan anything.wow I never heard of that. I have jury duty in DC this month, one day one trial.
More than 80% of the arena is sold out!I got an email from USFS that less than 500 tickets remain, so if you're on the fence you'd better hop to it!
Honestly, if this isn’t an argument for putting it near a major city, I don’t know what is. I’ll bet I have a huge choice of seats for the CS in Lake Placid.More than 80% of the arena is sold out!![]()
The hotels nearby are small with very limited opportunity for lobby stalking. Most don’t even have bars.Where is the official hotel?
I think someone said the Hilton was the official hotel for the International Classic last year.Where is the official hotel?
You HAVE to go. How can I stalk you if you don't?@BlueRidge definitely gets around--I too have met her at SA. STALKER.
Is it wrong that the fact that tickets are almost sold out makes me want to buy them just in case I can go![]()
Yup, she dragged depressed ole me to Lake Placid that year, and is still teasing me for being the only able-bodied audience member not to give Rachael a standing O. I haven’t been since then either. You HAVE to go. How can I stalk you if you don't?
I haven't been to Skate America since 2009. This year is a BIG deal!
Where is the officia
I think that the base seating totals 2300 seatsSo they sold about 1.500 out of 2,000 available seats? (Not counting media/club seats)
Welllll... hard to say. Technically, Vincent gets first dibs, I think, since he was 3rd at Worlds (assuming he doesn't take the fall off), and Camden should get assigned to his 2 GPs as a seeded skater ahead of Ilia, but Ilia is the highest ranked man from Nats.BTW, given that Nathan is on hiatus from competition, would it be Ilia Malinin who gets the first nod for the men's competition?
I posted this Vincent Zhou article & excerpt in his fan thread as well as in the U.S. Men's news thread: https://figureskatersonline.com/new...s-on-ice-experience-after-up-and-down-season/Having said all that, I think it is likely that we will see either Ilia & Vincent or Ilia & Camden both assigned to SA.
ETA: Camden will be starting at Columbia University in NYC this fall but he has said he plans to continue competing.Though Zhou plans to focus solely on his academics in the fall, he states he hasn’t retired from competitive skating and hasn’t ruled out another competitive season. The new Skating Club of Boston facility, which opened in 2020 in the Norwood, Massachusetts, is only about a hour away from the Brown University campus.
“We’ll see,” he said of his future plans in the skating.
